---------

None of us could've known what would happen that day or how it would affect our lives. Our secrets and memories, exposed for everyone to see.

The day started as normal. I woke up in the same shitty room I'd been staying in for the last few weeks since my host fucked me over. Apparently she finds privacy more important than freedom.
I had woken up before the stupid first announcement that would play from the speakers each day.
I got dressed, my stuff and made my way to the dining hall.

I was one of the first people to arrive. Most others only woke up when the speakers started blaring their message.
Our group's usual spot was still unoccupied. As usual even the dining hall reeked of chemicals and sterile plastic, a scent I did not like at all. I remember that it was worse than usual that day.
I sat down at the cheap table that looked more like prison furniture than something you'd find in a place like this. I listen to the chatter of the others who had already found a spot while I waited for Trust, Blueberry, Willow and Seb to arrive.

"It is now 8 am, time to wake up" came from the speakers. I had heard that shit so many times that I could hear it in my fucking sleep. Why couldn't they change it up every so often? It was getting quite annoying.

Eventually the chatter became louder and louder as more people flooded into the room. And then my buddies came to free me from my immense boredom.

Trust plopped down  next to me and swung an arm around me.
"Ello, howzitgoing?"
Truly, it was difficult to ignore someone like her.

"Well not that great, I'm tired as all hell, like usual. How about you?"
"I am great. The wound is healing well, barely hurts anymore. Turns out this body can take bullets better then my previous one!"

I giggled a little. It was hard to feel bad when she was around. I was always jealous of her hyper and positive personality.
I ran my hand through my hair as I turned to look at her.

(Wait, hair? I haven't had any hair since-)

"Do you have any plans for today?" I asked.
"No not really, and I also don't have any tests I have to do. So I'm free."
"Do you maybe want t-"
"Hi guys!!"

Oh, there came Blueberry. She sat down at my left side.

"What are you two talking about?"
"Oh...Nothing really..."

I sighed. Leave it to Blueberry to interrupt everything.

"Hey, Blue," Trust said "Did you cut your horns? They seem smaller."

Blueberry reached up and felt her horns, which had been reduced to little stumps instead of her usual tiny but noticeable antlers.

"How, yea, I think my host did. She doesn't like them. But I don't get why, they're so pretty!"

I got up "Hey, I'm going to get us some food. Keep my spot free okay?"

"Got it, get me my usual please!"
"Same for me."

"Yes yes got it."

I walked over to the line, grabbed some plates, and got to finding my friends' food.
Blueberry liked the fruit salad (which was understandable since it was the only food here that was actually meant to be cold), while Trust preferred an entire plate full of the  half cooked bacon the served in this shithole.
Personally I just got what seemed to be the most cooked, today that was the scrambled eggs.
So I filled my entire plate with the shit and got the stuff for the others too. Willow and Seb were too late, they'd have to go get their own food instead of exploiting my newfound kindness.

I managed to sprint back to our table before it got too busy, but to my surprise no one was there. Had they left while I was getting food? But why? That wouldn't make any sense.
Choosing not to pay attention to it, I sat down and placed their plates at their spots.

Then suddenly Trust was next to me again.

"Ello, howzitgoing?"
"Well not that great, I'm tired as hell, like usual. How about you?"
"I am great, the wound is healing-"
"Wait a second..."
"What is it?"
"We've had this conversation before.. And weren't you sitting right where you are now before I went to get the food?"
"of course not, I just woke up???"

In an attempt to make a hand signal about how crazy I was being; Trust knocked over her plate along with the stack of bacon carefully balanced on top.
A piece fell onto her blue hoodie, leaving an ugly grease stain.

(Her hoodie was purple, wasn't it?")

"Trust, something really weird is going on..."

Then the speakers began blaring again, but this time it wasn't an announcement I had heard before and it lacked the signature static that came with a pre-recorded message.

"We are  currently experiencing an anomaly that is causing time and universe as we know it to lose meaning. Stay calm and move in an orderly manner to your rooms. Avoid getting in contact with others or thinking about past events as this will most likely cause it to worsen. We hope this will drift over as soon as possible so that we can get on with our regular lives."

Wow, telling us not to think about memories, smart move. Literally no one would've done that if they didn't mention it.
Oh well, what's the worst that could happen.

I didn't get up from my spot yet. You see; An announcement that the universe is glitching causes people to panic, and thus everyone was pushing to get to their rooms, aka 'safety'. 'Orderly manner' my ass.
I wasn't about to get trampled to death by a bunch of scared idiots.

I turned to Trust. "Well, depending on how long this bullshit will last, I'll see you soon or later."
"Yup, try not to get trapped in a prison of your own traumatic memories." She joked, probably completely unware that I was trying to avoid thinking of those for that exact reason. Well at least I could blame her if anything happened now.
"Oh thanks, I'll try not to think of that now that it's been pointed out to me."

Finally the stampede of dumbasses passed allowing the people who had just waited to pass in peace.

I got up and waved goodbye to Trust, who had to take a different route to her room. I briefly noted the strange effect this thing was having on the surroundings. I could see the history of this place unfold before my eyes. The way it was built, the first few people who got into this dump, some kind of incident...And... Something that hadn't been mentioned in the flyers... Something yet to come...
A fire.
There was blood on the floor.
There was a gun on the floor.
And...Someone familiar.

before I could fully process what I had seen the building snapped back to normal. My room was just around the corner, I didn't have to worry about it, yet.

I walked in and almost immediately heard the door lock behind me. Truly, this was currently more of a cell then a regular room. But right now I didn't mind, it was for our safety.
I plopped my stuff down on the floor and took off my scarf, hanging it on a little hook I had installed earlier that week just for that one purpose.
Believe me, it was better to take it off before sleeping. It's annoying to clean 4 plus hours of unregulated blood out of the thing. Seriously, my host couldn't have picked out a colour like black instead of a bright green?

With a sigh I plopped down onto the bed. The mattress wasn't the best, but it was good enough for sleep, and that was all I needed, since I was planning to sleep through this disaster.

I could feel myself getting sleepy almost immediately. I relaxed before realizing something:
Too fast.
I was falling asleep too fast.
I recognized this feeling.
It was going too fast.
Anesthesia.
No no no no that isn't good.
They're trying to control me again.
I'm not safe. I'm too vulnerable.
Scarf, I needed my scarf. I needed to cover it up.

The world was spinning. I could barely lift my limbs enough to make a pathetic attempt at reaching the thing.
But it wasn't good enough.
I felt so tired. Felt so dizzy.

As the world began to fade in and out of existence I barely noticed the scenery change to an all too familiar location.
