DREAM SMP AU
( Karl and his ability to skip through time )
My eyes flutter closed, a soft sigh of content leaving my body as I find myself sinking into the heaps of blankets. Their warmth leaves goosebumps on my skin, a feeling I so desperately wished I could cling onto forever
Sleep.
It was all I looked forward to. There wasn't much left for me here, it felt like walking on a tightrope, such little distinction between life and death as the smp fell into chaos. I knew that leaning too much would send me tumbling, tumbling under the reign of a new tyrant or, on the contrary would leave me betraying those who cared for me, my brothers, my father... god I hadn't seen them in so long
And so I slept, I slept to escape losing them, to escape the bad men of the world, but most importantly, I slept to see him.
Him.
A man so breathtaking and powerful, much too perfect to be plagued by a world like mine, and so he never stayed long. He jumped between time, yet he always found his way back, no matter how long it took
I waited every night for him, he was my escape, the eclipse before darkness, the warm smell of baked goods and the comforting embrace of a lost friend
He was everything I could wish for, and so I slept.
The sounds around me faded to whispers, my heart slowed, it's soft beat felt like a symphony, the sound pulling me slowly into a deeper state of bliss
It never took long for him to appear, his warm eyes and bright smile. He wore a purple sweater as usual, a pair of iridescent goggles held back a collections of curls on his head and he appeared, perfect as always
"Karl..."
His nose scrunches as he smiles, his cheeks growing pink as he steps closer to me. His hand finds its way to my cheek, his thumb drawing shapes on my skin. His touch is like hearing your favorite song for the first time, it's like a birds symphony after a rainy day, it left butterflies screaming in the pit of my stomach
"y/n, i've missed you"
His voice was barely above a whisper, but it was oh so sweet
"How long has it been karl"
"For you, three days but- for me, it's been a lifetime"
His hands found their way to my waist, my head now rested comfortably on his chest as he takes a deep breath, his heart beat slowly, the rhythm falling into sync with mine. His head rests atop mine, a comforting silence falling between us before he speaks
"I've seen everything there is to see, I've see seasons fade and people pass but I've never came across anything as beautiful as you"
He tells of his adventures, the places he has been, the wars he's seen. He tells me about all the times that we've met, in the past and in the future, how we've grown old together and have had a family, but i can't help but feel something inside of me break,
"We always end up together y/n, no matter what lifetime we are in"
His voice is soft as he runs his fingers through my hair, he lightly tugs as he finds himself lost in the labyrinth of curls but the feeling brings goosebumps to my skin
Hours wash away like sand in an hourglass, i fear that the sun may arrive too soon and i'd have to let him go again, i'd have to live with just his memories until time would bring him back to me.
I didn't want to have to fall in love again, i wanted to keep him here with me, i wanted to grow old in this lifetime, but i knew he couldn't do that, not when the whole universe depended on him
I held him close, i listened to every word he said, held onto every little piece of him because i knew it would all be gone when the sun hit the horizon and first light filled the smp
"You know i can't stay much longer love, but i promise i'll be back - we'll meet again soon, but for now... you must wake up"
"I don't wanna wake up Karl"
i whimpered, my voice like shattering glass
"you'll be gone when I wake up"
my hands tugged at his sweater, the fabric threatened to rip in between my fingertips but I couldn't let go. I felt pathetic, desperation dug at my heart strings and I weep, I weep at the thought of him leaving, the thought of having to become familiar with his touch in another universe, I weep for all of the memories I must take with me until this lifetime ends and the next begins, a new life where maybe he won't have to leave
He sighs softly, his hands running over my skin once more before he pulls away, he looks down at me, his eyes speckled with gold and green, a sight i could never forget
"I'll always be here, whether it's in this life or another"
He repeats himself, the same phrase that he always seemed to say, the same phrase that would replay in my mind no matter where he was
"But it won't be the same the next time we meet karl, i dont wanna have to fall in love again"
Tears began to swirl in my eyes, my vision becoming blurry- i could almost swear i heard him sniffle as he runs a tired hand through his hair
"It may feel unfamiliar at first but i promise you'll know who i am when it's time"
He tilts my head up to him, his finger grazing my jaw as he looks into my eyes, his cheeks were a perfect shade of pink, the light from my open window seems to only grow brighter- he would be gone soon
I choke back tears as he leans closer, his lips feather over mine before a soft kiss is shared between us. He tasted of honey and bliss, so sweet yet so heartbreaking
He just barely pulls away, just far enough so that he could look down at me. I could see the regret in his eyes, sadness grazes over his iris and i find my stomach burning with anticipation - we both knew it was time
"Please"
I whisper desperately against his lips but his grip on me softens, and as I open my eyes he's gone, rays of sunshine take his place but their warmth could never compare to him. The pain was immeasurable, everything was gone too fast

The leaves fade into a warm ochre and memories of him had long since dispersed in my mind. The smp was so much different now, nations had fallen to nothing and new people seemed to appear like wild flowers on a side road
It was a day like no other, I found myself searching through the town, the smell of niki's freshly baked bread filled the air, a familiar sense of comfort following the warm scent. I watch my shoes as i continue through the town, my mind is scattered with thoughts, an overwhelming spiral of ideas before suddenly another body was crashing into mine
"I'm so sorry-"
I find myself stumbling to catch my balance, the person in front of me chuckling lightly as we back away from each other
I look up, familiar butterflies growing in my stomach as I gasp - those eyes...
"H-have we met before?"
The boy simply smiles, his cheeks becoming a deeper shade of pink as he stares for a moment
"a million times love, but only in your dreams"
