Ruby and I laugh as we stroll into the building, late as usual.
"Wait," I stop in my spot which shocks the red haired girl
"We forgot to pick up Erin and Alisha" I panic
My best friend gives me a sad facial expression as she places her hand on my shoulder.
"Hails, I didn't want to tell you this" she sighs
I furrow my eyebrows at Ruby.
"What?" I ask, confusion obvious in my tone
"They aren't our friends," Ruby reveals
My confused facial expression doesn't falter which causes Ruby to roll her eyes at me.
"Erin called you a 'drunkey' at her own party that she chose to throw just because you accidentally stumbled into her," Ruby explains
"She's secretly jealous of you, you should use that to your advantage" Ruby smirks
What?
Erin jealous of me?
That seems mildly far fetched.
"What does Alisha have to do with any of this?" I ask my red haired friend
Alisha seems pretty innocent in all of this to me.
"Alisha will always pick Erin over you and me," Ruby frowns
I frown at this information in response.
I thought that Erin and Alisha were my friends.
We all planned on buying a house in college and staying in it so that we could all be roommates.
"You should stick with me Hails," Ruby gives me a reassuring smile
The red haired girl hoops her arm with mine and strolls down the hall in sync with me.
"If we show them that their attempts at riling us up aren't working then that'll drive them crazy" Ruby muses with a low tone of voice
I furrow my eyebrows at this.
"It will?" I ask with curiosity
Ruby hums.
"We could be the most popular girls in school," Ruby chuckles at little at this, seemingly thinking about something
"That would drive them crazy for sure" Ruby states
I nod my head.
I shouldn't waste my time dwelling on an old friendship, especially one that was apparently one sided.
"Okay, what do we have to do?" I ask her with curiosity
Ruby smiles, happy that I am on board.
"For starters, we need to make it clear that we don't associate with them anymore," she says
I nod, listening closely.
"We do this by isolating ourselves as far away from them as possible" Ruby explains
I smile and nod my head.
-
"I'm craving chipotle" Ruby says after the lunch bell rings
I laugh at her statement.
"Do you want to go off campus for lunch?" I rhetorically ask her
Ruby slides a pair of thick, white sunglasses over her eyes.
"You already know the answer to that question" she smirks
I chuckle and stand up from my seat, throwing my backpack over my shoulder.
Ruby and I make our way out of the empty classroom and into the brightly lit hallway.
As Ruby and I walk down the hallway I feel my cellphone vibrate in my hand.
I look down at my phone only for a smile to paint itself upon my face.
Alexis texted me.
'You look cute today' the text message reads.
Aww.
She's so sweet.
Wait-
She can't see me.
How does she know what I'm wearing?
"Move out of the way, Assholes!" Ruby yells as we approach a loud crowd of students
Ugh.
I wish they weren't blocking the only exit near this side of the school.
With all the money that this school makes from these rich ass parents you'd think that they would invest a few thousands of it into the actual school.
"What is going on?!" I groan as I elbow my way through the crowd
A few of them glare at me but look away when I glare back.
I continue to elbow my way through the crowd until Ruby and I reach the center of what is happening.
My jaw drops when my eyes land on the person who caused said crowd.
"Hey, babe" the brown haired girl smirks
I hear Ruby gasp from beside me.
"Oh my god, it's Alexis Narcovia!" She excitedly squeals
When the initial shock of my girlfriend showing up at my high school wears off I smile and jog over to her.
She happily opens her arms for me, wrapping them around my shoulders while I wrap mine around her slim midsection.
"Awe" the crowd around us draws out
My girlfriend and I laugh at this reaction.
"We should go somewhere more private" she whispers so that only I hear her
I laugh at this and pull away from her.
I grab her hand and lead her towards the exit before the teachers are drawn to the crowd.
"What are you doing here?" I ask her with genuine curiosity
I love her, but I am so confused.
She smiles and releases my hand, wrapping her arm around my shoulders.
"I have a break and wanted to surprise you" she says
I pout at this information.
Aww.
My girlfriend is so cute.
"Aww, babe, that's so sweet," I thank her
"But Ruby and I were planning on going to chipotle for lunch" I inform her
Alexis pouts at this.
My heart goes crazy in my heart at this reaction from her.
"Aww," she says
"I'm sure Ruby wouldn't mind if I tagged along, would you?" My girlfriend asks my best friend
I turn to face my, still stunned, red haired best friend.
"No, totally not!" Ruby practically explodes
Alexis laughs off her reaction while I give Ruby a glare.
What is wrong with her?
She is acting like an idiot.
Alexis is a normal person, just like us.
"See, she doesn't mind" my girlfriend assures me
I hear Ruby not so silently squeal beside me.
"Oh my god, I can't believe I'm going to eat lunch with Alexis Narcovia!" The red haired girl squeaks
I roll my eyes at my best friend's behavior.
Ugh.
She is embarrassing me.
"I'm sorry about her, she doesn't know how to act normal" I tell my girl with a smile
Alexis smiles, holding back a laugh, and places a peck on my forehead.
"I love you" she tells me
I smile up at her.
"I love you too" I assure her
Hopefully Ruby doesn't embarrass me and further.
-
"I love my parents, I mean they're paying for my education," Ruby says
"Well, my dad is because my stepmom is just a slutty gold digger," Ruby continues
My girlfriend hums with disinterested as she continues to smile at the blabbering red haired girl.
I choke on my drink at this.
Seriously?!
She is slut shaming someone.
Slut shaming is so rude and unnecessary.
Just say you hate that person and move one.
There is no need to shame someone for preferring sex more than the 'normal person'.
"I love her style, gifts and how she pines after me to get my approval though" Ruby chuckles and flips her hair behind her back
Or are those her hair extensions?
Honestly, I have no clue from this angle.
"Excuse us, Ruby, I need to discuss something with my girlfriend really quick" I tell my best friend with a smile before sliding out of the booth
"Hurry back, I haven't told you about the time that I argued my way into a five thousand dollar shopping spree" Ruby calls after my retreating body
Is she serious right now?!
Not only do you not need five thousand dollars, you don't need five thousand dollars for clothes of all things!
I lead Alexis towards the chipotle bathrooms, practically praying that it doesn't smell bad in them.
When we reach said bathrooms I mentally celebrate as I walk through the door and am met with the scent of air freshener.
Hmm.
Ocean breeze.
"Your ass looks amazing in that skirt" Alexis says as soon as the bathroom door shuts behind us
I turn around and glare at the girl, readying myself to scold her only to relax when I notice the gentle smile on her lips.
"I'm sorry about Ruby, I wouldn't have invited her if I knew that she was just going to fan girl and talk about herself the entire time" I apologize as I lean my lower back against the sink counter
My girlfriend gives me a reassuring smile and makes her way over towards me.
Placing her hands behind me on the counter and grinning down at me once she reaches me.
I try my best not to lose my cool under her.
"Your friend may be ridiculously annoying, but at least I get to hang out with you" she smoothly muses
I smile up at her and lean in for a kiss.
"Alexis, Haley, there's a sale on-" Ruby bursts into the bathroom but stops as soon as she sees the position that my girlfriend and I are in
I mentally roll my eyes at this interruption but do nothing since not only is it a public bathroom, Alexis and I aren't even in a stall.
"You go, Alexis is going to drive me back to school" I tell my red haired friend
Ruby is now fully in the bathroom.
"What?! No. This is a fifty percent off sale, Haley," Ruby says
I am shocked when the red haired girl grabs my wrist and pulls me out from under my girlfriend.
Oh my god!
What is wrong with Ruby?!
It's like ever since she met my girlfriend she forgot how to act.
"You can't miss it!" She declares and pulls me out of the bathroom before I have the chance to decline
Ugh.
I just want to go home.
-
"What's wrong, Hails?" Ruby questions as she picks up a black top
Is she serious right now?!
"What is wrong with you?" I ask her rhetorically
Ruby turns around with a confused facial expression.
"What do you mean?" She asks
I raise an eyebrow at her.
"First you bust into the bathroom where you know my girlfriend and I are talking and tells us about a sale," I say
"A sale that I did not want to come to," I inform her
"Now here we are, at said sale where you've been looking around for an hour and still have not found anything" I tell her
Ruby rolls her eyes at me, dropping her confused facial expression.
"In my defense it was a public bathroom and the two of you were way to close to be 'having a conversation'" the red haired girl states as she continues to look at the racks of clothing with a disgusted facial expression
I wish I were joking.
"Ruby, what the hell is wrong with you?!" I whisper shout
The employees here are already giving us weird looks due to Ruby looking around at clothes for such a long time.
"If your girlfriend didn't like me you could've just said that" she tells me
I roll my eyes so hard that I swear I almost saw my brain.
This is what she is mad about?!
She is mad that my girlfriend dislikes her?!
Oh my freaking goodness!
She is making a big deal out of literally nothing!
"Are you fucking kidding me?!" I accidentally say a little too loudly
An older woman who was just walking past us stops in her spot and glares at me.
Oh great!
"That is not correct behavior for a young lady" the woman tells me
Ugh.
I turn to face the woman and glare back at her.
"I didn't ask you, Cockalorum" I tell the grandmother
The white haired woman is taken aback by this insult.
"Do your parents know that you're using that language?!" She gasps
I roll my eyes and cross my arms at this lady.
"My extensive vocabulary is none of your business," I inform her
"I wish I could say the same for yours, Pillock" I continue to name call her
At this point I am just taking all of my frustration out on her.
I should be taking this out on Ruby.
Ruby is the one that I am mad at.
"Okay," Ruby laughs and walks up to us
"I am so sorry for my niece, she hasn't had her lunch yet" the red haired girl says to the pissed off lady
The old lady gives us one last glare before Ruby practically drags us out of the store.
She is practically doubling over with laughter as we walk down the sidewalk to find her Jeep.
"Oh my god, that was too funny Hails," she continues to laugh
"And those words, where did you even learn those?" She asks but doesn't cease her laughter
"Isabella" Is all I say as we continue to make our way towards her car
My arms are crossed in front of my chest while hers are on her stomach due to cramping.
"Ugh, it would be her," she says as she finally begins to stop laughing
It's about time, gosh.
"You family is so freaking hot," she begins to gush
Ugh.
I am literally going to throw up.
Good thing we are at her Jeep.
"Oh, say another big word!" She exclaims
I glare at her with an annoyed facial expression when she doesn't let me in the car.
"If you say another big word I'll let you in the car" she smirks cockily
I raise an eyebrow at the cocky red haired girl my teeth grinding against each other.
She wants a word, I'll give her a word.
"Poltroon" I call her
••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
Yikes, Conflict.
Haley is going to receive her karma soon enough.
(No, I am not going to tell you how soon)
