In sheltered cages apart we stand,
this was something we never planned.
Fabled places flee our closed minds,
gradually we are separated by our binds.
As we glance at the other one last time,
a small spark flickers in the cold night,
and a small tear escapes from our eyes.
Images pour in of our gleaming past,
eternal memories of peace so vast.
Step by step we slowly become even,
hands as one we avert our gaze to Eden.
Wave by wave we grasp pain and sorrow,
breath by breath we ascend to tomorrow.
In time our lives will be quickly disregarded,
our peace tossed into the sea unguarded.
Yet one thing that will never be forgotten,
the blossomed love we have begotten.
