fall

By URANIUM-GIRL

Watch the leaves tint with a shade of yellow

Greens and reds and somewhere in between

Fall is here to taint orange on green meadows

And orange on green canopies of trees tall and lean

Fall with hair of orange willow wisps

And eyes of caramel and honey

Fall that makes leaves dry and crisp

And a cold wind that makes your nose runny

Fall who wears a cloak of dried pine needles and leaves

The cloak that leaves a blazing carpet on the ground

See in the fields bundles of gold grain sheaves

See the leaves spin around and around

Fall with a red and black checkered scarf

And a silky and delicate red gown

Fall with a cold breeze that makes some cough

For the hot Summer has long gone

Watch the leaves twirl down on to the sidewalk

As everything starts to die little by little

Melancholy vibes as down the sidewalk people walk

As Fall colors sink into everything little by little

This death is tragic and beautiful

Watching roses and other flowers wither

Watching leaves go to their funeral

Watching small birds go hither and dither

The harvest has come and the crops are ripe

Golden now baked under a golden sun

Fruits and vegetables of every type

And kids running through pumpkin patches with fun

A carpet of gold and orange and red

Underneath feet warm in thick fur boots

Now warmer covers are needed for bed

And you get fresh apples and fruit

Fall, the harvest and work of the people and farmers

Fall, the last spark of Summer that refuses to die

Fall, the beginning of Summer's departure

Fall, the end of the beginning of a cold Winter sky
