Rose's POV
"Come on Jade!" I yell to her from her kitchen
"Coming, coming hold on!" She yells back
I make my way into her bedroom to see what the hold up is, I see her holding four dresses, two makeup bags and an overnight bag "you almost ready? Amber might already be at my house" I tell her
"Yup I'm ready, lets go" she says I take three of the dresses and leave the rest of the things for her to carry to my car.
Thankfully it starts up and we head over to my house. When we get there we pull up to see Luke's car outside, I pull into my driveway and me and Jade climb out. We walk up to his car to see them making out, we start to laugh and tap on Ambers window. They pull apart and both look over to us, Luke starts to laugh and Amber gets bright red from embarrassment.
He rolls down his window "Ok ok break it up you love birds you'll have plenty of time for that tonight" Jade says, luck chuckles but Amber hides her blush with her layered blonde hair
"Bye babe I'll see you soon" Luke says kissing her one last time
"Bye I love you" she tells him climbing out of his car
"Love you too" he says smiling
We walk inside my house and my mom comes in to the living room "hi girls! It feels like I haven't see you, Amber, in forever!" She says coming over and hugging all three of us
"I know Penny I've missed you, I've just been busy with Luke" she tells her
"Of course and Jade I heard you have a man now yourself" my mom says
Jade smiles and nods "I do, his name is Caden"
"Awe that great honey, well I hope you guys have a fun girls night" we all stiffen and nod, no I didn't tell my mom I was going to a club, she would never let me but I decided this would be a good way to get my mind off of things and just let go.
"Yeah thanks" we say nervously she smiles and walk off
We all let out a breath we were holding in "God that was close" Jade says
"Yeah now let's go get ready" I tell them walking back into my room with them following close behind
When we get in my room Jade throws all of her crap on my bed and sits down breathing heavily, I roll my eyes and smile walking over to my closet. I know I told Jade I would wear a tight dress but I'm second guessing that, maybe I can find something appropriate for a club in my limited closet.
"Oh no you don't" Jade says getting off the bed and coming over to me "come on I have a dress for you" she pulls me over to the bed where her pile of dresses and makeup are
I look over to Amber for help but she just smiles and shakes her head "what about Amber, do you have a dress?" I ask her knowing she would never where anything too revealing
I expect her to look surprised since I caught her but her face held a blush but also a mischievous smirk "actually...I do have a dress" she says turning to her bag that she placed on my dresser, she pulls out a beautiful dark purple dress. It's low cut with a thin strap, it has a simple sparkly belt and it looks like it would cuts off right at above her knees.
Me and Jade stare wide eyed with our mouths on the floor "holy shit Amber" Jade says "put it on!!" She tells her
Amber smiles and nods, she strips from her jeans and t-shirt and slides on the tight dress. "oh my god Amber you look beautiful!" I gush and she really does, the dress hugs her skinny frame, her perfectly tan and toned legs look perfect and the color looks amazing with her hair and skin color.
"Seriously Amber you look great" Jade says
"Thanks guys" she says with a genuine smile
"Luke is going to love that" Jade says under her breath, Amber heard it and gasps hitting Jades arm playfully, we laugh loudly and calm down after a minute "Ok now you" Jade says pointing at me
I nod my head hesitantly, not really wanting her to give me a striper dress. She starts to pull out a blood red material, it's a gorgeous color but I keep my eyes on it to make sure it will actually cover me.
She pulls it out completely and stands up, holding the dress against my body to show me the whole thing. I'm speechless it's so beautiful, it's red lace all over with a dark red underlay, the sleeves are long and completely lace, the neckline is high enough that it would touch my neck and I can tell it is going to hug my body "you like it?" She asks and I nod my head with a goofy smile
"Try it on Rose" Amber says, I take the dress from Jade and ditch my clothes, tossing them in my hamper
I pull the tight material down my body, when I straighten it out I look up at them, Ambers face mirrors my previous face when I saw her all dressed up and Jade looks very proud "good?" I asks nervous for there response
"Beautiful!" Amber says, I smile and walk over to my full length mirror, I'm shocked at how surprisingly good I look. It hugs my curves perfectly, the material clings to my waist, breast and butt making me feel so much older. My long dark red hair goes in good contrast with the dress and the color pops out my blue and green eyes.
"So Rose did I do good?" Jade mocks crossing her arms
"You did amazing!" I tell her honestly "I think I'm going to take a shower, I need to shave my legs" I tell them
"Ok I took a shower this morning so I'm good" Amber says
"Yea same, go on I'll start on Ambers hair and makeup" she says looking over at Amber with a smirk and Amber looks a little worried, I laugh at her expression and nod, Jade pushes her over to my vanity where I put on my makeup as I grab a towel, clean underwear and a strapless black bra.
"Wait let me see your dress" I tell Jade realizing I still hadn't seen it
"Oh right" she says walking over to the bed to her bag again
She pulls out a simple black dress with short sleeves, a very low V shaped neck line and thin material. Then she takes out bright red high heels that add just the right amount of wow to the outfit "I like it" I tell her noding my head in approval, it's defiantly something I would pick for her. The thought of her in something bright yellow or orange makes me laugh lightly.
"Ok I'll be back soon" I tell them, they nod and Jade walks back over to Amber and starts to play with her hair
When I get in the bathroom I turn on the water and carefully take off the dress not wanting to winkle or rip it. I hang it on a hanger and place it on the door handle. Walking back over to the shower I stand in front of the mirror and take my bra and underwear off, slipping into the burning hot shower.
I'm nervous; like really nervous. What if I can't handle it? I've never done anything like this before, it's not like me to just go out and grind on strangers or get drunk. I don't think I could even take a sip of a beer or alcohol after seeing what my father did when he drank. I do want to go but at the same time I don't, I would almost rather put on some pajamas sit in bed, watch movies and eat junk food all night.
I try to not think about my nerves and focus on the hot water soothing my muscles. I run my fingers through my hair getting the shampoo and conditioner through it and getting the nots out. I leave it in as I shave my legs, I rinse my hair and the soap off my legs after they are completely smooth and rid of the stubble. I spend about five more minutes in the shower just enjoying the warmth and trying to think about anything but this night. Multiple times my mind wanders to what Marcus is doing and what it would be like if he were coming and not Scott but I try to shake the thought away as soon as I start thinking it.
I get out and put on the bra and underwear I brought with me, I decide against putting on the dress because I don't want to mess it up when Jade is doing my makeup. I walk back in my room with the towel wrapped around my body to see Amber facing Jade, her back facing the mirror.
"Oh my god Amb-!" I begin to say amazed at how good she looks
"Shh! Stop she has to wait" Jade tells me
I put my thumbs up to Amber and she smiles, she looks absolutely stunning. She hardly wears any makeup and when she does its mascara and lipgloss, but Jade has done her up like a Barbie doll. Her blond hair is curled at the bottom, she has soft eyeshadow on, cat eye eyeliner and her eye lashes sticking straight up perfectly. Her face has a tad pit of foundation and light blush she looks effortlessly beautiful. I walk over to my closet and throw on a plain white t-shirt and some jean shorts until I put on the dress.
Jade finishes up with a nude lip color and a light pink gloss "done!" She says Amber smiles wide and slowly turns around
"Holy crap!" She says her brown eyes huge in amazement
"Do you like it?" Jade asks
"Its different but I love it!" Amber says standing up and hugging her
"Good" Jade says
Amber releases Jade from her embrace and Jade looks down at her phone "guys we should probably start to hurry up its already 8:05"
"you're right" I say going over to sit at the vanity
"What do you what me to do with your hair?" Jade asks
I realize now that I'm going to have to blow dry it to do anything to it now adding more to do in the limited time we have. "I'll blow dry it and you can start on your makeup"
"Ok sounds good" Jade says
I walk over to my bathroom and take my old blow dryer out of the cabinet. I could get a new one, I mean I have a job and we aren't in debt anymore; plus the mystery money we got. My mom put some of that money away for my college fund to save up. She says she wants to use the rest of it to maybe buy at least a little better house, maybe one with a little more room and closer to town. I wouldn't object, this house has way to many bad memories, mostly consisting of my father. We were going to move far away where he could never find us but even then we didn't have the money.
My father drank away the money my mother had, he would go out, take the money she earned working fifty hours a week and drink every penny of it away. So when he left that horrible night me and my mom were free but also low on money so we had no choice but to stay in this old beat up house until we were back on our feet and could afford to move. I was fifteen at the time and wanted nothing more than to get away from here, I was always afraid he would find us. The nightmares were horrible back then, they came every night repeatedly making my mother terrified when I would wake up screaming and sweating. I wanted to move to New York, California or Florida just anywhere where me and my mom would be safe. I didn't want to leave Amber or Jade at all, I love them but I would if I had to if it meant my Father would never find me.
I thank god everyday for keeping him away from us, but sometimes I wonder where he is. Is he in jail? Is he with another family sobered up and living happily? Is he still the same evil drunk man I knew? is he dead? So many possibilities on where he is and what he is doing but I don't care as long as he stays away from us.
By the time I'm done thinking I'm done with my hair, it actually look pretty good, I don't think I have to do anything to it. The waves look big and bouncy, perfect for a club scene...I think.
I walk back in to my room and Jade is in her black dress and done with her makeup. It's similar to Ambers but her lips are blood red and her eyeshadow is different colors of brown and gold. I truly love her eyes, they're so amazing like a caramel brown and light blue color, her natural cat eye look plus the eye liner and mascara make her look like someone out of a edgy magazine. Her dark hair is pulled up half way, her hair in front of her face is pinned up in a clip adding to the bad ass look she was going for.
She bends down and puts on her scarlet red heels matching her lip stick "ready for you makeup?" She asks I nod and walk over to the vanity, she turns me around so I can't see myself in the mirror, telling me I'm not aloud to see it until it's done.
We talk about tonight and how much fun we are going to have...well manly Jade and Amber talk about that, I stay quiet and listen.
"Ok I'm done, go put on your dress" Jade instructs me
"Can I look in the mi-"
"No" she says dismissing me
I walk over to the bed and get my dress, stripping my t-shirt and shorts and pulling on the lace material, thankfully the sleeves are not itchy. "can I look now?" I ask
Amber comes in from the kitchen holding a glass of water "Rose you look amazing" She says
"Thank you" I tell her and slowly walk over to the mirror
My breath hitches in my throat when I see myself, I feel...beautiful, even sexy, for the first time in a while. My eyes are sparkling with the makeup she put on me. Light pink, golds, and browns are the colors that look perfect together on my eyes making them pop, black eyeliner lines my eyes making them look bigger than usual and the mascara makes my lashes look extra long. A light pink blush is on my cheeks and a sparkly rust color on on my lips. I'm not used to this much makeup but when she was putting it on me she said 'it's dark in the club you have to wear a lot of makeup or the lights will drown you out'.
I put on the high black heel Jade loaned me to complete the look, I glance up one more time and I'm still blown away by the new girl staring back at me. My nerves seem to vanish for just a moment as I admit to myself that I look damn good and I can do this. The heels add a certain sex appeal and make my legs look toned and tan.
"Well say something!" Jade ushers me
"Right sorry, I love it, thank you" I tell her hugging her just like Amber had
"Good I'm glad, because we all look like a million bucks and hot as hell" she winks "I texted Caden a couple minutes ago he should be here soon with Luke" Jade tells us
We nod and I walk over to my closet pulling out three sweat shirts "put these on" I say throwing one to each of them, they catch them easily and start to put them on slowly making sure not to mess up there hair or makeup.
"Why?" Jade and Amber say in unison
"Because I don't want my mom to see" I tell them, I don't like the idea of lying to my mother but it's the only way to go.
They both make an O shape with there mouths and straighten out the sweat shirt, it covers there dresses almost leaving a sliver of the material in view. We might look a little silly to my mom with a sweat shirt and high heel on but I just hope she doesn't see.
We hear the sound of a car horn through the thin wall, coming from outside. Amber puts on the same shade of purple heels as her dress and Jade and her stand with me at my bedroom door, my heart beat getting faster.
We walk out of my tiny bedroom and walk to the living room just before we reach the door my mom calls out "girls are you leaving?" She asks from the kitchen
"Um...yeah we're getting a ride with some friends" I lie through my teeth with a ping in my heart, hoping to god she doesn't walk out
"ok! See you later" her still hidden away
"Yeah" I say reaching for the door handle
"have fun" she's clueless which is good and bad
We all nod with a stiff smile and rush out the door, I can't bare to see my mothers face as I lie to her. When we get outside we take the sweat shirts off and hold them in our arms.
Luke and Caden are outside my house at the end of the driveway it's hard to see them, the only light source is a flickering street light. They are both leaned against the car with there foot propped on it and are chatting away. The clanking of our heels drives there attention over to us, they both are silenced even the sound of there breathing stops. There eyes are wide and there mouths are hung open, especially Luke's considering he's probably never seen Amber look anything like this. Both there eyes are glued to there girlfriends, scanning over every inch of there body's. I stand awkwardly in middle of them already feeling slightly jealous and out of place being with two couples.
While Caden and Luke gush over there girlfriends I take the time to look at them, they both look very nice. Caden is wearing dark jeans and a dark blue tight shirt with a brown leather jacket. Luke is wearing light wash jeans with a rip at the knee and a white t-shirt under light blue button up. Both look extremely handsome, almost inhumanly handsome, my best friends lucked out for sure
"So are we just going to stand here and stare at each other all night or are we going to go clubbing?" I ask slightly irritated but I cover it up with a smile. It's not that I'm not happy for them...it's that I wish I had someone to gush over me.
They peel their eyes from each other and nod, Caden and Luke swing there arms around Jade and Amber.
"You look beautiful" I hear Luke tell Amber
"Thank you" she says and even though she isn't facing me I know she blushing like crazy
"And you look good enough to eat" Caden says to Jade with a smirk as he baries his head in the crook of her neck and his arm around her shoulder. I gag a little, trying not to think about that and forget I ever heard it.
Luke opens the back seat of Caden's truck for Amber and she slides in and he follows after her. Caden opens the passenger door for Jade and closes it, he runs over to the drivers side and gets in.
"Don't worry I got the door" I say under my breath, sliding in next to Luke.
We all talk to one another while we drive the twenty minute drive downtown. The street lights glowing into the windows making everyone's smile look so much brighter. Everyone seems exited to get out and do something together and the more we all talk the more exited I get.
"So when is Scott coming?" Jade asks turning toward the backseat
My back straightens in realization, crap, I look down at my phone seeing as I haven't checked it ever since I came home to see I have two text messages both from Scott
'Hey beautiful ready for tonight'
'Y'all still going to be here at 8:45?'
I blush at his first message but quickly text him back 'I'm sorry I just checked my phone! We are headed to the club now'
"Rose?" Luke bumps me
"Yeah sorry...I just texted him" I tell them, all eyes on me holding a sympathetic look causing my anger to grow. I know it's because of Marcus and how they feel bad for me like I can't just go out and have fun with another guy.
"What" I snap at them, they all look away except Jade
"Nothing" she says
"Listen I'm over Marcus ok, he doesn't havw feelings for me and there's nothing I can do about it so I'm moving on. He's my teacher and I'm his student; it's illegal" I snap, my words sink in and my stomach clenches at what I said. It hurt just saying those things. I know it's not true I just don't understand why it's not. I never went on a date with him, so what we shared a few kisses, it didn't mean anything....to him anyways. It's like no matter what I can't get him out of my mind and out of my heart.
They're all silenced at my little out burst and all focusing on different thing, I really don't want this night to be started off wrong "I'm sorry guys" I say quietly, letting out a sigh
Amber reaches over Luke and places her cold soft hand on my exposed thigh "no we're sorry, we just want what's best for you" she tell me with a small smile, I return the gestures and nod. My phone vibrates in my hand and I look down to see a message from Scott
'Ok I'm here, I'll see you when you get here, I'm exited to see you ;)' his text reads
'Great! And we should be there soon' I text back hoping it sounds cheerier than I feel. I stare out the window into the dark night watching the street lights and cars pass quickly by us.
"Marcus does care for you" Caden defends after a moment of silence, I look up at him and his blue eyes state back at me in the mirror, they hold a certain emotion or a hint of something, I just can't quite tell what it is, I sigh and shake my head
"I wish" I tell him, he doesn't know what he said to me, if he did he would know that Marcus only cares for me as his student and nothing more
He shakes his head, hands stiff on the steering wheel "No he does Rose it's just-" he begins to say but is cut off when Jade places her hand on his thigh and squeezes lightly, they share a glance and he nods letting out a sigh
"What?" I whine and usher him to go on and tell me what the hell he's talking about
"Nothing" he says all of his focus on the road
"No Caden tell m-"
"We're here" he cuts me off and everyone gets out of the car leaving me irritated and curious. I follow behind everyone with my arms crossed over my chest; hugging my body, not having a man by my side to warm me and wrap his strong arms around me.
I look up to the club to see a mile long line of people all waiting behind a red rope. A security guard there opening and closing the door for people going in. It's a tall building and I can already hear the sound of the the music vibrating my chest and shaking the ground I stand on. A single street light sends a yellow glow across the people in line, the sign reading 'Tunnel' is placed above the door in bright neon purple lights.
It only has a few windows and I can see the multi colored lights flashing around the club and the shadows of people jumping and dancing. I speed walk a little faster to catch up with them. At the sidewalk I see Scott standing there looking around, his eyebrows pulled together. I can't help but wish so desperately that it was Marcus standing there and not Scott, I feel horrible for thinking that but all I can think about is him.
He looks casual with jeans and a short sleeve white collard shirt, his freshly cut short blonde hair is spiked at the front making him look very sophisticated. Unlike some of these people, manly the women, who look like they just got there clothes shredded into thin ripped material. My eyes widen at the rude comment that just crossed my mind.
Me and Scott's eyes lock and his bright green eyes soften....I wish they were Ma- No stop that's it, you will not think about him I tell myself, I will only think and spend time with Scott, not Marcus, get over him. Scott's tense stance relaxes as I walk up to him. Jade looks back to me, peering over Caden's shoulder and smiles a fake smile.
She's going to have to better than that if she wants to trick her best friend of eleven years. I look back over to Scott and he's walking over to me with long strides. I take one arm from my body instantly feeling colder at the loss of warmth and wave.
He smiles wide, his white teeth glowing in the darkness "hey" he says once he reaches me, his arms pull me into a unexpected hug and I stiffen. My stomach clenches as his arms touch my skin, I hug him back to make sure it isn't be awkward but being in his arms doesn't feel right...it doesn't feel the same as when I'm in Marcus's. I scold myself and try and enjoy his warmth in this bitter cold.
"Hi!" I say, smiling and hoping to sound cheerful
He steps back from me and his eyes rake my body, making me feel exposed and also embarrassed. I feel my cheeks heat up and the wind nipping at the hot skin of my face. "you look breath taking" he says coming back up to my eyes
"Thank you, you look very handsome" I tell him honestly
Jade comes over to me, I forgot that they were ahead of us and moving quickly "come on Rose" she tells me glancing once over to Scott and grabs my arm. We start to walk up to Caden, Luke and Amber when I feel Scott's arm wrap around my waist causing me to trip a little, I look up to him and smile nervously. I glance back forward and Jades eyes are glued to Scott's arm on my waist, she does not hold a pleasant look.
When we catch up to them Caden is talking to a large man, probably in his late thirties early forties, who was one of the guards at the door. The man undoes the rope and Caden walks in, us following close behind. My heart is beating out of my chest. I'm nervous, very nervous, I've never done anything like this. I've been to two real parties in my life and I left an hour into them because I couldn't handle all the crazy drunk people harassing me.
"Hey, relax" Scott's whispers in my ear
I breath in deep and try to thank him but my voice gets caught in my throat when we enter the club. I'm overwhelmed by the amount of body's moving with the loud beat of the music. I direct my attention back forward and see that my friends are leaving us. I start to walk a little faster, maneuvering in between the dancing people's pulling Scott with me. I latch on to the back of Luke's shirt trying not to be separated from the group again.
