~a year changes you a lot~
-----------
****
The time passes, day by day. Isn't it funny how the days pass by and nothing changes but when you look back, everything is different? When I look back to my time when I first arrived here at Hogwarts, it seems like another life, I was just trying to enjoy my life, trying to find my purpose in the world. I never understood where my place in the world is, I had no definition of the purpose of life. Now, I think that the purpose of life is not to be happy, it's to be honourable, to be useful, to be compassionate, it's to make some difference that you've lived and lived well. And maybe, these things will lead you to be happy, you weren't born to pay bills and just die. The purpose of life is a life of purpose.
Sometimes, I feel like my life is written in the stars because of my prophecy but it's not. The prophecy gives me something to fight for, a possible outcome of a prediction but I think it's just a chance to give my life a purpose, I can choose whether I try my best to make a difference, to try to make the world a better place but still live my own story and trying to life my own life, the one that isn't possibly written in the stars or to stress about it, devoting my whole life to this cause without actually living my own life, becoming so engrossed in this prophecy that I forget everything around me.
I'm trying to make a difference, I'm trying to use my abilities to help my friends, even with small things like an encouraging smile, to make them feel better, trying to stop them from a horrible faith. I think the prophecy is a part of my purpose of my life but it's not my whole purpose, I don't live to defeat the dark lord but I live to make a difference, just like everyone else in the world, I think the small thinks matter.
I sat in a quiet corner at the library, there was a window next to me and I looked outside, watching the drops of water run down the window. I thought that storms were quite calming, I loved how the rain pattered against the windows as I watched the wind rush over the Hogwarts grounds. The dark sky was once again lit up by lightning as I rested my chin on my palm.
I tried to learn for upcoming exams but my mind was elsewhere. I would rather go back to the common room and read a book or sit in my dorm, in front of the windows, daydreaming while watching the lightning flashing across the sky. I closed my book and let out a sigh when I heard footsteps nearing my quiet corner. I looked up to see Lily walking up to my table.
She pulled out the chair and slumped down. We sat there in silence; I was waiting for her to speak because she looked like she couldn't form the sentence that she wanted to tell me.
"Okay," she cleared her throat and shifted uncomfortable in her seat "How did you know that you liked Sirius?"
I let out a laugh, enjoying her awkwardness. "I guess it's about James?"
"Uhm-no?" she avoided looking at me and was suddenly interested in her hands.
"Well, when I'm around Sirius, I feel calm and save, as if he was a cave where I could seek shelter in a raging storm. I feel these butterflies in my stomach whenever he laughs or I catch him looking at me, when I'm around him it's like breathing, liking him is the most natural thing I've ever known."
She stared at me for a few seconds, I didn't notice the smile that had made its way to my face when I talked about my feelings, about him. I watched her eyes boring into mine until she suddenly spoke "I think I like him."
I smirked and raised a brow "Who?"
She rolled her eyes and shrunk back in the seat, her cheeks going red. "You know who."
"Voldemort?"
She shoved my hand and looked away when she mumbled something. I decided to tease her further and leaned closer to hear and asked "What was that, I couldn't understand you?"
"James Fleamont Potter."
I chuckled "I love to tease him about his middle name, you know?"
"Can you please shut up and tell me if this is a good or a bad thing?" she asked groaning.
I sighed and sat up slightly "Listen Lily, that boy is in love with you and if you didn't notice this, you are definitely the most oblivious person I know. This isn't just one of his jokes, he really likes you Lily, he admires you. I don't even know, how many hours I've spent listening to his ramblings about you. "
Lily looked at me, her eyes wide open and asked "Are you serious?"
I smirked and replied "No, that's my boyfriend."
She let out a frustrated groan but I saw a small smile on her lips, she pulled back her chair and stood up. I grabbed her wrist before she could walk away and asked "Where are you going?"
"Prefect duties."
"With Mr.Loverboy?" She let out a frustrated sigh and ripped my hand of her wrist before walking away with a grin.
I smiled to myself, happy that she finally realised her feelings for James, I was thrilled to see what would happen between them. Even though I can't say that I didn't see this coming, I mean first off, it was obvious that Lily didn't hate James as much as she always said and then there was the fact that I already knew that Lily would come up to my table, admitting her feelings. The perks of being a seer, I guess?
I walked out of the library after I grabbed my books and placed them in my bag. I decided to make my way towards the Gryffindor common room, trying to find Sirius, since the last time I saw him was around lunch and I longed for his presence.
The hallways were unusually quiet and I enjoyed the peaceful feeling. Another lightning flashed across the sky, brightening the dark corridors for a second. I had a feeling that Sirius wouldn't be in the common room but I walked in there nevertheless, wanting to put my bag away. I saw Remus and Eloise sitting in front of the fire. Her head rested on his shoulder and his on her head as they read a book, I smiled at the sight and slipped up the stairs to the girls' dorms quietly, not wanting to disturb them.
I slipped a certain piece of parchment out of my bag "I solemnly swear, I am up to no good." I watched as every corner of the castle appeared and looked for the familiar set of footsteps. Sirius name appeared on the Astronomy tower, I put the parchment back in my bag and rushed out of the door, smiling.
My breath was slightly heavy when I walked up the spiral staircase to the Astronomy tower. I saw Sirius sitting on the ground, his back leaning on a wall. His hair was blowing slightly in the wind as his eyes were fixed on the dark sky. I slipped through the door frame and made my way towards him. His head snapped up at the sound of my footsteps.
A smile appeared on both of our faces when I crouched down next to him. "What are you doing here Talea?"
I leaned my head on his shoulder and nuzzled my head further into neck when he slipped an arm around my waist, pulling me into his embrace. I shrugged and mumbled "I just missed you?"
I felt his arm tighten around my waist as he let out a soft chuckle, he kissed my forehead softly and replied "I missed you too."
I pulled myself back a little and looked at his face, he watched me as I lifted my hand and pulled back a few strands of his hair that had fallen into his eyes. My hand travelled down to his chin and pulled his face closer to mine. My lips brushed over his, he let out a breath and his eyes flickered from my eyes to my lips. I smirked slightly and connected our lips.
I forgot about the vivid storm that raged outside. I was drawn to him, the way his eyes danced with mine in the darkness, just like two shooting stars on the same path in the night sky. He pulled me closer, so I was straddling his lap. My hands entangled in his soft hair as his travelled up and down on my sides. He left kisses on my lips that made my heart skip beats. I pulled away because of the lack of air, I shuddered, suddenly feeling the cold on my skin.
Sirius eyes were still fixed on my eyes when he asked "Are you cold, love?" When I shrugged in response, he pulled of his sweater, leaving him in a long-sleeved turtle neck and handed it to me.
"Are you sure that you won't be cold now?" He shook his head and I pulled the black sweater over my head. His smell and his warmth surrounded me instantly and I smiled. His eyes travelled down my body and he pulled me closer to him, my head resting in the crook of his neck when he whispered into my ear "I should let you wear my clothes more often, I could get used to this sight."
I was happy that he couldn't see my flushed face when I nuzzled further into him. We sat there in silence, just enjoying each other's company while listening to the sounds of the storm when his grip around my waist suddenly tightened again.
"Talea?" he whispered, as if he just remembered something.
I was slightly confused but replied nevertheless "Yes?"
"I just noticed that we've never been on a date before!" I let out a chuckle at his dramatic voice and answered "Are you asking me on a date right now?"
I pulled away to look into his eyes and he nodded with a grin "Yes I am, do you Talea Hope Lupin want to go on our first date with me, even if we're already together?"
I let out a soft laugh and nodded my head "Of course."
Once again, he pulled me closer and mumbled into my ear "Good, everything else as an answer would have been embarrassing."
I smiled and he placed a soft kiss on my mouth and asked "Do you want to go back?" He pulled me up and I entwinned our hands, swinging them slightly while we walked back to our common room. We pushed the portrait open and stepped in, enjoying the warmth of the crackling fire.
Sirius nudged my shoulder and pointed his free hand in the direction of the couch. Remus arm was draped around Eloise who was cuddled up into his chest, both sleeping soundly as the book they've read was slowly slipping out of Remus grasp.
I walked up to them and conjured a blanket, I picked up the book and put it onto the table in front of them after placing the blanket over the both of them. Sirius send me a smirk and grabbed my hand, pulling me away from them into the direction of the boys' dormitory.
My eyes widened and I hissed quietly "Where do you think you're going?"
He smirked at me and whispered in my ear "If they are allowed to cuddle all night, we are allowed to cuddle as well. And before you protest, we don't have to go to school tomorrow because it's weekend". I blushed slightly and let him pull me up the staircase.
He pushed the door open, revealing the messy dorm. I could hear Peter's faint snores while James was spread across his bed like a starfish. I turned around to Sirius, who was already at his bed, pulling his shirt over his head, his chest turned into my direction.
I felt my cheeks heat up while my eyes travelled down his body, shit Quidditch is certainly doing him good. "Enjoying the view, love?"
"Hmm?" My head snapped up, eyes widening slightly and eyebrows raised as I shook my head slowly, pouting my lips "I don't know what you're talking about?"
He chuckled and walked up to me, I took a step back, until my back leaned at the wall. I looked up to him while he brushed a strand hair behind my ear, his other hand next to my head. His eyes found mine and he placed a short kiss on my lips, causing butterflies to erupt in my stomach. "It's rude to stare you know? If you wanted to see me with my shirt off, you could have just asked."
His head was slightly tilted, a smirk tugging at the corner of his lips. I chuckled nervously, I couldn't think straight while standing this close to him and when his eyes started to flicker down to my lips every then and now, I swear that I could see them darken a bit.
I cleared my throat as remembered that we were not alone in the dorm I looked away slightly, taking a step back and whispered "I don't have anything to wear to bed."
He pushed himself off the wall and smirked "Well, you could just wear nothing."
I walked up to him, trying to make my heartbeat slow down again when I pulled his face close to mine, my lips brushing over his and whispered in his ear "I could, but I don't think you could handle yourself at that sight. It's not like we could do anything while the boys are in the room, darling."
I pulled away and smirked at the dazed looked on his face as he stared at me with his mouth agape, his eyes staring into mine.
Sirius let out a nervous chuckle before tossing me a Beatles shirt and some shorts. I raised a brow at him and whispered "Turn around creep."
He cleared his throat and I grinned at his flustered state, he seemed to regain his cockiness and whispered"But you were allowed to look."
I glared at him before letting out a huff , a smirk on my lips when I turned into the direction of the door "Well, I could just go-"
"Nope, okay, I'll turn around." I smirked again when his back was turned in my direction and I pulled off my clothes, slipping into the ones that Sirius gave me. I placed his sweater and the rest of my clothes over a chair and walked up to his bed. I slipped under the covers and he turned around, grinning sheepishly at me before joining.
I placed my head onto his chest as his arms wrapped around my middle, pulling me closer to him. He placed one las kiss on my head before whispering "Good night, love."
I smiled and replied "Good night, Snuffles." His chest vibrated as he let out a soft chuckle and I felt my eyes drop, feeling save in his warm embrace and drifting off to sleep.
