World Turned Upside Down

Chapter 1

Newt wakes up from his nap around 12:30pm. He feels a weird pain in his stomach. "T-Thomas." He whimpers.

Thomas walks into the living room, he hair wet from just taking a shower. "What's up babe?" He asks.

"My stomach hurts." Newt whines quietly.

Thomas frowns and sits on the couch next to him. "You've been getting stomach cramps for a couple hours now babe and they haven't gone away. I think it's time we go to the hospital. It could be your appendix." Thomas replies.

"Okay." Newt says quietly as the pain passes. He swings his legs over the side of the couch and stands slowly.

Thomas stands up with him and places his arm around Newt's back. They walk slowly out to the car. Thomas helps Newt sit down in the passenger seat.

"Are you comfortable enough babe?" Thomas asks.

Newt nods and leans his head back against the headrest. Thomas kisses his forehead gently before walking quickly around to the driver's side and climbing in.

Newt whimpers softly and closes his eyes as his stomach cramps slightly. He rests his head against the cool glass of the window.

Thomas looks over at him and grabs his hand. "It's alright Newt. You're okay."

"What if I'm dying?" Newt responds quietly.

Thomas chuckles. "I won't let that happen. Maybe you ate something, or your appendix like I said before." He says as they drive down the road to the hospital.

15 minutes later, Thomas pulls into a parking space. He turns off the car and walks around to Newt's side of the car. He opens the door and helps his boyfriend out.

Newt slowly climbs out of the car and looks up at Thomas.

"How are you feeling?" Thomas asks.

"Tired, uncomfortable." Newt replies as they begin to walk slowly towards the hospital doors.

The automatic doors slide open for them. Thomas places Newt in one of the waiting room chairs before going to the front desk.

Newt curls up in a ball and watches Thomas as a new pain begins. He whimpers softly and shifts uncomfortably.

"The nurse will see us as soon as she can, okay?" Thomas says as he sits down next to Newt.

Newt nods slowly and bows his head slightly. His nose scrunches up as the pain get slightly stronger.

Thomas rubs Newt's shoulder and bicep gently. "It's alright babe." He says softly and kisses his temple gently.

Newt's body relaxes. "They're getting more uncomfortable."

Thomas nods. "They'll figure out what's wrong with you, I promise."

Newt looks around nervously. "I hate hospitals." He mumbles.

"I know, but it's the only place to find out why your stomach hurts so much." Thomas responds.

"Newt." A nurse calls from across the room.

Thomas stands and turns to face Newt. He grabs his hands and helps him up. They walk slowly over to the nurse.

"Hello Newt. My name is Paige, I'll be your nurse today. Follow me please." She says politely.

The two boys follow Paige to a empty exam room. Paige closes the door behind them. "There's a gown on the bed that I'd like you to change in to." She says. "I'll stand outside, to give you privacy."

Thomas nods as Paige leaves the room. Newt slowly pulls off his hoodie and grey t-shirt. Thomas picks up the white and blue gown and helps Newt put his arms through. Newt smiles slightly at Thomas in thanks before pulling off his jeans. Thomas ties the gown tightly in the back.
