Time to wake up
My make up
Put on my biggest shoes
Turn my frown
Upside down
There is no time to lose
Paint a smile
For a while
The clapping has begun
Round around
I'm a clown
The show it must go on
Pretend to laugh
At every gaff
Show exaggerated surprise
I get drenched
My teeth are clenched
Anguish drowned out by your cries
Spin bow tie
Squirts in your eye
There's delight on your face
Run, trip and fall
Pretend to bawl
Then carry on with the chase
It's one big act
A fraud in fact
None feel the pain that I hide
I'm a buffoon
A stupid loon
But I do have some pride
This silly blob
Will do his job
Even if I do feel so down
In my caravan
I'm just a man
With real tears behind the clown
