Minato Namikaze should have anticipated the outcome of the events from the moment she looked at her young student with other eyes. Any responsible adult could have warned him perfectly of the subject if they had suspected even a little, and the few who did have an idea mistakenly assumed that the promising Omega would be smart enough not to get carried away just by their instinct. The Third Hokage will always acknowledge his mistake there, of course, but it will not be he who will apologize for the unfortunate events. At the time, the Fourth Hokage had only one year to practice its new title. It was thanks to the intervention of the kind third party—same as even if he had good faith, he continued around him for fear that he would not be good enough—that the blond man could afford one other getaway along with his old team from time to time. Since the young members who learned from Konoha's Yellow Ray were as exceptional as their own teacher Sarutobi never put a but to stop him. Perhaps the only one really suspicious about it was the young omega's own wife. How to blame her? Even if there was no romantic bond to unsote them, he legally remained their partner. And with the proud character of Alpha he possessed, it was impossible not to fight him from time to time in the face of his usual absences.
Minato really understands what exactly failed there. It's been years since that moment, and he's had enough time to go over the scene in his mind so he can choose the right moment when he, as an adult, failed. Contrary to his present mettle, his old self was confident. The Hokage was sure that it would cope with the impending zeal that continued to threaten it—as it had with others—without the need to raise any unnecessary suspicion or concern. Only in those days was he allowed himself to leave his post altogether and left everything in the hands of the Third Party. Minato knew beforehand that this afternoon especially—the same one she would occupy to gather with her three cubs—she was more anxious than usual. He refused to cancel at the last minute because that would be give up. Only a few adults—mostly those who went to the Academy in the same generation—knew the secret that the Fourth Hokage so jealously kept. No one outside the walls of the village leader's compound knew the fact. Not even his closest ones out of town. And in that large number of people I kept lying to, there were them. Rin, Obito and Kakashi didn't know their secret. That was a mistake from the beginning. Namikaze remembers perfect the moment he entered the ramen post with a smile adorning his seemingly serene face. He didn't feel that calm at all, but he had an image to maintain. Neither the people knew it was Omega, nor could their students understand what that really meant. Not even if they were smarter for his age, or if he was younger than the rest.
That particular year, a few days after his number one student's 12th birthday, Minato was 22 years old. The difference between the two was 10 years. And even though you've already entered your forties, it wasn't too much trouble, this didn't erase the fact that what happened that afternoon was totally illegal. Although it's not like there were laws at the time that really regulated those kinds of accidents. Until that occasion there were no records on the subject. No Alpha under the age of 15 had ever marked anyone. But, thinking about it, both the blonde and her husband could recognize what made them so different from the rest. Kakashi Hatake was a precocious. He knew him being that way, and even the years beside him couldn't change it. It was tremendously easy to look at them for a moment to forget who was the eldest there. Minato entered the re-meeting point. He was quite surprised not to find any of the minors. Kakashi arrived a few minutes later apologising. First because of the delay, then because of the absence of the pair. So irritated it seemed at the time that Minato had no idea to leave him alone. "'Obito says he'll mark it when they're bigger. It's stupid. They're not even from the same caste. How could I do something like that?" And the problem there wasn't that the pair didn't show mutual interest. The thing is, Obito was an Omega, just like his teacher. Since Rin was a Beta, and Kakashi an Alpha, it's easy to understand the true source of the problem. Mature or not, instinct shone in the peli-silver in the face of minimal provocation. United or not, there was no Alpha who could resist the sense of possession. "Are you all right, sensei?"
