What if Icarus never died?
The boy plummeted straight down to the gleaming, hungry sea. The boy's father cried out in anguish. His soft body hit the water. It sunk below the surface of the cruel and relentless vast blue. His father wept but kept flying, there was no other option. The Nereids saw the boy sink into the sea. They often traversed the seas to help sailors face the fierce storms. They took pity on him, but they were too late to pull him to the surface. They encased him in a tightly woven net, making sure there was no water inside, then let him drift away. They hoped whoever found him would be able to help him escape Thanatos' gaze.
