"It seems that your nose is getting bigger! Looks like we have a little Pinocchio here!" -Amara Abdullahi, FH.

CHAPTER ELEVEN: Walking The Streets Of Paris

Amara Abdullahi

We landed in the France Airport just minutes ago and from my left I could see tall skyscrapers touching the sky. Everything was already so beautiful here and we were only in the airport! The smell here was even different, weird right? One could see people from all sorts of places in this airport which that alone was already thrilling. I walked up to Amy and squealed, which I don't do often. "We're in Paris! Could you believe it!?" I stated excitedly. "It's so amazing here." She replied just as excited as I was. This is what I love about Amy, she always loves to share people's excitement.

She's happy when others are happy and consoles people when they're not in the best of conditions. But for some reason, I couldn't help but feel as if I was being watched which was weird. i don't know, maybe I've been watching way too much Riverdale and that's why I'm getting paranoid. I then looked left and right but no one had their eyes on me. What's wrong with me? "Are you okay?" Amy asked worriedly. I looked at her and gave her a nervous smile. "Of course I am." I responded. Stop being so paranoid, Mara and just enjoy yourself, I thought to myself in reassurance. This is the time for you to let go of all your troubles and just have fun.

"Okay class, gather around." Mr. Miller announced as he motioned us to come together. Hamid walked up to me and smiled. "I guess we're really here. Hey do you feel as if we're being watched or am I just being crazy?" My twin asked, looking behind us. So he feels it too?"I guess we're both going crazy cause I feel it too." I replied feeling somewhat weird. What is this?

"Alright, so first we're heading towards the hotel to settle in. It's three people to one room, I'll send you all text messages  so you know what room number and who you'll be paired with. After you're all settled we'll meet in the lobby and discuss where we'll be going first thing tomorrow morning after we eat breakfast okay?" The teacher announced as he looked at us.

I really hope I get paired with Amy. It's not that I don't like anyone else here, well I only dislike one person. Brenda Lee, I don't know why but she always hated me and also had a thing for Hamid. We use to be friends up until the time Abi left. She was the first person I told it to and I also told her to not tell anyone. But the next day everyone in our grade knew about it. I never trusted her ever since.

"Hey are you okay?" Brenda asked as she walked towards me. I was in the girls restrooms crying my eyes out.

"N-No." I stuttered as I continually wipe the tears that were running down my cheeks. I'm not okay, nothing in my life is okay... Nothing will ever be okay again.

"What's wrong?" She came up to me worriedly.

"I-It's my dad... he left us." I then lost control and continued to bawl my eyes out.

My phone then buzzed along with everyone else's.

Amara, Amelia and Brenda-Room 25B

Amara, Amelia and who!?? Amy and I turned to look at each other with wide eyes. This isn't good... Ya Allah why? I turned to see Brenda and her clones Audrey and Bree glaring at both me and Amy. I could do this... I can. Hopefully none of us will kill each other.

* * *

The moment we arrived in the hotel, Amy and I rushed to our room. As I stepped into the room I couldn't help but gasp... wow. The suite was beautiful, it was painted black with three white bed spreads, a lamp by all of the beds, three laptops and a humongous balcony."Oh my gosh, is this really our room!?" Amy squealed with a huge smile. I ran to the bed by the corner an jumped on it. I know it's childish but you know what? Who cares? Even for someone fasting I have so much energy.

"I love it!" I said while jumping."Of course you would. Aren't you into tacky rooms like this?" An annoying voice said from across the room. I looked to my right and saw none other than, her. You know her who shall not be named. She's like the Asian version of Voldemort. Yeah that's right I compared her to Harry Potter."Tsk,tsk,tsk. Look what the cat dragged in. It's a towel head and her side-kick." She added with an evil smirk playing on her tan features. Ya Allah please give me patience with this girl. One thing I've learned is that playing fire with fire will only cause you to get burned. So every time I'm around her I just try my best to bite my tongue. "Shut the he-" I covered Amelia's mouth really quickly. "She isn't worth it." I stated while staring at Brenda with nothing but annoyance. She just smirked at us and walked up to one of the beds.

"I want this one. It's right next to the window and I can see the view." She said as she took Amy's bag off and put hers down. Amelia looked like she was about to blow her top off but took slow breaths. I know what she's thinking right now and I'm glad she didn't say any of it. It's hard to hold back when Brenda is constantly pissing you off. We then heard a knock on our door and turned to see Ahmed was standing there smiling at us. "Hey Amy, mom wants to talk to you." He said as he handed her the phone. Amy quickly grabbed the phone and left the room.

"You just get hotter and hotter every time I see you, don't you?" Brenda let out a sigh as she clung on to his arm. I don't know why but I had the sudden urge to rip her hand off and feed it to snakes. What's wrong with me? "Ah, thanks?" Ahmed responded as he wiggled out of her grip. "Come on, why so shy? A good looking guy like you should be use to this." She clung on to him once again. Ahmed gave her a look which looked like he was disgusted. Who wouldn't be though? Girls like that disgust me and I'm a girl myself! I quickly turned around so I didn't have to witness this cause I just ate and I don't really feel like throwing up.

"No thanks, I'm about to head out. Bye Mara." He said as he flashed me a smile which made Brenda frown. "Bye Ahmed!" I yell as he left the room. Brenda stared at me as if she was very annoyed. "Ahmed is mine so back off!" She yelled. "What? I don't li-" I was quickly cut off.

"Don't give me that I don't like him bull. I know you do, you seem to have both him and Zubair wrapped around your ugly little fingers don't you? What are you really? Wow you're even worse than me. At least when I want a guy, I straight out tell him unlike you. Looks like we have a little two timer here." Brenda said and with every word she said, she stepped closer to me making me take a step back. Is she calling me what I think she's calling me? Nothing but pure anger and frustration ran through my veins at that very moment.

"Excuse me? And who do you think you are!? For your information Ahmed has been one of my best friends since ever, he's like a brother to me. Also Zubair is my brother's friend, again BROTHER'S friend not mine! I don't know what you're talking about but I'm not one to lead others on! So get you're facts straight honey before you talk. Oh look at that." I pointed at her nose. "It seems that your nose is getting bigger! Looks like we have a little Pinocchio here!" I smiled once I saw her reaction. That shut her up for good. "Now, if you'll excuse me I have some exploring to do. Bye!" I grabbed my purse and headed out of the room leaving her dumbfounded. On the way to the exit I happened run into Hamid who looked pissed off for some reason.

"What's got your panties in a twist?" I asked as I raised an eyebrow at him.

"Someone messed with my hair gel!" He exclaimed with a fuming expression.

I started to laugh uncontrollably once realization dawned on me. So that's what Ahmed did? Mess with Hamid's hair gel? Oh wow, that's too funny especially because he can't live it without it."What's so funny!?" My brother asked, looking at me suspiciously. I shook my head from side to side while holding back my laughter, well to the best of my ability. "Nothing, so w-what are you g-going t-to do?" I responded in between laughs. He looked at himself through his phone and patted his head longingly.

"I'm sorry hair but you're going to have to remain gel less for a couple of weeks." He stated in a sad tone. I patted his shoulder in reassurance while still struggling to hold in my laughter. "Good luck with that bro." I added as I walked towards the elevator and headed towards the first floor of the hotel.

All of us were gathered at the main entrance of the hotel as Mr. Miller and another lady were informing us about what we could do for the rest of the day. We have exactly 5 hours to do whatever we want but we have to be back before 8 o'clock. "Okay so everyone can get into groups of 4, no more and no less! You're all dismissed now." Mr. Miller stated with a stern expression. Amelia and I already paired up and now we have to find 2 more people to pair up with.

"Hey guys can I join your group?" Zubair asked as he rubbed the back of his neck.

I couldn't help but furrow my eyebrows together in confusion. Why would he want to be in our group? "Ah sure." Amy said uncertainly. "Hold up I'm joining too." Hamid jumped in. Well it looks like we have our group now. I just can't wait to finally leave this hotel and walk the streets of Paris. I've always dreamed of this ever since I was a little and now I can finally cross it off of my bucket list, Alhamdulilah. "Lets get going guys." Amelia said in a sing-song tone.

Why was her head on his shoulder? Wait, why do I even care? What's wrong with me? Why do I keep asking myself these dumb questions!? I don't even know. After we landed I couldn't help but be in a bad mood for the rest of the day. I quietly approached the room I was assigned to with Hamid and Ahmed. As soon as I opened the door I was met with a pillow hitting my face. Ahmed and Hamid were jumping up on their beds like kids.

"Hey!" I sounded serious. Once the turned around and saw me a smirk formed on my face, "You guys are having a pillow fight!? Without me!?" I shouted as I hurriedly grabbed the pillow on the floor and threw it at Hamid."Oh you're dead!" Hamid exclaimed and threw one at me again. Then all three of us somehow get into a three way pillow fight. We're so childish.

But hey, who said that was a bad thing?

"Boys!!" An angry voice was heard from behind us. I slowly turned around only to see Mr. Miller glaring at us. Oh man we're so dead. "C-Can we help you Sir?" Ahmed asked with a sheepish smile on his face. "Yes actually, you can gather all of the luggage from the lobby and help the bell men bring it to their owners. The names are already on the luggage, here's a list where everyone is assigned. Get this done within an hour." He handed us the list of rooms. He expects us to get this done within an hour? All of us groaned before walking out of our suite. This should be fun, note the sarcasm.

* * *

After I was done with most of the deliveries I only had one left, Amara's. Just as I was about to set her luggage down I couldn't help but over hear her conversation. "Excuse me? And who do you think you are!? For your information Ahmed has been one of my best friends since ever, he's like an older brother to me. Also Zubair is my brother's friend, again BROTHER'S friend not mine!" She exclaimed in full blown anger. I never heard her like that, sounding so mean. There must be a reason as to why she said that because at the end of the day she is roomed up with Brenda. Brenda can bring the bad side out of anyone. Slowly, I sat the luggage down and left.

"Okay where should we go first?" Amy asked excitedly.

She really is a bubbly person isn't she? Well I guess that isn't really a bad thing to be happy all of the time. I think Amara needs someone like that around her considering all the she's had to endure. "Lets see the Eiffel Tower!" Amara suggested. "It should be really nice considering the fireworks will starts soon." She added with excitement in her eyes.

As we were walking the streets of Paris I still couldn't help but feel... watched. What's wrong with me? I'm just being too paranoid aren't I? I turned around and didn't see anything... "Are you okay dude?" Amy asked me worriedly. Smiling at her, I nodded my head to indicate that I was fine. "Guys look up!" My brother said, his voice clearly full of excitement. I looked up and couldn't help but gasp, we were standing right in front of the Eiffel Tower. Wow, it's even prettier when the sun is setting.

The tower looks as if it's scraping the skies.

"Whoa..." Zubair said in awe, as he stared up.

After a little while I managed to escape the group for a little bit while standing at the top of the tower. This place is amazing, it's everything I hoped it would be. This just proves how beautiful Allah's creations truly are, he is the best painter after all.  Being up here helps me think better. All of my problems just disappear with the night wind. Could I just stay like this forever? I slowly went and fetched my camera from my bag. My sister bought me this expensive camera because of my love for photography. The reason why I love photography is that whenever I see something beautiful I can capture that moment forever. Although no photo could ever do justice to Allah's creating, it still nice to try and capture the moment as best as anyone can. I then focused the lens and snapped a photo.

"I didn't know you were into photography." A familiar voice said from behind me. I turned around and saw Zubair standing there behind me, staring at the gorgeous view."Yeah, it's kinda my passion." I admitted. For once I want to get along with him. We're in a beautiful city for crying out loud, so what's the point of being angry at each other all the time? I'm done with being like that. "Mine too. I love capturing the moment, you know?" He said with a sigh as he stretched his arms. I couldn't but be surprised, he likes photography too?

"So I guess we do have something in common." He added with a chuckle. "Yeah, I guess we do."I replied with a faint smile."Hey guys! We should get going now. Mr. Miller is going to flip if we come back late and plus its affur time." Amy said while her and Hamid were walking towards us.

* * *

I laid down on my bed and grabbed my phone and also my international call card so I could call home. You see before we left, Nur bought us an international call card so we could call home. The first person I called was Amran. After talking to her, I talk to Mahirah and Nur. I then dialled mom's room but the nurse said she was asleep. Makes sense because she usually naps around 3-4 oclock. After a little bit I manage to close my eyes while still anticipating what's going to happen tomorrow.

THIRD PERSON

He felt weird seeing them after so long, they looked lively and happy. Wow they've really grown up, he thought with a proud smile. Guilt quickly snuck up on him along with the thoughts that he had abandoned them, hurt them, he doesn't even know how his youngest daughter even looks.

They'll never forgive him.

They'll never love him.

They don't even recognize him.

He's nothing to them and he'll never be anything to them.
