She looked as messed up as she felt, and as he asked her how she felt she wondered if he was blind to how she looked.
'Messed up.' she said making him bite back his reply and look away.
'Do you know why? '
'Well for starters, I let myself fall back into your arms, even when I knew better. '
'Is that why you've been avoiding me?' he sat beside her and let his shoulders brush hers briefly, making her react just as he expected. She shifted and crossed her legs in front of herself while briefly looking at the fountain beside them.
'Maybe,' she looked down at her fingers suddenly mesmerized by the white splotches they had.
'My only crime was not letting you go. You're very special to me and I just can't explain it Lady T, but like I told you before, losing you is not in my agenda. It most definitely is not an option. ' He placed his hand on her shoulder and pulled her into his chest as she began to sob quietly and her shoulders shook.
She pushed him away and cleaned her eyes.
'You can't keep doing this to me Sam. Don't you see? I'm beginning to lose my sanity. The only person who deserves to be called special by you is Hannah, because you chose her and you can't just keep me around like a property you own.' She stood up slowly, straightening her shoulders and looking him squarely in his eyes, 'Maybe if you aren't ready, I am and I will. I'm sorry but I can't do this anymore. I can't be that to you, whatever it is you use to justify keeping me around while dating Hannah. This is the end of our friendship. Goodbye Sam.'
Stunned into silence, Sam watched her graceful retreating figure leave the building and the words to call her back eluded him, till she was long gone.
