"It's a pleasure to finally meet in person," I say with a smile, placing my hand out for her to take.

The shake is strong and she does the same with Violet. We sit in complete silence waiting for her to speak again.

I watch as she takes out a binder from her drawer and plops it onto her desk. It was thick and filled with hundreds of papers.

"You will begin with the files this agency has provided for you."

She senses the confusion painted on our faces, "I apologize for not indulging in small talk, as I am sure we will get to know each other further on."

I nod and pay attention to her directions.

"My team has collected information over the years which leads us to our suspicions. I put my trust and faith in you to expose this monster," she said giving Violet and me a blank stare as she slid the stuffed binder across the desk.

Ms. Kim doesn't break eye contact, "Our meeting will discuss the notes in the binder as well as the dates and strategies you will need to do."

She pauses, "I've been informed countless times of your work, Isabella. I not only chose you based on your experience but also for your amazing looks and attitude that will get a man like him so quickly to surrender."

I can't help but get red at the compliment, "I'm flattered."

It's silent and her stare becomes cold. "We depend on you. The others were too weak."

I had left the office approximately an hour ago and my head had been pounding since. It was barely past noon and I'd been drowning in files while also arguing with Valerie.

"Val, I understand we just moved but my job is on the line," I yell into the phone giving her a half-ass lie.

I was walking away from the couch when I heard the ding of the elevator from a distance, "We can talk when you're home,  I have to go," I said ending our call.

The blonde walks into the seating area with her head shaking, "how is she taking the news?"

"Not well."

"You genuinely think she would've believed the work emergency trip that's taking place across the world?"

"Of course not," I said throwing myself back onto the couch and shoving a pillow into my face trying my best not to scream.

I could do almost anything perfectly if you asked me but lying to my childhood best friend had to be my biggest weakness.

Violet sighs and takes a seat at the end of me. "There isn't much we can do."

"I know."

Sitting up, I collect the stack of papers on the coffee table. "I've barely finished a section. I still have over a dozen to get through."

Violet eyes the stack and her eyebrows crease when she focuses on the leader's portfolio. I could almost hear all the questions going on in her head.

Pointing at the man's face, "Don, Lorenzo Russo." I glide my finger to the next profile. "This is his younger brother, Sergio. He's known to be the underboss."

I turn and see the smirk on her face, "It's a pain that they're handsome, don't you think?"

"The challenge, I suppose."
