5 weeks.....It has been 5 weeks since Tomomi Todoroki was kidnapped, 5 weeks since all of Japan suffered a two day blizzard, since her torture and poisoning, since she killed a villain and since she was pronounced in a comatose state.
When her eyes opened, the sun was hot and very bright. She remembered it being cold and dark. Well, she hadn't seen daylight in two days.
Groaning softly, she moved her head to see Shoto sleep on a mini couch next to the window. He had her knitted light brown blanket over him and his eyes were closed.
Looking at her IV drip, she remembered everything that happened to her. It was like a rush of memory running through her once she looked at her IV drip.
"Tomomi." a voice whispered, making her jump.
Tomomi looked to see Fuyumi walking towards her in a hurry. She had a relieved smile on her face as she made her way over to her bed side.
"Hey, sweetie."
Tomomi looked at her and relaxed. It was okay. It wasn't a dream and she wasn't in that terrible place.
"F-Fuyumi?" She stuttered out, her throat felt course and dry.
Fuyumi grabbed her glass of water as she rose up and rested her back on the head board of the hospital bed slowly. Her throat felt very hot, her neck and arms were a little sore and her head spun a little.
"T-Thank you." She whispered, taking the glass. She drunk some of the cold water before noticing the amount of flowers that surrounded her room.
It looked like a flower shop exploded in here.
"Your classmates all came here." Fuyumi said, looking at the flowers. "The next morning, all of them wanted to come see you. The nurse almost blocked them but Natsuo let them in, knowing you would have wanted it. They were so worried but so happy to know you were okay."
Tomomi blinked as she looked around. It was sweet of them to think of her like that. She was grateful that they were her and Shoto's friends.
".....W-What happened..." She tried to say his name but for some reason, she couldn't. "Is he really-"
"It was self defense." Fuyumi said, knowing what she was going to ask. "The police ruled it as self defense since you were a victim of kidnapping and torture and....almost being a victim of organ trafficking."
Though that was good news that she wasn't going to get arrested for this but she still felt sick. The fact that she killed someone, villain or not, will weigh heavy on her mind for a long time. She now had blood on her hands. And no matter how many times anyone would tell her it was to save her brother......It still haunted her.
Remembering Yukina's words, she understood what she meant when she told her about control being the most important thing for people like her.
"This goes for anyone with an erratci quirk. Control is one of the main keys to being able to use your powers. Especially when it comes to those who understand what it's like to have this happen to them. Without control, nothing good will come from your actions."
I don't even have that much control of my quirk like I thought I did. Tomomi thought, looking at the palms of her hands. Even then....It is almost baffling to see it play out in front of me...I never meant to kill him....I only wanted him to stop.....
"Miss Todoroki," A nurse came in, knocking on the door before she spoke. "You have a few visitors. They say they're your friends."
"Let them in, please." Tomomi said, closing her book Natsuo gave her before he left for his classes in college.
She nodded before walking out, closing the door behind her. After a couple of seconds, in came nearly all of Class 1 - A with Shoto leading. He had gone to the bathroom a while ago. He must have met up with them on his way back.
They brought her more flowers, a few 'Get Well Soon' balloons and even a fancy looking cake box.
"Todo-chan~!" Mina greeted her, excitedly but not hugging her in fears of hurting her. "You have no idea how happy we are to see you are going to be okay."
"Yeah, when we got the text from Iida that you were rushed to the Emergency room, we all nearly freaked out." Denki said, giving her a gentle hug. "I couldn't imagine what you and Bakugou had to go through those two days."
"You're okay, right, big sister?" Asui asked, taking a seat right next to her on her bed.
Tomomi smiled softly, nodding her head. "Yes, I.....I will be."
She couldn't say she was alright now because she wasn't but she knew someday, she'll be okay again. Tomomi didn't want to lie to them but she didn't want them to worry too much.
"I'm happy you all are here." She said sincerely. "Really....Thank you."
"It's the least we can do, Avalanche." Kirishima said, smiling at her. "You've been such a great friend to us, we want to give that back to you."
"I'm just glad you're home." Shoto said, sitting on the other side of her bed, next to her. He placed a hand on hers, giving her a knowing look.
Are you really okay? Especially after.....you know....He asked, using their 'twin telepathy'
Tomomi sighed, pursing her lips as she gripped his hand. No, not yet....but I will be some day....
He accepted her answer, seeing as she was way too honest to lie to him. Or too anyone, for that matter.
"We brought you cake!" Momo said, giving her the medium sized golden cake box. "It's from the same bakery that made the world's most expensive cake in Dubai. I got it imported last week."
Tomomi smiled, opening the box. It revealed a circular ice blue cake with diamonds and pearls all around the side of it with blue diamond snowflakes added to the decor. On top, it said 'Get Well Soon, Tomo-chan!' inwhite frosting.
"It looks really good." She complimented, feeling very grateful. "Again....Thank you all....for being there.."
Asui leaned her head on her shoulder while everyone huddled around her in a group hug. Much to Shoto's dismay, since he was sandwiched in between Denki and his sister. He didn't do affection well but he accepted it, seeing as this was a good moment.
"We'll be there for you....always"
Three days has passed while she was still in the hospital. Because of the fact that she was gaining back the blood she lost, she was ordered to stay a few more days before leaving. Just to be sure.
By day four, Tomomi was able to walk around just fine. The effects of the poison long gone and out of her system, she was granted the permission to walk around the hospital for a little if she wanted to.
Though she took the offer,( mainly wanting to go visit her mother's floor ) she opted to stay in bed to read all of the books Natsuo kept giving her whenever he visited her.
Shoto never left her side. He even got mad when a nurse tried make him leave. So the Doctor said he could still stay if he wanted.
It had been 3:30 in the afternoon and Shoto left to visit their mother's floor for a few hours when Katsuki Bakugou came rushing in. He was wearing a black hoodie, dark sweat pants and sneakers.
His sudden appearance made her jump a little and almost drop her book. When she asked their classmates where was Bakugou, no one knew.
Tokoyami told her that he even ignored them in the group chat and hadn't been talking to everyone since the night he was brought home by the police.
Midoriya also told her that his mom told him that he didn't want to leave his room ever since that night. Which was not something he usually do, given how active he was.
She just thought he was dealing with everything his way. He was as much of a victim as she was and it was a traumatizing event for the both of them. She still had nightmares of it.
So, she just left him alone. Not wanting to bother him. She wasn't expecting to see him just rush in like he was trying to warn her of something.
"Katsuki-chan?" She said, placing her book down. "What are you-"
"I was thinking." He said, pacing back and forth. "I-I-I was thinking about...W-When we were back at the campsite and we were cooking and when I was talking to Kirishima....He said something."
"Katsuki-chan, what are you-"
"Let me finish!" He said quickly, not looking angry or anything. He looked rather frantic and.....nervous? Which was something she never knew he could feel.
"L-Look, Kirishima said something to me that stuck with me." He said, taking a seat next to her bed after tiring himself out from pacing. "He said 'Is being the best really worth losing the one you love for?' and it kept replaying in my mind over and over and over again and at first, I thought he was dumb and didn't know anything about how I felt so I ignored it as best as I can-"
"What are you trying to-"
"Damnit!" Bakugou yelled, raking his fingers through his hair.
Tomomi noticed something in his eyes. He had....tears fall from his face. Her eyes were flushed with shock and sympathy. She has never seen him like this before and it was worrying her so much.
"You are the first person to ever see me at my most weakest and..." He choked back a sob as he tried stopping the tears from falling. "I thought I lost you that night....I have spent my entire life so used to peple expecting me to be the best and be perfect that it was all that I knew. I never knew how to care for other people the way that Deku does or how you do......I never had someone that I loved because I didn't know how to love anyone else but myself..."
He paused, wiping his tears with his sleeve. Tomomi remained silent as she listened to him with a concerned yet gentle look.
".....But when I saw what they did to you....I realized that...." Bakugou trailed off, finally looking at her through his tears. ".....I realized that I may not know what love is entirely but....I do know that I love you so much....."
It was as if her heart stopped when he those words to her. Her lungs felt like they were empty, her eyes widened as she almost didn't register what he said.
"There, I said it." Bakugou said, sniffling a little. "I love you, Frostbite....."
He gently grabbed her hand. Her hands were cold and soft compared to his.
"And.....I may not know how to properly love but I promise you, I will never let anything or anyone ever hurt you again.....I never felt like this towards anyone ever in my life....Although it's scary as hell...I'm willing to open myself up to you, show you that I can be weak and I'm not always the guy everyone thinks I am......
"Because I know I can be weak and I can feel less of a person.....Because I know I can love someone like you..."
By now, Tomomi was in tears. She felt her heart warm, flood itself in emotions, drop, and beat really fast all at once. She had only seen things like this happen in tv or movies. She never thought it would ever happen to her.
Placing a free hand on her mouth, covering her sobs, she looked at Bakugou through her tears. She stayed silent for a couple of seconds, which made Bakugou begin to feel terrified. He didn't want to just have her say nothing after he just showed a side of him that no one has ever seen.
But she began to speak and he felt at ease by her words. At ease and yet so crazy, at the same time.
"You are the first person....to ever tell me they love me like that." She giggled a little through her happy tears.
"I want to be the only one who tells you I love you....always." He admitted, smiling at her softly.
Tomomi held his hand a little tighter, making him return the favor.
With a tearful smile, Tomomi said. "....I love you, too...."
