I watch the girl in the sea of soldiers, on the training field
She doesn't need no metal; her eyes are already a shield
There is something different about her, about her fixed gaze
There is ambition in her eyes and a scorching fire lit ablaze
This fire is cold, as if the fiery ice in it was burning itself out
And I understand that this girl, like me, was once lost without
The realization that even though the world was cruel, it still had
Something to live for, something to keep you from turning mad
That thing was hope, and I could see in the girl's silver grey eyes
That the girl had long stopped depending on hope to survive
Instead she was relying on her ambition, her fire, and her dreams
But however successful she'd do in the beginning with that scheme
No one lasts without hope and without it you'd be lost in the world
I know this feeling too well, for I too have been lost as life swirled
Into storms my mind molded into battles, monsters and demons
And different demons come and go with the come and go of seasons
I want to help her out of shallow water before she goes in too deep
Before her fire burns itself out and she goes into an everlasting sleep
