"Alright, here are your prenatals Valerie. Remember to take them everyday. I'll see you soon at your next appointment" Will says coming in with a pharmacy bag
"Thanks" Val says taking the bag and signing the discharge papers
"Thanks Will" I said giving him a hug before he leaves
"Okay, I'm ready to go" Val says getting off the bed
"Here, let me help you" I said grabbing a hold of her
"I'm okay Jay. Thanks" Val smiles slightly
We both head out of the room and out of the hospital to my car. I help her in before getting in myself. The car ride was silent all the way to Matt's house. Once we arrived, I helped her out.
"Thanks Jay" she says before making her way up the steps
"Valerie wait..." I said pulling her back
"What is it?"
"I'm gonna be in this with you through every step of the way. I'm not going anywhere"
"That means a lot. I'll see you later."
She places a kiss on my cheek. I look up at her before she heads inside. All I know is that this time around, everything will be different.
~The next morning~
Before heading out to work, I stopped over to Matt's place. I knocked and Matt let me in.
"Is Val still asleep?" I asked
"Yeah, you can head in. And by the way, congrats on fatherhood. Don't fuck it up this time" Matt says before leaving
I make my way towards Valerie's room. I open the door quietly and slowly. I peek my head in and I see her sleeping peacefully with her back towards me. I close the door behind me quietly and head over to the bed. I sit at the edge of the bed and gently nudge her to wake up.
"Goodmorning sleepy head" I said
"Ten more minutes..." she groans
"Come on get up. The gang wants to see you"
"What time is it?"
"It is 8 am"
"Ugh fine"
She rubs her eyes before being fully awake. She gets up and stretches then opens the blinds.
"I know you're not a morning person" I laughed
"And I'll never will be. I need the sleep that I can get" she says
"I'll wait here while you get ready" I said leaning up against the bed frame
"I think I'm going to be sick" she says covering her mouth before running into the bathroom. I followed behind her
She leans over the toilet and throws up. I hold her hair back and rub small circles on her back. She throws up even more.
"Ugh! Forgot about the feeling of morning sickness" she groans
"It's okay. It will pass soon" I said rubbing her back
After a few minutes, Val gets up from the toilet and brushes her teeth. She then showers and gets ready to change. I just sit back and relax and just admire her.
"Should I wear a dress or jeans?" she asks
"Whatever you're comfortable in" I said
"You're no help" she says
Val's POV
I'm trying to pick out an outfit to wear but it's harder than expected. Most of my clothes are either to short or to tight. There was no inbetween. Asking Jay was no help either. I guess I'll just put on a dress and call it a day.
"How does this look?" I asked coming out with a yellow floral dress
"You look perfect" Jay says
I proceed to finish getting ready. I put on some light makeup and threw my hair up into a ponytail with loose waves. Once I was done, I gave myself one last look in the mirror.
"You're forgetting something" Jay says coming up behind me before placing a single diamond necklace around my neck
"It's beautiful" I said running my fingers across it
"Just like you" he says turning me around
We look at each other before he places his hand under my chin and lifts my face up and places a soft kiss on my lips. I wrapped my arms around his neck pulling him in closer deepening the kiss. "So, are we heading to the street fair or what?" Jay asks
"We are but I'm gonna need you all to load up your vehicles. This isn't just a normal day. We got news that Sara's gang has been lurking around that area and they may be at the fair today. I want all hands on deck" Hank says sternly
"Maybe I should go home then" I said worried
"We got you. Don't worry Val. We won't let anything happen to you or the baby. We just need you there so it'll be easier to catch the suspects" Antonio says
"So you're using me as bait?" I asked
"Yes and no. We want you to have a good time as well. Once this is over, we'll be back to normal" said Kevin
"Nothing will ever be normal if it means that my child and I are in danger 24/7" I said
"Trust us. We'll be right by your side" Hank reassured me
"If you say so" I sighed
