Olivia P.O.V.

My alarm clock wakes me up in the morning. I stretch and turn it off as I go to the bathroom to get ready for school.

Once I finally got to school it takes me some wandering around to find the principal's office. I got my books and my schedule and walked into my first class. I know it's already been a month or so since school started, but I moved I have an excuse to be late. Not that it matters, I'm just making everyone notice me.

Someone might say that it's interesting to move and attending a new school. To start over and all that, but I don't. I mostly have a tough time making new friends, and because of my past that I am trying so hard to put behind me, I think I will find it hard even talking to someone.

At my new class, I introduce myself as Olivia, and that from today on I will be in this class. I got seated in the back beside a boy. He doesn't say anything to me, neither look my way. When I think about it, that may be a good thing. But he seems somewhat familiar to me.

He is wearing some black boots with black loose pants, with straps and pockets everywhere. That reminds me of a hero in a fiction movie. Like the black military pants kind of vibe. He wears a white V-neck t-shirt with a leather jacket. His hair is chocolate-deep brown, but I cannot seem to see his face. It is buried in a book, and it is not even a schoolbook. It's? I don't even know it looks like a fantasy book.

When the class is over, I get up to leave when the boy sitting next to me grabs me by my wrist. His eyes meet with mine and that's when I realize. It's the boy from the woods. "Oh, it's you again," I say trying to sound disappointed, but I can hear that it didn't get through. It was more mixed with curiosity. He seems to remember me as well by the look on his face. He lets go of my hand and stands up in front of me. When we are standing so close, I realize that he is a head taller than me. I look up at him expecting some kind of greeting or at least a name.

"What is it?" I try again to snap him out of his thoughts. I don't want to admit it, but he is attractive and hot, to say the least. However, I don't want him to know I think that highly about him, his ego seems high enough.

"Mateo, I guess we'll be seeing you in class." He walks past me before I even get to wrap my head around what he just said. When he walked past me the smell of men's perfume hit my nose. It smelled good though. His words were cold. Scratch what I said, I thought he seemed okay before, but now? I realize I was wrong. He is cold-hearted. He doesn't even act the same way as he did in the woods yesterday.

It felt like the room was falling a couple of degrees too. I cross my arms and walk out of the classroom. There is something about him that makes my skin grow cold. It's getting on my nerves.

When it's finally time for lunch I sit down at a table by myself. I don't know anyone besides Mateo, and I don't want to be with him. Even if it's as simple as eating together. I don't even know where he is so it's out of the question anyway. Two girls walk straight towards me and sit down beside me. One on each side of me. The one to the right is blond with blue eyes, and the one on the left has brown hair and dark eyes. They look like yin and yang. Completely opposites of each other.

"Hi, my name is Mia," she says and points at herself. "And this is Sophie." She points at her dark-haired friend on the other side of me. "How is your first day going so far?" At least she is nice enough to talk to the new girl. At least I didn't have to take responsibility for the conversation. She seems nice too. I think before turning to think about her question.

"It's been good so far." I try to sound enthusiastic, and by the looks of it she got my enthusiasm and joined in on it. She smiles at me, and I smile back. I have decided that I want to start over, or I will at least try. I mean how bad could it get? You know what I am just not going to answer that because then my mind will start all these scenarios on how this could go so wrong. I overthink a lot these days.

"Well, it's good that you like it here. Just let me know if there is anything, we can do to help you." Sophie's voice reminds me of those pretty kind girls in movies. Always so full of life and enthusiasm. Friends with everyone and kind to the bottom of their hearts. We eat up and go to our next class. The school day goes on quite calm and fast, and before I know it, I'm back home again.

My mom and dad are still at work by the time I get home. Since we now live in a new city, they also have new jobs, so they need to give a good first impression these first weeks. I don't care anyway. I'm not one of those teenagers who depend on their parents all the time. After my sister died I kind of learned to take care of myself. My dad took care of my mom, and they had enough with each other. I warm up some pizza from yesterday and go up to my room. I turn my computer on and bring up my books.

I have a lot of homework to catch up on, but lucky for me I have already gone through most of it. I call Ruby on facetime and start doing my homework.

"How was the first day at school?" I look up from my books and look at her through the screen. She looks excited and I give her the look. The look to tell her to calm down, that nothing too exciting happened.

"Wow, give me all the juicy details." She smiles at me, and I can't help but laugh at her. Dammit, I didn't succeed.

"There was not that much happening. Got two and a half friend sorts of." I stop myself. Did I call Mateo a friend, nah, whatever, does it matter that much anyway? I mean I know his name at least, and he has taken the initiative to talk to me.

"Two girls that I think I'm going to be with a lot. They seem genuinely nice at least. Sophie and Mia. The funny thing about them is that they are total opposites of each other. But only on the looks. They're both equally nice so that's good. The last one is a boy that sits beside me in class. I also met him in the woods yesterday when I was out running. He gives me a cold vibe though, but not all the time. In the woods it was different, I don't know. His name is Mateo, and he has this cool eye thing thought."

I stop talking, smiling at the thought of it. Have I mentioned that I love when a boy had dark hair and bright blue eyes? No? And even more when the eyes have assorted colors. Like omg, I can't stop thinking about it now.

"Hello? Continue please?" Ruby draws me out of my world. Her face says it all. She is beyond excited, knowing her I think she is wondering if I should get together with this guy or not. Ruby is the romantic one, she loves to talk about boys and all that.

"Yeah sorry, like he has one brown and one blue eye. It's pretty. The blue one is deep blue, like the ocean, I could get lost. The other one is so deep brown I wonder if it's black." I smile at her, and I can see the glimpse in her eye. Here it comes.

"I want to hear more about this mystery boy. I think someone has a little crush." She smiles at me. Dammit. I wouldn't call it that.

"Sorry, there is no more to tell you about him. I don't know anything more about him. He doesn't seem to talk much so I'll just ask Mia about it tomorrow. However, he is very good-looking, I would be surprised if he didn't already have a girlfriend though. Oh, and for your information, I do not have a crush, he looks good, but he is cold. Like I got chills, and the room got cold when he spoke to me. There is something weird I promise you. He is far beyond normal if you ask me."

"Okay, but to be attractive in your eyes is rare so maybe that what's gotten you all over the place?" she smiles at me before continuing. "Text me how it goes. I need to go. We were invited to this party today and I want to go. It's the new girl, okay? She needs some friends, and you know how the rest of the school treated her?" I nod. Wait, did she just say we? "Hey, Ruby? We?"

"Oh, yeah me and Emily, bye." She hangs up before I get to say something. I put on some music and work on my homework. When my dad comes home, he walks up to my room. Old habit, I guess. "Dinner in half an hour." I can tell that he is worried about me. His voice says it all. I speak before he closes the door behind him.

"I've already eaten." He seems a little sad but nods and walks out, closing the door behind him. I need space to move on. I keep on working on my homework when my mom gets home. I don't want to talk to her right now. She probably wants to know all about how my first day was, and I don't want her to pry in my life. I'm not ten years old anymore.

She always tries so hard to make me think of something else, but that only makes me think of it more. I would just like to be left alone. At least my dad had gotten the hint. I open my window and climb out onto the roof. I hope my mom doesn't see me now, she would be really mad.

I look at the stars in the sky for a while. It's clear weather today. The moon is almost full a little over the horizon, the sun has already set a little while ago, but it's still bright. Even in summer times, it's getting dark soon. My window shows me the sunrise and moonrise. I enjoy it because I love the moon more than the sun. Don't get me wrong the sunset is beautiful and all that, however, the moon. The moon is magical. At least to me. It has always been anyway.

There are some lights in the city that are still on. This is a small town from what I was used to. It's quiet and peaceful thought, which is nice. The best at times like these is that I forget everything else. I forget all my memories of the past. I look down at the clock and realize that I've been here for way too long. My mom is coming to say goodnight soon. I manage to go to bed right before she walks into my room as I pretend to be asleep. I tend to do that a lot.
