"Are you sure he won't shank us?" Tommy asked worried
"I'm certain he would have done it earlier if he wanted to-"
"Yea and he wouldn't have patched me up if he wanted to it's a waste of supplies"
"Yea Yea ok...but if he pulls anything I say we make a mad dash for L'manburg"
"Tommy calm down...I think we can trust him..." y/n said softly as she fiddled with her sleeves that were quite large on her.
"Yea Yea blabbermouth- better hope Wilbur doesn't hear that you spilled" Tommy retorted
"Seriously though- I mean it...and he won't know unless he's told-" y/n said with a frown.
"I may be older than you lot but I'm not deaf in the slightest-" they were broken from their conversation as Phil looked over his shoulder at them giving them a firm look that seemed oh so familiar before focusing on the dirt path before him
"Sorry-" tubbo said as he looked to the other two suspiciously who seemed to give him a similar look to his own
"So um...have a wife?" Tommy said as he pulled the first thing he could from his mind
Phil went tense and he looked down to his hand where two gold bands wrapped around his finger "Used to..." he said quietly
"Tommy that's rude-" tubbo hissed and gently punched his arm
"Well sorry I just asked a question-" he hissed
They were interrupted by a soft laugh from phil
"It's fine he didn't know..." he said a bit dryly. They seemed to feel a bit guilty still though
"Um...what happened..." Tommy asked as his curiosity got the better of him and though he received another smack from tubbo he awaited an answer
"A fire... happened a good...15 years or so ago..." he said as he glanced back at them.
"Uh...I'm sorry...why don't we talk about something else?" Tubbo said as he glared at Tommy.
Y/n was quiet, she got a weird feeling from him, his face was ever so familiar, and the story reminded her of the one Wilbur had told her when she was younger.
They walked with a bit of light awkward conversation about random things like bee farms and how cold could it get in winter, they also learned that Phil was an inhabitant of the unlivable Arctic.
Y/n was silent mostly until she noticed Phil's ears, they were pouted seemingly naturally.
"Hey Phil....um...how come you have wings? At home they told us the winged folk aren't around.." y/n said finally
"Oh- well I've never heard that one but actually a lot of us are here with you..but we hide it...like the way tubbo does...why do you ask?" He seemed just as curious.
"No reason- sorry" she said as she gently squeezed her hands. Up ahead they could see a small town and it reminded them how tired their legs were getting, hours had passed as the sun was right above them now.
"Can we stop in this town Phil?" Tommy asked trying to keep the whining from his voice but it was dreadfully obvious that he was getting tired.
"Ehh sure...this place is under the smp but just don't take your coverings off until we get somewhere safe ok?" He said as he slowed a bit to stay closer with them. The town was smaller but bustling with energy as they walked in and Phil's wings disappeared as he had stated earlier and he gently took y/n and tubby by their hands as he led them to a small diner and had them sit in a booth . It was cozy and warm inside and there was loud laughter and happy conversation going on all around them.
Phil managed to put in an order for something they could drink and a small bit of food to keep their energy up.
"So... what did you three to get on the kings black list?" Phil asked quietly
"Well- we just won a war with the dickhead and he made us come stay over and tried to get us to stay and then he had some kind of meltdown and of course we ran because I wasn't armed to the teeth like they were to protect myself- when we were running though this ugly brute with fire hands managed to burn y/n" Tommy said as he messed with his bandana.
"Oh...ok?" Phill was really more confused but soon their drinks and food were brought by and no more questions were asked as the teens removed their face coverings to eat.
As they ate, some people walked in. Some of the king's men, they went tense as did everyone else. It was Punz one of the head guards and some others that kept their helmets on. Punz walked around silently as he looked over most of them there but didn't seem to pay any mind to the four of them in the corner
"As some of you have heard...the king is upset...he's had a misunderstanding with the higher ups of the recently released L'manburg and is now looking to find and fix the issue...posters have been hung in the main square...there is a reward for anyone who can give information and if you manage to return them to the king an even larger reward...they are wanted alive and well...if any harm should come to them there will be consequences...that is all" he said and left. The four in the corner froze in fear as commotion started up again, now it was about them even though nobody seemed to know it was them. People seemed curious as the rumors ran a mile per second as well as their growing anxiety. They finished quickly and left payment on the table before they quickly covered their faces and they left the little diner quickly headed towards the exit of the town trying to avoid any guards and avoid the town square. They tried to leave quickly but it pained Y/n to move too much so they where slightly hindered by this as they made their escape and soon the sign for their leaving was seen up ahead but to their dismay not only was Punz there talking with the townsfolk but Sapnap was there as well as he was silently just watching everyone as they went back and forth.
Phil panicked a bit but soon he looked at the scared teens and he took a breath "do you trust me?" He asked quietly catching them off guard
"What?" Tubbo asked softly as worry filled him
"It's a yes or no question mate!" Phil said as he pulled them out of the view of any guards.
"I...yes...maybe? Wait yes-" tubbo said nervously. They had no idea what Phil had planned but it definitely wasn't what they expected. Phil made his way to the exit of the town the three behind him although Phil now had his hat and poncho off as he led the three to the exit. Y/n had on the bucket hat that cover her face quite a bit Andy he poncho to cover up her more lady like features to make her look more like a boy, Tubbo and Tommy on the other hand, had their hair styled in ways they wouldn't have ever even dared as Phil had made Tubbo's go more flat and hang similar to his own but it covered his face and Tommy had his in pigtails and he had on some bits of flower dye almost like some kind of poorly don't makeup as well as Phil had tried to make him just look as girly as possible. Of course the guards stopped them looking over them a bit confused
"Good day sir...not to bother you but is I assume you've heard we're looking for some members of L'manburg...would you happen to know anything about them?" Punz seemed suspicious as he looked over them
"Sorry lad but it's just me and my children today, got my boys and my pretty princess-" he smiled at them and he gently patted each of them being sure to be as affectionate as possible. Tommy was seething but he forced the best smile he could be he looked a bit scary quite honestly.
Punz nodded a bit slowly "ok...well..um..I suppose...if you see or hear anything be sure to turn in the information for a reward" Punz said as he avoided eye contact with Tommy but waved them on.
Punz shivered a bit uncomfortable while sapnap seemed to watch them curiously
"I'll be back I need to check something..." he said and he headed the direction he had watched them disappear to not letting Punz protest.
Once they got far enough away from the town tubbo and y/n burst out in laughter as Phil chuckled a bit.
"YOU FUCKERS! HOW COULD YOU MAKE ME DO THAT!" Tommy screeched as he pulled his hair out then he rubbed at his face furiously. Y/n lifted the hat to breath as she laughed hard and had to stop and hold her stomach in pain as she laughed.
Tubbo had fixed his hair already as he wheezed a bit trying to keep himself standing
"What's wrong daughter of mine? Didn't you enjoy our trip into town?" Phil couldn't help but tease him a bit as Tommy could have sent himself to the moon with the rage that he was barely able to sputter out.
They soon had to stop as y/n and tubbo had fallen and started to laugh too hard.
While they had their fit of laughter a set of amber eyes were trained on them from the shadows of the forest behind them.
Phil helped the two up eventually and he smiled at them as Tommy pouted.
"Thanks 'dad'" y/n said as a joke really as she managed to calm and she returned the poncho to Phil. While her and the boys managed to actually laugh a bit Phil felt her words pull at his heart strings. He smiled and gently pressed the hat further over her face making Tommy laugh a bit more
"Ok ok cmon now before we get caught again" Phil said with a smile.
The three teens still giddy from their fun seemed to pick up the pace as they calmed a bit. Y/n kept the bucket hat on once she adjusted it to let her see properly while Phil had his poncho back on but he didn't mind that she wore his hat.
They walked for a longer but the moon snuck up on them out of nowhere and they were forced to set up camp in a nice little field of flowers. Y/n actually put the tent up while Tommy and tubbo got busy finding food and Phil set up the camp fire.
"So...you three are quite close eh?" Phil asked Y/n softly as he poked as the small fire he had started.
"Yea! We're family-" she said cheery as she finished getting the bed together and she sat by Phil.
"Really now?" Phil seemed interested
"Yea it's kind of crazy actually- so me and my big brother came to Logstedshire a when I was a baby, and we were taken in by Thomson our dad- a few months after he found us Tommy was left at our door- dad doesn't know how but he and my brother really think that Tommy is closer to us then what we think- then tubbo was left with us when he was ten and time and Tommy and I were about nine- we don't know if dad was right or not but he still raised us like we were" she said as she watched the fire get bigger.
"Oh, what...what might your brothers name be?" He asked as he looked at her a bit anxiously.
"Oh- his name is Wilbur-" she said simply.
Phil covered his mouth a bit as tears swelled in his eyes. Y/n looked up concerned but before she could say anything Tommy and tubbo were rushing over and Phil quickly went from seemingly upset to quite worried
"What's wrong?" He asked
"W-we climbed a-a t-tree to find some animals b-but when we got up there we saw someone following us, w-we tried to play it cool and I think we lost him but he was a guard" tubbo managed to say in a panic as he looked over his shoulder in fear that the man would appear.
Phil got nervous and he ushered them into the tent "stay inside...pretend to sleep or something...if they come by we'll have to keep the story up-" he said as he carefully tucked them in and then he left the tent to sit watch barely in time as he soon saw a man walking from the forest in full armor. He nearly had a heart attack but he as calmly as he could waved at him long a bit confused but welcoming.
"Oh hello again, how can I help you?" Phil said as sapnap came closer
"Your the 'father'?" Sapnap asked not really going for pleasantries
"Y-Yes- but I'm afraid to say that my little trouble makers are all in bed so keep your voice down-" Phil said as he tried to look as calm as possible
"Listen...I'm not an idiot like my partner back there but...please...is she actually ok..." his whispered words caught him off guard
"...she's ok but it will take a while to heal....it will leave a scar as well but nothing too bad...." he said and watched as Sapnap clenched his fists a bit but not in anger.
"O-ok.... I.. can I talk with her?" He looked to him hopefully
While Phil was thankful he wasn't there to arrest them he wasn't about to let him get away completely
"Sorry but she is in fact asleep...she's easy to exhaust because of it...why...why aren't you taking them?" Phil asked softly
"I...I know the king did something...don't know what but I know he's losing it...and I don't want her there ok.. she...she needs to be safe...but I..I do plan to come see her...if she lets me...can you..can you give her something when she wakes up ?"
Phil was stunned and simply noddy but was even more stunned as sapnap gave him a small bag of sorts.
"I have to go not but..thank you so much" Sapnap said and he headed away quickly.
Once Phil was sure that he was gone he opened the tent to look at the teens expecting them to be up and alert but to his surprise they were actually all out cold. He couldn't help but smile a bit and he sighed softly then he placed the bag inside and he looked over them. Tommy and Tubbo were on either side of y/n like they were protecting her. He he placed his poncho over them then he laid down himself for the night.
