I awoke with hands of shattered glass,
a broken promise you wouldn't hurt me,
and a heart that couldn't stop skipping.
I had told you I was more than fragile,
constructed with so many borrowed pieces,
yet you still asked to stay by my side.
You wound me up too tight
and now that you've let me go,
I don't play the same tune I used to.
I stared at those glass fragments
longer than I should have before
I realized where they came from.
You decimated my bubble,
forcing me to see the world reflected
off the sharp pieces glinting in the sunlight
as they fell from my bleeding hands.
