"Kaitlyn something came in the mail for you," Aunt Amara said.
"Okay," Kaitlyn said, a tan girl with long, blonde hair and gleaming, blue eyes came down the stairs.
"I'm heading out for a bit. The letter is on the kitchen counter," Aunt Amara said, grabbing her purse and the keys from beside the door.
Kaitlyn walked down the hall toward the kitchen. When she arrived in the kitchen she walked toward the fridge and grabbed a water not thinking that the letter was anything special. After she grabbed the water she walked toward the counter where the cream-colored envelope sat. Kaitlyn grabbed the envelope and opened it and unfolded the piece of paper that was inside. The paper read:
Dear Kaitlyn Quinn,
We would like to invite you to come and audition for a scholarship and for a spot on our dance team, and a chance to attend our institution. If you would be interested, please contact us with one of the ways we have provided. We hope to hear from you soon. Auditions will be held on July 29th at 11 a.m. in our auditorium.
Harper Chambers
Principal of Listenmoore Boarding School.
Kaitlyn finished reading the letter and let out an excited scream. Kaitlyn automatically called her best friend, Willow.
Ring, ring, ring, "Hello," Willow said answering the phone.
"Willow, I just got a letter asking me to audition at Listenmoore Boarding School! There had to be scouts at our last competition," Kaitlyn said.
"No way! You got an audition at Listenmoore, you're so lucky!" Willow said.
"You did great at the last competition! Hopefully, you will get one too," Kaitlyn said.
"Maybe. Have you told your aunt yet?" Willow asked.
'No, she went out for a bit," Kaitlyn said.
"Ohh, okay. I know this has been your dream school for a long time, so I'm happy for you Kaitlyn," Willow said.
It has been, hopefully, you get an audition too. Well, I better go. I have a dance class in a bit," Kaitlyn said.
"Good luck," Willow said.
"Thanks, bye." Kaitlyn responded.
"Bye." Willow said in return.
Kaitlyn went upstairs to go get ready for her dance class, she didn't want to be late. Dance was Kaitlyn's first love. She had been dancing as long as she could remember, and Listenmoore Boarding School had been her dream school for as long as she could remember.
Kaitlyn's mom died when Kaitlyn was younger, and Kaitlyn went to live with her aunt after that. Both Kaitlyn's mother and aunt were great dancers. You may be wondering where
Kaitlyn's father is, well that's a good question. Kaitlyn has never met him. She has only heard little details about him, and she also knows that her mother never got over him.
Kaitlyn was thinking about her mom while getting ready. Kaitlyn always wanted to pursue a career in singing and dancing like her mother, but she never had the chance and Listenmoore could be her chance.
Kaitlyn finally got done getting ready when she heard her aunt come through the door.
"Kaitlyn, I'm back, are you ready for dance class?" She asked, shutting the door.
"Auntie, guess what the letter was about," Kaitlyn said running down the stairs.
"I was about to ask about that," She said with intensipation.
"It was an invitation to an audition at Listenmoore Board School," Kaitlyn said.
Aunt Amara's facial expression turned from anticipation to concern "Are you sure you want to go to that school?"
"Yes," Kaitlyn said.
"Don't make your mind up yet. We need to get going or we are going to be late for your dance class," Kaitlyn said.
"I thought you would be happy for me," Kaitlyn said.
"I just don't want you rushing into it, boarding school is a big thing," Aunt Amara said.
"Can't you just be happy for me?" Kaitlyn said.
"I am. We need to go or we will be late for dance." Aunt Amara.
Kaitlyn walked to the door, grabbed her bag, and headed to the car without saying a word. In the car ride to dance class, it was silence and on the way back.
Kaitlyn finally talked her aunt into letting her go to the audition, but her aunt still didn't want to let her go. Kaitlyn didn't know why her aunt didn't want her going. Kaitlyn didn't let her aunt not wanting her to go stop her from achieving her dreams, even though her aunt did eventually come around. Willow got an audition a couple of days after Kaitlyn did so they were both really excited to audition for their dream school.
