Gracies POV (6 Years Old)
I woke up naturally to the sun coming through my curtains and felt a flutter of excitement. I'm finally seven! I looked at the digital clock on my bedside table, 6:30am. I officially can't stay in bed any longer! I got out of bed and quietly made my way out of my bedroom and in to the hallway debating on which brother I should wake first. Will is more of a morning person than Jay so maybe I'll go with him. I opened Will's bedroom door and saw that he was still sleeping. I smirked to my self as I ran over to him and jumped on his bed causing him to grunt,
"Will wake up" I demanded as I continued my attack on his bed "I'm finally seven" I announced. Will wrapped his arms around my waist and pulled me off my feet, attacking my sides with tickles,
"Happy birthday sweetheart" he said as he planted a sloppy kiss on my cheek causing my nose to wrinkle in mock disgust,
"Gross" I said as I pretended to wipe the kiss off my cheek,
"Is Jay awake?" He asked with a yawn and I shook my head,
"I don't think so" I informed and he smirked,
"Why don't you go wake him up?" He suggested, I giggled as I hopped out of his bed and skipped off to Jays room. I opened the door and walked slowly over to the bed frowning when I noticed it was empty, I squealed with surprise when I felt a pair of arms lift me off the floor and turn me upside down before plopping me safely on to the bed,
"Happy birthday Gracie Lou" Jay said as he tickled my sides,
"Thank you" I said between giggles,
"Are you two gonna lay around all day or are we gonna open some presents?" Will said as he appeared in the doorway,
"Presents?" I asked excitedly causing them both to laugh,
"Well it is your birthday" Jay chuckled as he led me out of his bedroom, following Will in to the living room. There was a pink and purple banner reading happy birthday on the wall along with loads of pink balloons with confetti in them surrounding a small pile of presents on the coffee table wrapped in unicorn wrapping paper,
"It's so pretty!" I shrieked causing both of my brothers to wince slightly,
"Coffee?" Jay asked Will with a smirk,
"Oh yeah" he replied with a yawn as he sat down on the sofa and I sat on the floor next to the coffee table.
I opened up all of my presents whilst my brothers drank their coffee with a smile. I got loads of cool stuff! I got a Cinderella and a Jasmine doll along with all of the accessories for them, I got two new dresses, loads of new arts and crafts stuff, and a new game for my Nintendo switch!
"Thank you!" I exclaimed as I threw my arms around Will and then did the same to Jay,
"You're welcome" Jay replied as he gave me a brotherly kiss on the head,
"Want some breakfast?" Will asked as he walked over to the kitchen,
"Can we have pancakes?" I asked hopefully,
"Sure" he said as he began to get all of the ingredients out. I assisted him with making the mixture whilst he did everything on the stove.
We all sat at the table together and ate our pancakes when Jays phone went off,
"Hey Gracie" he said "get your shoes on" he instructed as I frowned confused,
"Why?" I asked curiously,
"You'll find out in a minute" Will laughed at my impatience "quick" he rushed as I ran and put my Ugg boots on with my pyjamas.
Jay opened the door of our apartment and led me downstairs with Will following not far behind us,
"Ready?" Jay asked as he stood in front of the main door that led to the street,
"Yeah, open the door!" I instructed excitedly as he and Will laughed.
Jay opened the door and led me down the steps of our building were I saw Adam and Kim standing with a Pink bike with a Minnie Mouse helmet on the handle bars!
"Happy birthday Gracie" They both said,
"No way!" I exclaimed, as I turned around and swung my arms around Jays waist and did the same with Will,
"Thank you so much!" I squealed excitedly as I ran over to it,
"We had to get it delivered to Adams place so you wouldn't see if before today" Will explained,
"Thank you" I said as I gave Adam a hug which he returned,
"You're welcome sunshine" he replied,
"Can I go out on it today?" I asked hopefully,
"Sure" Jay smiled "you can't go in your PJ's though" he remarked causing everyone to laugh.
Kim and Adam left to go home and Jay, Will and I went in to get dressed for the day,
"Can I put one of my new dresses on?" I asked excitedly,
"If you want" Jay replied as he disappeared off into his room.
Once we were all dressed and ready we walked to the park, Jay carried my bike until we got there because Chicago is super busy today! Once we got to the park I was super nervous because it was the first proper time riding a bike without the stabilisers,
"I don't think I wanna do it anymore" I said nervously,
"Why? What's up?" Will asked, confused by my sudden change of heart,
"What if I fall off and hurt myself?" I asked nervously,
"We won't let that happen Gracie" Jay assured "come on, hop on any we'll help you" he encouraged.
I did as I was told got on the bike, but not before Will secured the helmet on my head. It took some time, but after a while I was riding around the park without Will or Jay holding on to me!
We stayed at the park for about three hours before Will said we needed to head home,
"Our apartment's that way" I said confused as to why I was being led in the opposite direction,
"I just need to stop by the firehouse so I can pick something up from Severide" Jay explained, I shrugged my shoulders as we continued our walk to 51.
When we arrived there was no one around, strange,
"Why is it so quiet?" I asked suspiciously,
"I guess everyones inside" Will replied with a shrug. We walked past the trucks and in to the main room,
"SUPRISE!" A crowd shouted causing me to jump and cling on to Jay who picked me up putting me on his hip, laughing at my reaction. I looked around and saw the room had pink balloons all over and a big banner on the wall that read 'HAPPY BIRTHDAY GRACIE'. I also saw all of my extremely large family! People from both of my brothers work and all of firehouse 51.
"Happy birthday Gracie" Matt Casey said to me with a smile as he handed me a gift and a card,
"Thank you" I said shyly, still taking in what was happening,
"Did you get anything nice?" He asked as I nodded,
"I got a new bike and I can ride it without my stabilisers now!" I stated proudly,
"Wow! Thats's great" he exclaimed as Jay placed me on to the floor,
"Connor" I shouted as I ran over to him, allowing him to pick me up,
"Hey sweetheart" he greeted "happy birthday" he said with a grin,
"Thank you" I replied with a cheeky grin,
"I got you something" Nat said as Connor placed me back on the floor and she handed me a gift bag from the table behind him,
"Can I open it now?" I asked turning to Will who nodded, I opened up the bag and pulled out a Tiara along with a badge with the words 'Birthday Princess' on it in big purple letters,
"Thank you Nat!" I exclaimed as I gave her a big bear hug which she returned.
I put my new tiara on and Will pinned the badge to my dress. I saw Jay across the room talking to Adam, Severide and Antonio and I skipped over to him,
"Jay" I exclaimed "look what Natalie got me" I said, referring to my tiara and badge,
"Beautiful" he commented with a smile "you look even more like a princess now" he said.
"Adam, I can ride my new bike without the stabilisers!" I exclaimed with a proud smile,
"Ata girl" Adam said as he held his hand up for me too high five it.
We spent about an hour and a half talking with everyone that had come and I couldn't believe how many more gifts and cards I had gotten from everyone! I had so much fun seeing everyone and eating lots of yummy food that Peter Mills's mom and sister had made for us.
Suddenly the lights flicked off leaving only the light coming in from the windows and Will walked over with a Unicorn birthday cake with seven candles sticking out of the top! It is so cute! Jay picked me up so I could see the cake properly as everyone began to sing happy birthday to me, making me slightly shy.
"Make a wish" Will said as I closed my eyes super tight to make the wish come extra true and blew out the candles causing everyone to cheer.
"What did you wish for?" Mouch asked as I shook my head,
"I can't tell you otherwise it won't come true!" I informed as everyone laughed,
"Some people just don't know how magic works, hey Gracie" Otis said as he shook his head.
The party continued on for another hour before I began to get tired and walked over to Will, rubbing my eyes in the process. Will noticed me and pulled me on to his lap, allowing me to rest my head on his chest,
"Have you had a good day?" He asked as he gave me a kiss on the top of the head,
"Yes thank you" I confirmed "that cake is so cool! I love it" I exclaimed,
"We thought you'd like it" he said with a chuckle. I don't know how long I had been sat there for but I must have fallen asleep. The next thing I remember is waking up as Jay picked me up off of Wills lap and carrying me to a car. We didn't drive here, I thought to myself. I guess someone must be giving us a lift home. I was too tired to care as I spent the next half hour drifting in and out of sleep. I must have been really tired because when I woke up the next morning I was in my own bed in my pyjamas. Best birthday ever!
