3rd Person POV
"Okay, I'm sorry, I'm confused." Alex says, her and Kara are at the open door to the apartment and staring at a man who had introduced himself as Mr Mxyzptlk. "This is your all-powerful Fifth Dimensional stalker?"
"No." Kara answers, confused. "I don't know who this is."
"I am Mr. Mxyzptlk." Mr Mxyzptlk responds. "ust as I'm sure that you, Kara Danvers, are Su–" And before the identity of Supergirl could be revealed, Alex and Kara pull Mr Mxyzptlk into the apartment. "Thank you so much." He says as Alex slams the door and Kara begins interrogating
"Tell me who you are and what you want, now." Kara demands
Mr Mxyzptlk snaps his fingers and the TV plays a clip from Kara's life. "I'm your one true love, your soulmate, your one true 'pairing' as the kids say." Mr Mxyzptlk says on the TV. "My name is Mxyzptlk, and I love you, Kara Zor-El."
"Okay." Kara breathes. "If you...If you are Mxy, then why do you look like this?"
"Okay, I only took on that other form and sophisticated accent to impress you." Mr Mxyzptlk says. "But it worked. You caught me." And he snaps his fingers again and the TV starts playing
"Tricked me." Mr Mxyzptlk says on the TV
"No, I followed the rules." Kara says on the TV. "You say your name backwards, you go back to the Fifth Dimension, no questions asked." And the TV turns off
"Ah, I miss that hair. I really, really do." Mr Mxyzptlk says. "But now, I can't use any of my powers, except to help those whom I have wronged."
"Oh, how sad for you." Alex mocks
"Yes." Mr Mxyzptlk says. "A tragedy of Shakespearean proportions, I agree. But great news. You're the last one." He tells Kara
"What could I possibly need your help for?" Kara questions with a scoff
"Well, I am hashtag Team SuperGreene so I'm here to help with your Willow Greene moral dilemma." Mr Mxyzptlk says, bowing dramatically. He looks at Kara and Alex from his bow. "Come on, that deserves some applause."
Kara and Alex cross their arms. "What's your point?" Alex asks
"My point for my Lady Super is... I am offering you a do-over." Mr Mxyzptlk says, putting his hand out towards Kara dramatically. Kara and Alex share a look. "I could send you back in time. I could bring Willow Greene here right now. We could look at what would happen if...if you controlled the narrative. I'm talking free reign over the timeline! Correcting what keeps you and Willow apart!" He exclaims. "Haven't you hurt enough? Look, I get it. You don't trust me. Okay, but how's this? Ready?" He holds up a recording device. "Now, by Fifth Dimensional law, I am required to give you this recording of me saying my name backwards, in case you ever need to banish me to my Fifth Dimension, which I know that you–"
Kara presses play on the device and Mr Mxyzptlk is said backwards. Mr Mxyzptlk disappears in a flash of blue. Kara looks at Alex with tears in her eyes
J'onn walks in with pizza. "Hey, girls." He greets. "What's going on?"

"You're not seriously thinking of doing this, are you?" J'onn asks
"What if I could change things?" Kara asks. "I don't even know where I would start but...but we could brainstorm, right?"
"I don't like this idea already." J'onn says
"You don't like it because it's about Willow Greene." Kara says
"No." J'onn says. "I don't like it because you can't meddle with the timeline to fix a relationship." He says
"He's giving me the opportunity." Kara says, her voice breaking with tears in her eyes. "Don't you think...I mean...I wanna be happy...I love her..." She whispers, looking down at her hands
J'onn and Alex share a look before Alex lays her hand on her sister's hands. "All right, listen to me. If you really think that this is your best chance to set things right with your relationship with Willow then...answer my question first. Will you be happy?" It's silent for a moment and Alex takes this silence to continue talking in a soft voice. "Just make sure that when you're doing this, that that question is always on your mind, okay?" Kara nods. "Okay. Go for it." Kara looks past Alex to J'onn who nods
"Okay..." Kara saysm standing up and wiping a tear away. "Uh... How do I do this?"
The fridge glows blue and Mr Mxyzptlk pushes his way out. "Oh, God. Thank Zook you changed your mind. Yes, I'm still working on eavesdropping. That's a problem."
"Okay, uh, before we do this, Mxy, I need your word that if things go sideways, you'll put it all back to normal." Kara says
"I am court-ordered to do so." Mr Mxyzptlk says. "Boop." He says, booping her nose. "Now, no shade to the Super Friends, but it tends to work better when it's just me and the subject. So, do you two have any plans?" Alex and J'onn shake their heads no. Mr Mxyzptlk snaps his fingers and the two disappear
"Where did they go?" Kara asks
"They're in their happy place." Mr Mxyzptlk says
"All right, so, how does this work?" Kara asks
"I will show you relevant parts of your life." Mr Mxyzptlk begins the explanation. "You'll tell me when to pause, I will snap, like thus, sending you back. You will change history. Once you have done whatever you have wanted with Willow Greene, you will come back, we will watch from your loft and the safety of your couch. If you are comfortable with the domino effect I will then snap again, at which point, it will become reality." He says, clapping his hands and the TV appears with a projector. "Okay, so what are we looking for?" He asks Kara
"Um..." Kara whispers, wracking her brain for key memories that could help. "Oh, what about when I found out she was alive?" She says, looking over at Mr Mxyzptlk
"Mmm, which time?" Mr Mxyzptlk asks, looking through tapes
"Was there more than one time?" Kara asks
"You'd be surprised." Mr Mxyzptlk says. "This girl pretends to die a lot." He says, looking down at a tape that is labeled at a future date. "Oh...maybe I shouldn't have said that..." He says
"What?" Kara asks, turning to face him but he throws the tape to the side
"Nothing." Mr Mxyzptlk says, putting a different tape in. "Alright, let's do this." And as the video starts, Mr Mxyzptlk snaps his fingers and Kara is thrown into the past
...in the past...
As Alex opens the door, the scene in front of Kara is one that she never thought she would see again. Kara watches as Willow packs up a box in the room, unaware of the two in the doorway. Brainy is helping -- well, trying to help -- but he doesn't know what goes where, even as Willow directs him. The two were working in silence, the only sound between them was Willow's directions and the soft playing music in the room
Kara remembers this day, this interaction. And she remembers that she was the one to begin speaking. And so she does. "Willow?" She asks, her voice cracking and tears in her eyes. Despite reliving this for the second time, her emotions were running the same
Willow whips her attention to the doorway. The moment her green eyes land on Kara, they well up with tears. A few tears spill down her freckled cheeks as Kara rushes over to her. Willow jumps up, rushing over to her best friend as well. The two collide in a hug. When the two pull away, both crying, Kara strokes hair away from Willow's face
And then, Kara watches as Willow's face crunches with emotion once again as the green-eyed girl looks at Alex. "I told you not to tell her..." She whispers, her voice watery and completely taken over by emotion. "I told you not to bring her here." She says, her voice breaking off at the end of her sentence
"She deserved to know." Alex says, also with tears in her eyes
"What's going on?" Kara asks in a whisper even though she knew what was happening since she already lived this before. But Kara doesn't give Willow the chance to say anything, jumping in in this moment and choosing to change this moment. "You're not leaving. I won't let you."
"I have to..." Willow answers in a whisper, tears flowing down her freckled cheeks. "I made a deal with J'onn."
"I don't care." Kara tells Willow. "I don't care about some stupid deal you made with J'onn. He doesn't get to dictate what you do with your life."
"Kara....he helped me take down Base Ops." Willow says. "This was the deal we made. He would help and I...I would leave National City." She says, turning to grab the box by her feet and leave
"No." Kara says, grabbing Willow's arm. "I'm not letting you leave."
"Kara, let go of me." Willow says, watching as Kara's skin was already flooding with green veins. "You can't touch me."
"I don't care." Kara says with tears in her eyes
"Kara!" Willow shouts, her eyes flashing green and a huge pulse goes into Kara's body and she stumbles back, green veins all over her. "Oh my god..." Willow whispers, shocked at what she's done. "I'm sorry." She tries to rush forwards but Alex steps in front
"Willow, I think you need to back up." Alex tells her
"I didn't mean to." Willow stammers through tears. "I'm sorry. I'm sorry." And before anyone else can say a word, the green-eyed girl goes invisible and disappears
...back in present day...
"Wait, where'd she go?" Kara asks, watching the screen
"Um...that's a good question." Mr Mxyzptlk says, watching the screen as well
A time jump shows up on the screen and on-screen Kara is standing in front of on-screen Marvin with tears in her eyes
"What do you mean you can't find her?" Kara questions
"We've done all we can." Marvin says with a sigh. "She is nowhere to be found. And when she doesn't want to be found...I'm sorry. But it's been six months. We're suspending the search." And on-screen Kara breaks down into tears while on-screen Marvin comforts her
Kara looks at Mr Mxyzptlk next to her. "That was awful!" She exclaims with tears in her eyes and Mr Mxyzptlk agrees with tears in his eyes. "What...why would you show me that?"
"That's where you wanted to go." Mr Mxyzptlk defends
"Alright, we need a new plan." Kara says, wiping her tears away and composing herself

"Oh, god, what do I do...where do I go?" Kara questions, pacing the floor
"You know where we could go?" Mr Mxyzptlk asks, eating popcorn and Kara looks over at him. "To when you two kissed for the first time."
Kara sits up. "Also known as the day I died..." Kara whispers
"Right." Mr Mxyzptlk says, standing up. "Exactly. Go back in time to that moment and change it."
"Change it how?" Kara asks. "I don't know a way in which we can kiss that doesn't result in exactly what happened...Oo, I have an idea! I can't die if we don't kiss...maybe if we keep our relationship on a friendship level, that will work!" She exclaims
"That's what you want?" Mr Mxyzptlk asks
"Yes." Kara says, "Take me there."
"To clarify..." Mr Mxyzptlk says, bringing up a video on the screen. "You mean this moment?" He asks and the screen lights up
"You got hurt! Again!" Kara argues with Willow late at night in Willow's apartment. "And we are having the same exact fight over and over and over again!" She says. "Why the hell can't you just step back?"
"Uh, yea." Kara says. "Take me there."
Mr Mxyzptlk snaps and Kara is transported
...in the past...
"You know why..." Willow whispers with tears in her eyes
Kara looks around, she's in this moment again. She remembers this fight like it was yesterday. She looks Willow in the eyes and this is the moment she decides to change. "You're right...I do..." She whispers, taking a step towards Willow
"Then you know as well as I do that we can never be together." Willow whispers, turning away from Kara
"We can." Kara tries to tell Willow, gently grabbing her arm. "We can. We just need to figure out a way." Kara gently pulls Willow to face her. "Because I love you...and I want to be with you."
And, wrapped up in the moment, Kara wasn't thinking when her and Willow's lips collided. And within moments, history repeats and Kara drops to the floor
...back in the present...
"Well, that wasn't supposed to happen." Mr Mxyzptlk says, looking at Kara now in the present, her eyes glued to the video where her body is convulsing on the floor. "You just couldn't help yourself, could you?" He teases
"Shut up." Kara grumbles. "This isn't working." Kara grumbles, covering her face with her hands. "I wonder what life would have been like if Willow never came to National City..."
"Your wish is my command." Mr Mxyzptlk says, raising his hand to snap
"No–" Kara exclaims, realizing what she said. But it's too late to stop Mr Mxyzptlk. He snaps his fingers and all goes black
...Kara is thrown into the past...
The world around her is gray. And although she cannot see many things, she is certain that she is not in National City
"Where am I?" Kara whispers, looking around the eerie looking streets. She spots a person walking their dog and rushes over. "Excuse me? Can you help me?" She is ignored. "I'm looking for my friend." She tries again and then the dog walks right through her. Kara gasps, lookign down at her body. "Mxy...what's going on?" She asks, looking at the sky
"Trying to fix it!" Mr Mxyzptlk's voice responds from above. "Somehow it looks like you're a spectator."
"A spectator to what?" Kara asks
"To a life where Willow Greene never came to National City..." Mr Mxyzptlk realizes
Kara looks to her left and sees a sign that says 'Welcome to Delaware'

Kara walks aimlessly around the streets of Delaware. "This isn't working." She mutters to herself. "I'm never going to find Willow because I don't even know where she is." And as if by magic, Kara's body is transported to an underground base...Base Ops. "Mxy?" Kara questions, looking up but there's no answer
Kara walks through the hallways of Base Ops. She had never been to this place before -- she was on a completely different Earth when the others took this place down. It was...eerie...
The first door she sees, she opens and walks into the room. It's a medical lab and it's empty. But on the screen are vitals and stats for Willow Greene. Or, as it is labeled, Krypto-Prime. Kara looks around the medical lab at all the dirty and bloody medical tools. Blood is on the bed as if someone was just treated
Kara pushes through the next door and ends up in a training facility where she gasps upon entering. In front of her is Willow standing at a soldier's attention in an empty room
"Willow!" Kara exclaims, rushing forwards. She stops about two feet away from the green-eyed girl. And then she realizes, Willow had not moved. "Willow?" She asks, waving her hand in front of Willow's face to get a reaction. And there was no reaction. "Willow, it's me!" Kara says. "It's Supergirl."
"Protect Supergirl." Willow Greene says, monotoned. "Krypto-Prime will protect Supergirl. Failure will result in termination." She says, still standing in a soldier's attention pose
"Willow..." Kara whispers. She had heard about this before. About what would happen if Willow failed her mission to protect Supergirl
"Protect Supergirl." Willow repeats, monotoned again. "Krypto-Prime will protect Supergirl. Failure will result in termination. Protect Supergirl."
And it was too much for her...
Kara rushes out of the room, trying to find her way out of the facility altogether but she rounds the corner and falls to her knees in tears. "Mxy...Mxy, get me out of here!" Kara exclaims through tears, looking at the ceiling. Nothing happens. "I wanna get out of here..."
...And with that, Kara is transported back to the present...
On her knees and in tears, Kara is back in her apartment. "You're back!" Mr Mxyzptlk exclaims. "Thank god." He mutters and Kara stands up angrily. "Oh, you're angry." He says
"Of course I'm angry!" Kara exclaims. "What the hell was that?"
"You wanted to see what life would be like if Willow Greene had never arrived in National City." Mr Mxyzptlk recaps
"I didn't want to go there!" Kara tells him
"It's hard to figure out what you humans want and don't want." Mr Mxyzptlk grumbles
"I'm an alien." Kara retorts
"You're also missing the point." Mr Mxyzptlk shoots at her and Kara goes silent. "Kara Danvers...do you understand what all of this means?" He asks. "It means that there is no timeline in which you and Willow Greene are not together."
"The universe is literally tearing us apart." Kara says. "I don't know how to fight fate." She says with a break in her voice
"You do it together." Mr Mxyzptlk says and Kara focuses on his words. "You may not know the answers right now – and I know this isn't what you want to hear right now – but the fact that there is no timeline, no scenario of your life that you and Willow aren't together...I mean, that's a fate in and of itself. That's the universe telling you that you and Willow belong together." It's silent. "I'm sorry I couldn't be of more help. I guess I'll just go back–" But he's cut off by Kara hugging him tightly and crying
"You helped..." Kara whispers. And with that, Mr Mxyzptlk is released...

"So, how did it go?" Alex asks, walking into the apartment. Kara is sitting on the couch under a blanket. She looks over to Alex and sighs. "Not good, I take it?" She asks, sitting down as Kara opens the blanket up to let her join
"It...it went." Kara says before taking a deep breath. "Mxy said that...well, he said that there is no timeline in which Willow and I are not together. But..." She says, taking a deep breath again in order to control her emotions. "...us trying to be together is tearing us apart..." She whispers
"We will find a way." Alex says, pulling her sister into a hug. "I promise you. We will."
