December 13th- 12 days until Christmas

"Mr. Black!" Remus hissed, causing his friend to jump. The raven-haired boy who was previously dosing off on Remus' shoulder blinked his sleepy eyes a few times, taking in his surroundings. "Sleeping in class again are we?" Remus asked, his eyes shining with amusement.

"Remus Lupin, do you take me as someone to fall asleep in class?" Sirius asked, pretending to be shocked. The boys shared a laugh, Sirius always fell asleep in at least on class a day and everyone at Hogwarts knew it. "What is Flitwick on about?" he said.

"He's just assigned us an essay about spells to help with decorating for the holidays," Remus responded.

"What?! Doesn't he know that today's the last day before holiday?" Sirius cried, causing a few heads to turn in their direction.

"Shhh!" Remus whispered. "It's not like you're going to do any of it anyway."

"And that's because I know I can count on you to do it for me," Sirius said, sending his friend a wink. Before resting his head on Remus' shoulder and drifting back to sleep.

Remus tried to ignore the feeling off Sirius' head on his shoulder, but he felt a blush slowly creeping up his neck and spreading across his face. He had had a crush on his friend for years now, and was hoping that since they were all staying at Hogwarts for the holidays, something might happen between them.

Remus looked up from his essay and caught James smirking at him.

What? Remus mouthed.

James shifted his eyes to Sirius and then back before wiggling his eyebrows.

Remus just smiled and rolled his eyes before returning to his essay.

James  caught up with Remus and Sirius as they were leaving class. Together. Since James wasn't spending all his time chasing after Lily anymore now that they were in a proper relationship, he had started to notice his friends impossibly obvious crushes.

"Hey Siri," James said, nudging Sirius.

"Hey James!" Sirius exclaimed.

"Hey," Remus added.

James nodded a greeting to him. "Are you boys excited to have the school to ourselves?" he asked.

This led Sirius to start talking about everything he had planned for them during the next few weeks. James smiled to himself, it was nice to see Sirius this happy, especially around Christmas. Usually he was a bit mopey, as the holidays usually reminded him of the ones he used to spend with his family. James knew he loved coming over to his house, but seeing the Potters laughing together and being a proper family made the little hole deep down inside Sirius feel a bit more empty. James also noticed Remus smiling as he watched Sirius, which reminded James he had someone he needed to talk to-

"Sorry, Siri, I hate to interrupt you but I have to go find Lily," James said, running off. He knew Lily had a free period next and usually studied in the common room so that's where James went. Sure enough, Lily Evans was curled up on one of the red sofas in front of the blazing fire with her History of Magic book opened on her lap. She looked up when James entered through the portrait.

"Don't you have Herbology right now?" Lily asked, her brow furrowing.

"It's the last day before holiday I'm not missing anything important," James said, shrugging it off.

"Ok, well, what did you need?" Lily asked.

"How did you know I needed something?" James teased, sitting down on the sofa by her feet.

"James, you skipped class to find me,"  Lily said.

"So? Perhaps I wanted to snog before I had to go to Potions," James said, blowing Lily a kiss.

Lily just raised a perfectly shaped eyebrow.

"Ok fine, I did need to ask you something," James admitted. Lily grabbed a scrap parchment and put it between the pages she was on before closing the book. "It's about Remus and Sirius..."

"You noticed too!" Lily exclaimed sitting up. "Merlin, I was wondering when you would catch on! Painfully obvious isn't it?"

"Yes! How do they not see it, they can't seem to take their eyes off each other!" James groaned.

"So, what are you going to do?" Lily asked.

"What? I was hoping you would know!" James said.

"You're supposed to be good at this, James!" Lily joked.

"C'mon, just help me think of something!" James said.

"Alright, alright," Lily consented. The couple spent the rest of their free period plotting how to get Sirius and Remus together while the fire burned brightly, casting a warm glow over the room. Outside, snow had begun to fall, painting the rolling hills of the Scottish countryside white.

I'm going to write one chapter a day, leading up to Christmas. I'm still planning on writing my Draco story at the same time, so keep checking for updates on that! I hope you enjoy it:)
