Frank gets out of the car and knocks on his adoptive aunt's door.

<<Frank!>>, Beverly Delfino says, opening the door.

She tries to hug him, but he steps back.

<<What's wrong?>>

He doesn't answer.

There's tension.

<<Your folks know you're here?>>

There's a moment of silence.

<<Are you talking about Hannah and Sam?>>

Bev is shocked.

August 20, 2017

Memphis, Tennessee

10:04 AM

Annalise is at the grocery store with Celestine.

Her phone rings.

<<Annalise, this is Soraya Hargrove.>>

<<Who gave you my new number?>>

<<Tegan Price. Please—don't blame her, Annalise. I begged her to give it to me.>>

<<Good to know.>>, Annalise replies sarcastically.

<<So—I've never been to Tennessee before. Is Memphis nice?>>

<<If you want to die of boredom, yes. It is nice.>>

Soraya laughs.

<<Sorayayou called me because>>

<<Oh, right. Sorry Annalise. My bad. Uhm—Annalise, I—>>

<<Why do you keep repeating my name?>>

Soraya sighs.

Annalise is confused.

<<It isn't easy for me to inform you about this, Annalise. Well—it's not necessarily a bad thing after all.>>

<<Right now, I'm up for anything.>>

<<The Board would like to know if you're going back to work at some point later this year.>>

<<I'm not.>>

<<Why?>>

<<Because I don't want to. Besides, I'm still taking my days off. They're many.>>

<<As many as your new law class, Annalise?>>

<<New class?>>, Annalise says, puzzled.

There's a moment of silence.

<<Annalise, the Board is willing to choose you as full professor of Criminal Law next semester.>>

Annalise is surprised and doesn't answer.

<<I know. I was surprised too. I pushed hard for the Legal Clinic last year. I think we have got off to a good start.>>

<<I—never really thanked you for that, Soraya.>>

<<Don't say. You don't have to. You did an excellent job with the Class Action. Students still ask me about it this day.>>

<<One thing for sure is that I'm not in their ''favourite professor list'', though.>>

<<What? You're one of the bests, to be honest. And I know that you know it.>>

Annalise nods. She appreciates Soraya's support.

<<So—if I were to take it, what would happen to the Legal Clinic?>>

<<Actually—that's the bad part, Annalise.>>

<<Why?>>

There's a moment of silence.

<<If you're willing to take the Criminal Law class, the Legal Clinic would be cancelled. Caplan & Gold would no longer be the law firm associated with Middleton, sadly. Unless Tegan is willing to work with another professor of our school.>>

<<So you called her first to see if she accepted your offer, huh?>>

<<No, Annalise. That's not what it's all about.>>

<<You're lying.>>

<<I'm not, Annalise.>>, Soraya gasps.

<<What are you trying to say, then? What's the point of you calling me?>>

<<I'm calling you to know if you're going back to teach Criminal Law, Annalise. The Board must be informed about it so they can figure things out.>>

Annalise doesn't answer. She's suspicious about the offer.

<<Look, Annalise—I'm not trying to pick up a fight with you on the phone. Just take a few days to think about it, okay?>>

<<I don't need to think about it.>>

<<Why is everything always complicated with you, Annalise?>>

Annalise grunts.

There's a moment of silence.

<<How long I can think about it?>>

<<Next week.>>

Annalise hangs up.

<<Hello? Annalise?>>

<<Who were you talking on the phone?>>, Celestine asks, coming from behind.

<<Momma. She asked for chocolate cookies.>>

<<And then she complains about her big old ass!>>

Both laugh.

Coming out of the grocery store, Annalise hears several camera shutter sounds. She looks around, but sees anything unusual.

<<Is everything okay?>>, Celestine asks.

<<I—thought somebody was calling my name.>>

Celestine doesn't believe her, but pretends everything is fine.

She starts the car as Annalise looks out the car window and the two head back home.

Frank and Bev are sitting in the kitchen.

<<You want some wine?>>, she asks.

<<No.>>

Frank sighs.

<<You're here to ask for money, don't you? Your father told me work is not good lately—>>

<<Why did you never tell me about Hannah and Sam before?>>, Frank interrupts.

There's tension.

Bev sighs and then asks: <<How did you find out?>>

<<DNA test.>>

Bev takes a pack of cigarettes out of her pocket, but does not have a lighter. She gets up from the chair as Frank follows her with his eyes. She opens the upper cabinet next to the sink and takes out a little lighter.

She sits down again and lights a cigarette.

<<I think you should talk to Hannah, Frank.>>

<<She won't tell me the truth.>>

<<Why not?>>

<<I want you to tell me the truth.>>. Frank says.

Bev is confused. She doesn't know Hannah died.

<<What do you want to know?>>

Frank sighs and says: <<Let's start at the beginning, shall we?>>

Hannah and Sam are eating breakfast in the kitchen.

He is 16 and she is 18.

<<When are mom and dad coming back from their trip?>>, Sam asks.

<<I hope never again.>>, Hannah chuckles.

<<Is Melbourne that far away?>>

<<Do you even know where Australia is, Sam?>>

<<Of course, I do. Do you know?>>

Hannah mocks him as she sticks her tongue out.

Sam throws cereals at her.

Both laugh.

There's a moment of silence.

<<Are you walking with me to school this morning?>>, Hannah asks.

<<No, I'm walking with Jeff. We're studying together at his place after school.>>

<<Reading porn mags from under the bed doesn't sound like studying to me, Sam.>>

<<You want to join?>>

<<Ew. I have better things to do, thank you.>>

<<Like sleeping with Michael?>>

Sam chuckles.

<<Are you jealous?>>

Sam gives a hint of a smile.

All of a sudden, Hannah feels nauseous.

<<What's wrong?>>, Sam asks.

Hannah puts one hand on her belly.

<<I—think I might have a stomach ache.>>

Hannah gets up quickly, runs to the bathroom and pukes.

That's twice in two weeks it has happened.

<<Do I have to call the doctor, Han?>>

<<No.>>, Hannah says as she cleans her mouth.

<<I can stay home with you. You need my help.>>

<<No, Sam. I'm fine. Leave.>>

<<But you don't look good—>>

<<I told you I'm fine, Sam!>>, Hannah interrupts, raising her voice.

Sam is confused.

<<Don't worry. I'm okay. Go to school.>>

There's a moment of silence.

<<If you say so.>>, Sam replies.

Hannah keeps throwing up.

Sam takes his backpack and leaves the house.

Hannah is still in the bathroom.

She will skip school and call the family doctor.

<<The doctor ordered to take a urine test.>>, Bev reveals, <<She told me her period was late. I think—Hannah knew she was pregnant. She must have asked the doctor not to say anything to her family.>>

Frank is listening to her, carefully.

<<After a couple of weeks, the doctor got her test results back. I remember seeing Hannah every now and then during that time.>>

Bev turns her head towards the window and recalls.

September 25, 1979

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

5:30 PM

Hannah is at Bev's house.

She is shaken, but tries to hide it.

<<Hannah!>>, Bev's mother says, opening the door.

<<Hello, Ms. Delfino. Is Bev at home?>>

<<Yes, she's taking pictures in the yard for your school project. Are you joining her?>>

<<Yes, thanks.>>

<<Come on in.>>

Hannah gets into the house.

<<How are your parents, Hannah?>>

<<Uhm—>>, Hannah pauses for a second, <<They—they're still in Melbourne. They'll be back in a few days.>>

<<Oh. Well, give them my love, okay?>>

<<Absolutely.>>

Her hands are shaking.

There's a moment of silence.

<<How is Sam?>>

<<Good—I should go, Ms. Delfino. Bev's waiting for me. Thank you.>>

<<O-okay, Hannah. Have fun!>>

Hannah heads for the yard.

Bev's mother thinks something was wrong with her, but she pretends everything is fine.

<<Bev!>>, Hannah yells.

<<Hey! What are you doing here?>>

Hannah bursts into tears as she runs into Bev's arms.

<<Hey, what's going on?! Hannah?!>>

Hannah holds Bev tight.

<<Why are you crying, Hannah?! Speak to me! What happened?>>

June 29, 2017

Haddonfield, New Jersey

Bev snuffles.

<<I think you should go, Frank. I'm not feeling very well.>>

<<I'm not leaving here until you tell me what Hannah did.>>

The tension rises.

<<Does Hannah know you're here?>>

<<No.>>

<<I'm calling her to let her know you're here.>>

While Bev gets up from the chair, Frank pulls out a gun and points it at her.

<<Frank, what you're doing?!>>

<<Hannah won't answer you. Sit down.>>

Bev is scared.

Philadelphia Prison, Pennsylvania

1:45 PM

Connor is sitting in the prison canteen with George Smith.

<<Wow—it tastes great, brother! Damn, hospital food wasn't that good! I feel like crying right now.>>

Connor turns to him, intrigued.

<<You know, I've been locked up in Orlando before coming in here, brother. Alcohol intoxication. I feel sick thinking about it.>>

<<Florida?>>, Connor asks.

<<Yup. I lived there for a while with my white girl.>>

George suddenly changes subject.

<<Who's Sam?>>

Connor drops his fork.

<<Last night, I heard you talking in your sleep. You were calling someone named Sam. Who is he?>>

Connor looks at him, frightened, and doesn't answer.

<<If you want to know me, I need to know you first, brother.>>

Connor comes to his senses and says: <<I don't know what you're talking about. I'm going back to the cell.>>

George doesn't believe him.

The two go back and sit on their beds in the cell.

<<It was the worst day of my life when I got arrested.>>, George says, all of a sudden.

Connor turns to him.

<<Late shift. I was working at Burger King. I sold drugs to a nigga who turns out to be a fucking undercover cop.>>

Connor is confused.

<<Anyway, Bowers told me he's reducing my sentence. I'm doing good in here, brother. It's been over two years.>>

Connor is suspicious that George isn't telling the truth, but pretends everything is fine.

<<Should I call you Sam?>>

Connor looks at him, bothered.

<<I'm George.>>, reaching his hand to make a hand shake with Connor.

There's a moment of silence.

<<Connor.>>, he murmurs.

<<You what?>>

<<I'm Connor.>>, he says a little louder.

<<Cool. I knew a dealer who called his pot ''Connie''. He's got a sister with big boobs, you know—>>

While George keeps blabbering, Connor lies on the bed, facing the wall.

He doesn't forget the promise he made to himself, which is to make Agent Landford and all the corrupted agents who disgraced the FBI pay for what they did before Annalise's trial.

<<Frank, put it down!>>

<<Sit. We're not finished yet.>>

Frank is nervous.

<<Please—I don't know what's going on, Frank. Don't do anything stupid.>>

There's a moment of silence.

<<You've destroyed my life!>>

Tears come streaming down Frank's face.

Bev cries too.

Frank snuffles and asks: <<What happened that afternoon?>>

<<Why are you crying, Hannah?! Speak to me! What happened?>>, Bev yells.

Hannah doesn't answer.

She keeps crying.

<<I'm calling Sam, Han—>>

<<Bev, no! Don't do it! Please! Stay here!>>

<<What's going on? You've been acting strange for weeks! Why are you crying?!>>

Hannah snuffles.

<<You can tell me, Han. What happened? I'm worrying about you.>>

<<I can't, Bev.>>

<<Why?>>

The tension rises.

<<If you're not going to spit it out, I swear I'm calling—>>

<<I'm pregnant.>>, Hannah reveals.

Bev is shocked.

There's a moment of silence.

<<Bev, say something.>>

Bev doesn't say a word.

<<Bev, speak.>>

Hannah snuffles.

<<Bev—>>

<<What—does Michael know?>>

<<No. No, he doesn't.>>

<<Are you going to tell him, right?>>

<<No.>>

<<Why?>>

Hannah doesn't answer.

<<When did you find out? Is this why you were acting strange?>>

<<Doctor gave me the results today. I'm two months pregnant.>>

<<You went to the doctor by yourself?!>>

Bev taps her on the shoulder.

<<I don't want to have this baby, Bev.>>, Hannah reveals.

<<Don't you dare have an abortion, Hannah!>>

Bev is catholic.

<<It's senior year, Bev. We're going to college. I can't—>>

<<Hannah, you can't just get an abortion at a clinic without talking to your parents, first. It doesn't work like that!>>

<<I know a doctor in New York, Bev. She helps girls like me in these situations. You're coming with me?>>

<<Are you crazy?! I can't go to New York with you! What do I tell my family?>>

<<Lie to them.>>

<<What—Hannah, you have no idea how much getting an abortion costs.>>

<<Money's the last thing on my mind, Bev.>>

Bev is nervous.

<<Tell your parents that we're going to Michael's summer house.>>

<<My father knows Michael's family, Hannah!>>

<<We can work something out. Please, Bev. Don't make me go alone!>>

Hannah wipes her tears.

Bev tries to talk some sense into her.

<<Listen to me, Hannah. Your parents are not like mine. They'll find out. I can't lie to them.>>

Hannah is upset.

There's a moment of silence.

Bev is thinking. She may have an idea.

<<What's wrong, Bev?>>

There's tension.

<<Just hear me out, Hannah. We can do something.>>

<<What are you talking about?>>

<<We can get him adopted.>>, Bev claims.

<<No! I said I don't want to have the baby—>>

<< There might be needy families in town, Hannah.>>

<<Bev, are you listening to me? No one needs to know about this pregnancy! Ever!>>

<<Why don't you talk to Michael, then? It's his child too, Hannah.>>

Hannah doesn't answer and looks at Bev's home windows.

The tension rises.

<<Let me stay in your guest room for a few months, Bev.>>

<<What?! My parents weren't born yesterday, Hannah! Your belly is going to grow—>>

<<Bev, my family is going to tell me that I'm a slut and throw me out of the house!>>

<<Go talk to Michael, Hannah.>>

<<I told you Michael doesn't have to know.>>

<<But he's going to see your belly in a few months, Hannah!>>

<<I'm going to break up with him tonight. He won't find out.>>

<<I think you're crazy. Let's go inside and talk to my mother.>>

<<Bev, you're not listening to me—>>

Bev gives her a slap.

Hannah is upset.

<<I'm not going to lock you in my house for nine months, Hannah! Is that clear?>>, Bev says, raising her voice.

There's a moment of silence.

Hannah has an idea.

<<Then——let me stay in the tree house.>>

Bev snorts.

<<What?>>

<<Think, Bev. No one will ever find me in there. I'm going to tell my family that I'm crashing at your place for some months. They won't ask around. I promise.>>

<<You're out of your mind, Hannah.>>

Hannah grabs Bev's arm and holds it tight.

<<You're my best friend, Bev. I've never asked for anything in return. Now—I'm asking you for help. Do you really want me to take a knife and stabbed myself in the belly?>>

Bev is shocked and worried.

<<All right. Well, on one condition.>>

<<What is it?>>

<<When your belly shows, I'll take care of you and the baby.>>

Meanwhile, Bev's mother saw the whole scene from the kitchen window.

Later, Bev is having dinner with her mother.

<<How is Hannah?>>

<<Fine.>>

<<Is everything okay, Bev?>>

<<Yes. Why are you asking?>>

Bev doesn't want her mother to suspect anything, but she's already suspicious.

<<Just asking. You seem upset.>>

<<No, it's just that—>>

<<What?>>

There's a moment of silence.

<<Hannah had a fight with her parents. They overreacted and things got out of hand.>>

<<She told me they're in Melbourne.>>

Bev is embarrassed.

<<She had a fight with her boyfriend, Mom. Okay? I'm taking a shower.>>

Bev gets up quickly and goes upstairs.

Her mother suspects something is going on between Hannah and her daughter, but she pretends everything is fine.

June 29, 2017

Haddonfield, New Jersey

<<Who was Michael?>>, Frank asks.

<<Hannah's boyfriend from high school.>>, Bev reveals.

<<Did he know about me?>>

<<Hannah broke up with him the day she told me about you.>>, Bev says, <<She told Michael that she no longer loved him.>>

<<He believed her?>>

<<No. He suspected that she was having an affair with someone else.>>

Frank is confused.

<<What's the tree house? What was she talking about?>>

<<My father built one for me and my brother when we were young. I used to hang out there with Hannah. It wasn't far from my place.>>

<<Are you really saying that Hannah spent months in there?>>

<<Yes.>>, Bev reveals, <<I used to sneak out of the house when my parents were at work. I fed her. Stayed with her all night. I have never left her alone. I was thinking about you. And I remember—>>

Bev breaks down and cries.

Frank is upset.

Bev snuffles.

<<What—what you and Hannah did was atrocious. Do you know that? It's embarrassing for me to sit here and hear you speak about it.>>

Bev gets serious. Her facial expression suddenly changes.

<<And you? You almost killed my brother, Frank. Don't you forget that.>>

<<Shut up. You lied to me all my life.>>

<<What do you want from me, Frank?!>>, Bev yells, <<What do you want me to say?! That Hannah didn't want you?! Yes, she didn't!>>

<<Shut up!>>, Frank yells.

<<You're alive because I wanted you to live! Don't you dare tell me I didn't do anything for you!>>

Frank fires a shot, breaking a glass.

Bev jumps.

Sam is in the school hallway and sees Bev from distance.

He approaches her.

<<Beverly!>>

<<Sam, hi.>>

<<I need to talk to you about Hannah.>>

Bev pretends to be confused.

<<What's wrong?>>

<<I met Michael at the bar last night. He told me Hannah broke up with him two weeks ago. Did she tell you that?>>

<<Yes, she did. Things were not so great between them.>>

<<He doesn't say the same thing.>>

Bev shrugs her shoulders pretending she doesn't know the truth.

<<I haven't seen her around since she crashed at your place. She asked me not to visit her. Is she okay?>>, Sam asks.

<<She just wants to be left alone for a while, Sam. She'll get over it. Don't worry.>>

Sam thinks Bev is lying to him.

<<I should go.>>

Bev leaves as Sam looks at her suspiciously.

Later, Sam will talk to his mother at dinner.

<<Mom?>>

<<Yes, Sam.>>

<<Did Hannah tell you why she is at Beverly's?>>

<<Why do you ask?>>

<<Nothing. I would like to know why.>>, Sam replies.

<<Hannah told me Beverly is going through a bad time. She's helping her.>>

Sam doesn't say a word.

<<Don't worry about your sister. She's an adult.>>

<<You're not worried about her?>>

<<No, I'm not. Besides, she must realise what this could mean.>>

<<Maybe we should talk to her—>>

<<You don't have to do anything, Sam.>>, Lorraine Keating interrupts, <<Does your sister want to waste her time? Fine. She's doing it out of our house. You should worry about studying. Your father and I, we have no time for this.>>

<<Because travelling around the world is more important, huh?>>

<<Sam!>>, Samuel Keating interrupts, <<Come here, son.>>

Sam sighs and gets up from the chair.

<<Yes, Dad?>>

<<Apologize to your mother.>>

Sam is confused.

<<What did I say—>>

Samuel slaps him.

There's a moment of silence.

<<Don't you dare talk to your family like this never again, is that clear?>>

Sam is upset.

There's tension.

<<We're taking care of your sister. Now, go finish your dinner.>>

Sam nods and goes finishing his meal.

<<Sam!>>, Bev's mother says, opening the door.

<<Hi, Ms. Delfino.>>

<<How are you?>>

<<I'm okay, thanks. —Is Hannah here?>>

<<No, why?>>

Sam realizes that Bev lied to him.

<<So—you haven't seen her around?>>

<<Well——Beverly usually spends time with her at your house. You don't see them?>>

Sam doesn't respond.

<<I should go, Ms. Delfino. Thanks.>>

Sam leaves and Ms. Delfino closes the door.

She's confused.

<<Who was at the door, Mom?>>, Bev asks from upstairs.

<<They got the wrong house, darling.>>

<<Okay.>>

<<Bev?>>

<<Yes?>>

Ms. Delfino would like to ask her about Hannah, but she prefers not to say anything.

<<We—we are out of milk. Would you go to the grocery store later?>>

<<Yes, sure.>>

On her way back from the grocery store, Bev heads for the tree house. She bought food and drinks for Hannah.

Sam was spying on her since she left and now he's following her in a small woods nearby.

<<What are you talking about?!>>

<<I cut the umbilical cord with a pair of scissors.>>

Bev snuffles.

<<She asked me to take you away. I left you in front of my house's door.>>

Frank bursts into tears.

<<My mother found you at the door, heard you crying. You were in a blanket, soaking in blood. She wanted to call the police. When I came home in the morning, I pretended I've never seen you before. I told her I was at Hannah's. Your parents decided to adopt you.>>

March 2, 1980

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

1:23 AM

Bev goes back to the tree house after leaving Frank at the front door of her house.

<<Hannah, I left him at my house! He is safe—>>

Bev realizes that no one is there.

<<Hannah? Hannah!>>, Bev yells.

June 29, 2017

Haddonfield, New Jersey

<<I don't know where Hannah went that night. I don't know what happened. I spent the night there. Two days later I saw Hannah at school. She hugged me and pretended nothing had ever happened. She asked me not to talk about you never again.>>

Frank looks down at the floor.

<<Sam threatened me later.>>, Bev reveals.

April 4, 1980

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

3:56 PM

Bev is getting books out of her locker.

Sam suddenly appears from behind.

<<Sam! You scared me!>>

<<Have you told anyone?>>

<<Wh—what?>>

<<Have you told anybody?>>, Sam murmurs.

Bev realizes he's talking about the baby.

<<Why are you asking me that?>>

<<Hannah wants to see him. Change her mind.>>, Sam says, nervous.

<<You don't have to decide for her.>>

Sam grabs her arm and pushes her against the locker.

<<Don't make me talk to your mother. She wouldn't be happy for you.>>

Bev is terrified.

<<You want me to talk to the police?>>

<<Sam, get your hands off me!>>

<<Swear to me you'll change her fucking mind!>>

<<If you don't leave, I'll start screaming. Get off!>>

Sam lets her go.

<<Hannah was right about you. You're a monster.>>

Sam doesn't answer.

Bev leaves.

29 June 2017

<<That was the last time I spoke to him. Hannah never knew. She graduated and she moved here in New Jersey for a while. She called me occasionally. She once told me Sam met a girl in Chicago and that they got married.>>

<<You're lying.>>, Franks says.

Bev shakes her head.

<<You really expect me to buy this? A tree house? Bullshit.>>

<<Samuel and Lorraine were never home, Frank. Our friends never cared about her. They said she was boring. She even begged the doctor to stay quiet about the pregnancy.>>

There's a moment of silence.

<<I lied for her so many times that I doubted my own sanity, Frank.>>

<<You asked Hannah to get me out of prison, didn't you?>>

<<Yes.>>

<<Why?>>

<<My brother once broke down in front of everyone at dinner. It was summer. He felt guilty about what happened to you. He thought it was his fault. I didn't agree with him of course, but I couldn't stand to see him in pain. Your mother begged me to phone Hannah after a few days.>>

<<I've booked at Hemingway's. Is that okay for you, Han?>>

Hannah is staring into space, in front of the mirror.

<<Hannah? Hannah!>>

Hannah turns to him.

<<Is everything okay?>>, Sam asks.

<<Sorry, I was distracted. I'm fine with whatever.>>

Sam hugs her from behind.

<<What's wrong? You look pensive since this morning.>>

There's a moment of silence.

<<Sam?>>

<<Yes?>>

Hannah looks at him in the reflection and says: <<Beverly Delfino called me this morning.>>

Sam is confused at first.

<<Beverly? Who's Beverly?>>

<<My best friend from high school. Beverly Delfino.>>

Sam steps away from Hannah.

<<Why did she call you?>>

<<Frank is in jail.>>

Sam doesn't answer.

<<He almost killed his father. Did you know?>>

<<No, I don't. What does she want from you?>>

<<She asked me—she asked me for help, Sam.>>

<<Help about what?>>

<<Frank.>>

Sam gets nervous.

<<No. If he did what he did, he deserves to be in there.>>

<<He was 13, Sam!>>

<<I said no.>>

There's a moment of silence.

Hannah looks in the mirror and says: <<Bev asked me to find him a lawyer. I thought about Annalise.>>

<<Are you trying to start a fight?>>, Sam asks.

Hannah pounds her fist on the table.

<<Don't you feel guilty about what we did to him?!>>, Hannah yells.

The tension rises.

<<Every time I bring it up—I feel like you're ready to put a bullet in my head!>>, Hannah yells.

<<Enough. I'm leaving.>>, Sam says, bothered.

<<Why are you acting like this, Sam? We can help him!>>

<<He's not my son, Hannah!>>

<<He is our son!>>

There's a moment of silence.

<<I wish that I could go back in time, Sam.>>

Sam grunts.

<<But we can't. So, please—>>

<<I'm canceling dinner. I'm going home.>>

Sam walks out of the room.

<<Sam, come back here! Sam!>>, Hannah yells.

<<Sam did not want you.>>

Bev wipes her tears.

<<I really don't know how Hannah convinced him—>>

<<Stop talking.>>, Frank interrupts.

Bev looks at him, confused.

Frank gets up, takes the gun and puts it back in his pocket.

<<Next time a man points a gun at your face—make sure it's really loaded.>>

Bev sighs and snuffles.

Frank is broken.

He leaves Beverly Delfino's house and gets in the car.

He's spending the night at a motel in Haddonfield.

The following morning he's visiting Sam Junior's grave at the Philadelphia Cemetery.

Frank will die several hours later outside the Philadelphia Courthouse.

Annalise is packing in her room.

<<Are you leaving?>>, Ophelia asks.

Annalise turns to her.

<<How long you been at the door?>>

<<You've gotten the wrong pants. They're Celestine's.>>

Annalise sighs and takes them out of the suitcase.

They both sit on the bed.

Ophelia takes her hand.

<<You said you didn't want to come back, Anna Mae.>>

Annalise doesn't answer.

<<You're coming back for Tegan, aren't you?>>

<<No, Momma. It's not about her.>>

<<Tell your mama the truth.>>

Annalise grunts.

<<I—need to take care of a few thing. The Board called me. They want me to go back to teaching.>>

<<Do you want to?>>

<<I don't know what I want from my life anymore, Momma.>>

There's a moment of silence.

<<Every day we choose a path to take, Anna Mae.>>, Ophelia says, <<The only sure thing we know is that we're still alive. And we are.>>

Annalise gets emotional.

<<Listen to your mama——I'm proud of who you are, baby girl. I'm proud of your strength and bravery. You have lost some battles in your life. Yes, it is true. But remember—you can always start over. Whenever you want to. Don't forget to put yourself first every chance you get. If you do so—I will always be here with you, Anna Mae. Even when I'm gone.>>

<<Momma.>>

Annalise cries.

<<Don't cry, Anna Mae. Don't cry.>>

The two hug each other.

<<You'll go back to teaching one day, Anna Mae. You'll teach your students what being strong means. You'll go back in court and show once again those bastards who you really are. And they will pay, Anna Mae. They will pay for good.>>

Ophelia's loving embrace reassures Annalise.

She doesn't want her to leave.

Detectives Duvall and Morgan discuss the body found in the apartment.

<<We need to wait for the DNA results.>>

<<The decomposition process is making things difficult.>>

<<What about the missing head?>>, Morgan asks.

<<No trace. The forensics is still working on it.>>

Duvall is worried.

<<What's on your mind, Detective?>>, Morgan asks.

<<The laptop found next to the body. The battery was fully charged. Someone must have left it there on purpose to make it look like a suicide.>>

<<So they knew we were coming, otherwise the laptop would shut down.>>

<<Yes. They definitely had the keys to the apartment.>>

Detective Morgan ponders over it.

<<Did the tech team trace the owner of the laptop?>>

<<They're dealing with it. We're almost there.>>

Detective Morgan picks up the photos taken at the crime scene, especially the one taken at the laptop.

<<Why writing in blood on the screen?>>

<<We might not want to rule out satanic cults, Detective.>>, Duvall says.

<<I don't think it's about that. It seems more like a warning.>>

<<Sorry Detective, what's the name written in blood again?>>

<<Annalise.>>, Morgan reveals.
