Part II.

Just One Last Dance
"You just left her?" Jaym asked, his arms crossed over his chest as he watched Ryf. The latter was sitting on the couch, nursing a glass of whiskey.
"What? Am I supposed to watch her like she is some helpless child?" Ryf raised his eyebrows, his tone bitter.
"She didn't share with him whatever she had told you," Nommi said. "How was he supposed to know that if she was left alone, she would just vanish?"
"I find it fascinating that he convinced her to join in on the dancing and drinking and then because he found out something that he didn't like, he just leaves," Jaym snapped.
"She is more powerful than all of us combined. The reason as to why null and void on this subject. I couldn't have known that creating space in a stressful situation would leave Mymi vulnerable," Ryf glared at him.
"It doesn't even matter," Nommi interrupted as Jaym opened his mouth to speak, "She probably conducted this herself."
Jaym watched the two warily as Ryf looked at her. This had been what he was afraid of, waiting for Nommi to voice her suspicions. She had no proof, no support behind her claims. But her intense dislike of Mymi would power her words. And with Ryf's feelings of betrayal, he would fall right into the trap. Jaym could do nothing as he watched Ryf nod in agreement, taking another sip of his whiskey, "She has more reason to than any in the Order."
"Why?" Jaym asked.
"Look what she is capable of doing to herself in order to climb the ranks. You really think she wouldn't begin to manipulate the missions in her favor? And with the Lord Master as her father, she would be able to know the key words and the rituals in order to make her vision a reality," Nommi explained.
"You really don't understand why she had to make those marks herself?" Jaym asked, his hands beginning to shake. "She had nowhere else to go, she was desperate to be accepted and to have a place. It was her home, and if she had been cast out, where would she go?"
"You grew up in the Order," Ryf pointed out, "You didn't do anything like that."
"My skin accepted the tattoo, hers didn't. I am also human, for me the ink hardly affects my system other than what it is supposed to do. It has been proven elves, including half elves, have a harder time when things such as tattoos, or even wearing a sigil, are placed upon them," Jaym explained.
Nommi's eyes narrowed, "Elf?"
"She has the features of an elf but she has rounded ears. I thought she was born in Halecen since many of them have them same face structure," Ryf said.
"She's half. Her rounded ears come from the human side, at least that was what was assumed. She was wrapped in Illicinian blankets when she was found," Jaym said.
"How do you know this?" Nommi asked.
"I grew up in the Order, just like you pointed out. Often times we were together as we were near the same age. A test was conducted on both of us, to try and find out about our heritage. While they couldn't pinpoint anything other than our race, it was enough to help us have some sort of identity," Jaym replied.
"If anything that gives her more of an excuse," Nommi raised her chin. "Elves are supremely greedy creatures."
Jaym bowed his head, "We have contacted the Order about Mymi's disappearance, and we will more than likely be summoned to be questioned by the Champions. They will determine if we search for Mymi as a friend or foe."
