I woke up early to my phone ringing.

Who the hell is calling at this hour?

I roll over to pick up my phone. The bright light from the lit screen hurt my eyes. I squinted to read Miguel's name calling me. I let out a tired groan but answer it.

"Miguel! Why are you calling to early?" I asked with a tired voice. "Y/n... it's 9 o' clock in the morning..."

There was a pause.

"Ok... and your point is?" I asked. Lets just say, I'm not too much of a morning person. Miguel chuckled in the background. "You're ridiculous
y/n/n." He said, still laughing. "Yeah, yeah. I know, I know." I said, slightly sitting up in my bed.

"Anyways, do you have any plans today?" Miguel asked. "Hmm. My plan was to sleep, but you already ruined that, sooo..." I said, a smile growing on my face. "I'll take that as a no, then!" Miguel said happily. "What's up Miguel?" I asked him.

"So... I started taking Karate classes." He said. "What? Really? I thought you'd be too weak!" I said, joking with him. "Wow. You're so mean!" He said with a voice of offense. "Yeah, I love you too Miguel!" I said. "Y/n! Just listen! Ok, so I started Karate. And I was wondering... if you would want to join me too!" He said with hope in his voice.

"Oh for real?" I asked. "Yeah! My sensei is a really good guy too, I think you'd like him." Miguel said. "Oh yeah? Fine. I'll go." There was a long pause of silence.

"Oh! You mean now?" I asked. "Yeah! When else would I mean?!" Miguel said. "But it's so earlyyyyy!" I complained. "I'll meet you outside in half an hour." Miguel said before he hung up.

I put my phone down and rolled out of bed. I went to the bathroom and freshened up. Then I went back to my room to figure out something to wear. "What do I even wear?" I asked myself out loud.

I rummaged through my closet. I finally decided on leggings, a Queen band t-shirt, and tennis shoes. I brushed my hair and styled it in a way it would stay out of my face. It was about time to leave, so I gathered my other extra things and made my way out the door.

I closed the front door to see Miguel sitting on a half-wall on his phone. "Alright! You got me up this early, so let's go before I fall asleep again." I said. He stood up and started walking. "Where are we going?" I asked, jogging to catch up to him. "My dojo. Don't worry, it's not that far."

As we walked there, we talked about random things like 'Is cereal a soup?' and 'Is a hotdog a sandwich?'. Obviously cereal is a soup and as for the hotdog thing... I couldn't decide.

We finally arrived to a strip mall not too far from our apartment complex. "Here it is!" He said, gesturing to it with his hands like a game show host. "This is it....?" I asked with a dull voice. "Oh shut up! Lets go." Miguel said as he grabbed my hand and pulled me in.

The inside was sort of bare, except for a punching dummy, some mats on the floor, and some painted-on words on the wall. There was also a blond haired, sort of older man punching the punching dummy.

"Hey sensei. This is y/n. She wants to join." He said, looking between me and the man. He stopped punching the dummy and looked at us. "A girl? In Cobra Kai? Hah, that's funny." He said with a chuckle as he started punching the dummy again. Me and Miguel stood in silence, staring at him. "Oh you're serious?" He said.

"Of course I am!" Miguel said. "Listen, there's no girls in Cobra Kai." He stated firmly to Miguel. "What? Why?" He asked. "For the same reason there aren't girls in the army." He said. I felt a look of confusion appear on my face.

"Sensei, can I talk to you? Alone?" Miguel asked. The man rolled his eyes and went to his office, Miguel close behind.

I couldn't hear what they were saying. I just stood there awkwardly, debating on whether I should just leave or not.

Right as I was about to turn around to leave, both Miguel and the man walked out of the office.

"So?" I asked, wanting to know what the man decided. "I'll see what you've got. But if you don't have anything, you're out. Diaz! Miss..." he said, asking for my last name. "Oh! It's y/l/n." I said. "Miss y/l/n! Fall in!" He yelled as me and Miguel walked to the middle of the mat.

"Wait! Shoes off the mat. You're disrespecting my dojo." The man yelled, pointing at my shoes. I took them off then stood across from Miguel. We were facing each other. "Fight!" The man yelled loudly.

"Y/n/n, I don't think I can do this. I don't want to hurt you! Please just don't be mad! Please forgi-" Miguel pleaded as I ran up to him and swept his legs, causing him to fall to the ground. I laughed at Miguel's face of surprise.

"Holy shit y/n! Where'd you learn that?" He stumbled as he got up off the ground. "I may or may not have taken a couple karate classes back in Florida." I said with a smirk.

"The girl's a natural cobra... Alright! Enough talking! Miss y/l/n...." The blonde man yelled. Me and Miguel walked closer to the man. "I'll let you in. But you have to prove that you're Cobra Kai material. No mercy." He said, pointing to the words on the wall.

"Yes sir." I said. "No. From now on, you will call me sensei. Do you understand?" He asked loudly. "Yes sensei." I said. "I CANT HEAR YOU!" He yelled louder. "YES SENSEI!" I yelled. "Good!"

The rest of the class we went through punches. How to punch, where to punch, stuff like that. It was a pretty successful class. I already knew the basics though. I took some classes back in Florida because the kids at my school were...

Let's just say, no walk in the park.

It's Monday now, and me and Miguel just arrived at school. As we walked in, I noticed posters for the Halloween dance all around school.

Ugh.

School dances. I never liked them. I don't know if it's because no one ever asked me or the fact that I hated the idea of being in a room full of people I didn't like.

"A halloween dance?" Miguel asked, looking at the posters. "I guess so." I said, still looking forward. "Are you gonna go?" Miguel asked, looking over at me. "Probably not. I'm not too into dances." I said looking at him. "Why not?" Miguel asked.

"I don't know. They're just not my thing, I guess." I said, looking forward again. "What if Eli asked you?" Miguel said, nudging me while wiggling his eyebrows up and down.

I felt my cheeks heat up quickly. "Miguel! Shush! I said, I don't like him like that!" I said, looking around to make sure no one heard. "Yeah, the blush on your cheeks really backs you up on that one." He said, winking at me.

The bell rang, which signaled our first period. Me and Miguel walked our separate ways to get to our first period classes.

What if he does ask me? Would I say yes? I kind of hope he does... Oh yeah. I'd definitely say yes.

"Cyber bullying is no laughing matter. Sending a cruel message to someone online, can be just as hurtful as saying it to their face." Counselor Blatt said to everyone in the lunch room.

No one was really listening. We were all either on our phones or looking at each other aimlessly. I was randomly looking around when I saw Kyler staring at me. He winked when I noticed, and I replied with a wince of disgust as I looked away.

"I'm not gonna name names, but the other day, a mother called me up, because her son was crying, after some kids online made fun of his facial deformity." Counselor Blatt told everyone.

Oh shit.

Everyone then turned their gaze to face Eli. He covered his lip with his finger and tilted his face down. He was embarrassed. So was I. But I wasn't embarrassed of Eli... I was embarrassed for Eli.

I feel bad for him. It's sad he can't see how awesome and beautiful he is for himself!

Like my school in Florida, almost everyone here were assholes. Everyone except for our little group, of course.

Well... actually... Demitri is an asshole sometimes too...

I was taken out of my thoughts by Miguel speaking up. "You know, if you're sick of getting bullied, our karate dojo is looking for recruits." He said, looking at Demitri and Eli.

"Our?" Demitri emphasized. "Yeah. I joined too." I said before taking a drink of my water. Demitri scoffed and rolled his eyes, before directing his gaze to Eli. "You hear that Eli? A little Karate training and you're gonna kick some major ass!" Demitri said super sarcastically, while making little karate gestures.

"We're serious Demitri." I said sternly. Miguel then added, "Our sensei is the real deal, and I'm pretty sure we can get you both discounts." Miguel said, looking back and forth between Demitri and Eli.

"As enticing as that sounds, I think we'd rather spend our afternoons playing Crucible Control than getting hit in the face." Demitri explained, before looking back down at his lunch tray.

"Demitri, why don't you ever let Eli speak for himself? You're not his mom, you know." I asked, rolling my eyes. Demitri did the same and looked back down at his tray.

"Oh and one more thing. While we're all looking forward to the Halloween Dance, let's make sure our costumes are culturally sensitive. For example, instead of sexy nurse, maybe try, gender-neutral hospital employee!" Counselor Blatt continued.

Everyone laughed at this.

Does she seriously think kids are gonna dress modestly? At this day and age? Definitely not.

"Aw. There goes my costume idea." I said, sadly.

"W-What were you gonna be?" Eli asked quietly.

"I was gonna be a sexy 80's aerobics instructor!" I said, which made the people at my table laugh a little. "I'd like to see that." Miguel stated as he laughed. "Oh shut up! Of course you would, you perv!" I said, which made the table laugh a little louder.

I was waiting outside the school for Miguel so we could walk home together. I could hear kids passing by talking about the dance and what they were gonna wear.

I probably wasn't going to go. Sure, my friends are going, but like I said, dances weren't my thing. I was taken out of my thoughts by someone calling my name. "It's about time you're here! Come on, let's go!" I said, turning around as I started walking. The person said my name again. I looked to see who it was, and it was Eli.

"Oh my god, Eli! Im so sorry! I thought you were Miguel!" I said, walking back towards him. "It's ok..." Eli said with a smile, rubbing the back of his neck. "What's up?" I asked him.

"So... a-are you going to the dance tonight? You didn't give an answer at lunch." He asked nervously. "I wasn't planning on it. They aren't really my thing. And I also wasn't asked by anyone." I said, looking at my feet. There was a pause.

"Hey y/n..." Eli said, making me look back up at him. "I was wondering.. I-If maybe... you'd want to go to the dance... with me?" He asked, sounding super nervous.

I heart dropped at his question.
Did he really want to go with me? Eli? Wants to go with me? What? Really?

I was thinking for a few seconds. I didn't realize I hadn't said anything yet. This must've made him more nervous.

"Nevermind... I-I knew it was a stupid question... I'm sorry.... Someone like you would never-" Eli said quietly and quickly before I cut him off, "Yes." I said. "What?" He asked.

"Yes, Eli. I would absolutely love to go with you." I said, smiling at him. "Wait, really? A-Are you messing with me?" He asked. "Of course I'm not messing with you, dork! I'd love to go!" I said with a happy voice. I could see Eli's face light up. "Great! Amazing! A-Awesome!" He said with his famous Eli smile.

"I'll meet you here, tonight?" I asked him. "Yeah! I'll see you later!" He said happily, before turning around to walk to his mom's car, which was waiting to pick him up.

And again, right on time, Miguel walks up. We turned and started walking back to our apartments.

"So..." he said. "So?" I asked, looking up at him. "Don't play dumb with me! I just saw everything that happened between you and Eli!" He said excitedly. "What? Y-You did?" I asked as my cheeks got red.

"Yeah! He asked you to the dance! And you said yes!" He said a little louder this time. "Miguel! Lower your voice! I'm sure he just asked me as a friend! It's no big deal!" I said, red-faced, looking at my feet. I started to walk faster to escape this conversation.

"Y/n/n! You can't get away from this conversation!" He yelled as he walked faster as well. I'm pretty sure I looked like a tomato.

"So, what time did Sensei say to get to the dojo today again?" I asked, trying to change the conversation. Miguel knew I was trying to change the conversation, but he answered anyways.

"5 o' clock." He said, as we both started walking at a normal pace again.

We arrived at the complex, and I made my way to my apartment door. "I'll meet you out here again at 4:30!" I yelled to Miguel before I walked in. "Alright! See you in a bit!" He yelled as we both entered our apartments.

✯¸.•'*¨'*•♡︎ ♡︎•*'¨*'•.¸✯

"Miguel! Lets go!" I said, knocking on Miguel's front door. "Just a second!" He yelled. I rolled my eyes a little and continued waiting for Miguel.

After a few minutes he was finally ready to go. "Geez! You take longer than me to get ready!" I said as he shut his front door. "Oh shut up
y/n/n! Why are you always so mean to me?!" He asked, as he pretended to be offended. "You know it's because I love you!" I yelled as I started walking to the dojo. "Yeah, yeah. You should be saying that to Eli!" He yelled back.

I didn't say anything. "Ha! Gotcha!" He said, laughing. I blushed and started walking faster. "Let's go Miguel! If we're late, we're gonna have to do 50 push-ups on our knuckles!" I yelled back.

✯¸.•'*¨'*•♡︎ ♡︎•*'¨*'•.¸✯

We were finally at the dojo. It was about 5:00.

We waited outside the dojo for about an hour and sensei still hasn't shown up. "We were on time, right?" I asked Miguel. "I'm pretty sure! I'm not sure where he is." Miguel said, puzzled. "Maybe he-". My statement was cut off by a loud rev of a car engine. "There he is."

Johnny stepped out of his car and towards the door of the dojo. "Hey sensei, you said to be here at 5, right?" I asked him as he went up to unlock the door.

"Yeah, but today's training is cancelled." He said in a mono tone. "What? Why?" Miguel asked. "Cause I said so." Johnny said before walking into the dojo. I caught the door right before it closed so me and Miguel could follow him in.

"Hey sensei, there's something I wanna show you." Miguel said, grabbing his laptop out of his backpack. "Look, I'm really not in the mood." Johnny said as he grabbed a beer out of his mini fridge. "But I really think you'll like it." Miguel said, typing something into the computer.

"It's a Cobra Kai webpage. I made it in study hall." Miguel said. "Oh! So that's why you were ignoring me!" I said. "Haha, yep! Sensei, click on the snake."

Miguel continued to explain the webpage to Johnny because he knew almost nothing about the internet at all. They also talked about classic rock, which is one of my favorite subjects because I LOVE classic rock. Then sensei had a weird look of revaluation on his face. "What are you thinking..." I said with a skeptical voice.

"Both of you. Meet me at the high school at midnight. Don't be late." He said. "W-What for?" I asked him. "You wanna learn how to kick ass? First, you gotta learn how to kick." He said to us.

Me and Miguel looked at each other, a small smile growing on each of our faces.

✯¸.•'*¨'*•♡︎ ♡︎•*'¨*'•.¸✯

It was the next day. Last night, me and Miguel met Johnny at the school. We snuck into the swimming pool room. Johnny said he knew the guy that worked there, but I could smell his BS from a mile away.

He tied our hands behind our back and pushed us into the pool. We had to use only our legs to swim up to the top of the pool. It was hard at first, but both me and Miguel got the hang of it. Soon after, we got caught by a night guard and we had to run out before he could get us.

Me and Miguel were practicing our kicks on a board our sensei was holding. We both ended up breaking the board! I gotta say, Miguel was pretty good at kicking.

"I wish I could show my mom what I did to the board, but if he knew where I was right now, she would kill me." Miguel said, putting his socks back on. "Yeah, I wish I could tell my uncle. He's not one for violence." I said, slipping my shoes on.

"What's wrong with you?" Miguel asked Johnny. "Nothing. Don't worry about it. Anyways, you two. Get your costumes on. I'm driving you to the dance. We're gonna pick up more students." Johnny said, pointing back and forth between me and Miguel.

Miguel picked up his costume. It looked like it had been handmade out of different floral sheets. "What the hell is that?" I asked him. "It's my Halloween costume." Miguel said as he continued putting on the costume. "My yaya made it. It started off as Deadpool. Then I think it was Spider-Man, then it just kind of became a generic superhero." He said as he finished putting the costume on.

"Yeah, a poor one at that." Johnny said. "Hah, you're Poor-Man!" I said laughing, which also made Johnny chuckle. Johnny walked over to me and gave me a fist bump.

"Well, I can't let you go out like that." Johnny said, looking Miguel up and down. "Why not?" Miguel said, holding out his arms and looking down at his costume. "Because we have a reputation to uphold." I said. "Well then what do you suggest?" Miguel asked us.

Sensei let out an evil laugh...

Me and Miguel looked at each other, then back at Johnny.

Gulp.

What was he thinking...?
