Featherstar sat by the gorge, watching the water flow quickly far below her. She heard a bush rustle nearby, maybe it was a mouse. She turned her head back to watch the gorge.

She had sat there for who knows how long. She had Clan business to deal with, hopefully, her Deputy Duskfall would be dealing with that. She was busy waiting for something, but she doesn't know what.

The rustle in the bushes came back again, and then silence. Only the deep river in the gorge could be heard.

Suddenly she felt something heavy land on her back and pin her. She yowled in surprise and tried turning her head to see what or who it was. But there was something heavy keeping her head pressed to the ground. It was a paw she recognized,

"Oakstrike," She managed to growl, with a mouth full of mud. She heard muffled laughter behind her. Oakstrike leaned forward.

"Two lives left, I heard? Oh well, let's make this second one quick and the last one long, then." Featherstar attempted to get free of the exiled ThunderClan cat's grasp.

"Don't try, all you can say now is goodbye." Featherstar felt a sharp pain in her throat, blood soaked her chin. She yowled in pain and suddenly she was flying in the air and falling through the gorge.

She twisted around to look at Oakstrike's shrinking body, staring back at her.

Suddenly cold water engulfed her just as Oakstrike seemed to turn away.

Everything became black.

"Oh! Oakstrike's made another kill!" meowed a worried voice somewhere to her right. Featherstar knew instantly that she was in StarClan.

"Oh no! My child!" A familiar voice yelped nearby, she heard light footsteps approach her and she opened her eyes. Silverheart, her mother, was rushing towards her, her face portraying fear and worry.

Silverheart was now standing in front of her, her beautiful silver fur fluffed up in anger and fear."Oh, that evil cat! She has caused too much trouble, she'll meet a quick death soon!" Silverheart turned away, looking at the other remaining cat, Goldenstar, the leader before Featherstar.

Her mother turned to look back at Featherstar, "How's Minnowstream?" Featherstar could see her struggling to flatten her fur.

"Actually, Minnowstream is getting on pretty well, I bet she's worried sick about me; I've been gone for so long!" Featherstar stood up. "Can I be sent back please?"

Goldenstar said something, but Featherstar didn't hear what he said because she was suddenly aware that she was in the cold, rushing water of the gorge.

Her eyes snapped open and she struggled to reach the surface. She burst above the surface, coughing out water and looking for a safe place to swim to.

There, a small island which had a tunnel which, she guessed, led up back into RiverClan territory. She struggled through the rushing water and soon got pushed underwater by a current.

She wanted to give up, but she couldn't, she had a Clan to lead! She swam back to the surface, and the island was even closer than before. She dragged herself towards the middle of the island, which was not constantly wet by waves.

She vomited out what seemed to be gallons of water, and lay down.

I'll just rest, I'll go through that tunnel as soon as I have enough energy... Featherstar closed her eyes and fell into a deep sleep.

"Featherstar! Featherstar where are you!" Minnowstream burst out of the bushes, a squad of cats following after her. She had insisted on coming to find the RiverClan leader because she was her sister.

"She said she was going to the gorge." Informed one of the cats that had come, Silentfoot.

Minnowstream searched the edge of the gorge, and her blue eyes rested on the blood splatter, which was fairly new. "No!" She screamed, and raced towards it, the other cats hesitated briefly but followed after her.

Silentfoot trotted away from the group of cats, following a scent that was familiar. He turned around and quickly walked back to Minnowstream. "This is the doing of Oakstrike, Minnowstream." He told her.

Minnowstream was silent. Silentfoot continued, "Featherstar had two lives left, so you said, Oakstrike wouldn't have wasted her time just to get rid of one. I'm guessing that Oakstrike got rid of Featherstar's remaining lives by slashing her throat or along her stomach, and then threw her into the gorge."

"Well, then let's look for Featherstar's body!" Meowed an apprentice, Honeypaw, who found this exciting and devastating at the same time.

Minnowstream stood up and nodded. The cats spread out to search for the body.

"She's here!" Minnowstream lifted her head out of a bush as Swifttail called. "By the gorge, she's on that small island, over there!" The cats hurried to look over the gorge at a safe distance, indeed, there was Featherstar's body.

"There's a tunnel leading down to that island," Minnowstream meowed automatically, she and Featherstar used to hang out there secretly when they were both still warriors. "Let's go down there, I want to see if she still lives."

"Maybe she isn't?" Honeypaw meowed quietly. Minnowstream seemed not to have heard that and the squad of cats rushed through the tunnel.

As soon as Minnowstream entered the island she rushed over to Featherstar's body, checking through the wet fur for a heartbeat.

"No.." Minnowstream rested her body on Featherstar's, ignoring the cold, wet water from the RiverClan leader's fur seeping into her own.

"She's dead, isn't she? Like, dead dead?" Honeypaw meowed, a cat silenced her quickly.

They all knew the answer.

After watching her burial, and telling the other StarClan kits to leave her be for a bit, Featherstar sat down by a small pond a little way off from the group StarClan cats. She placed her tail on her two front paws and decided to watch a recap of her life.
