Step 8 Go to the colour wheel and darken the current skin colour a little bit.

Step 9 Make sure the brush is quite thin and then brush over the very darkest parts of the skin, like I have down below.

Step 10 Adjust the colour of the brush so it's lighter than the colour you just used, but still darker than the main skin colour. Then paint over the semi-dark parts of the skin. When you make the layer fully opaque again, it should look something like this:

Step 11 Hide that layer and repeat the above steps but for the hair. Except with the hair, I like to do one dark shade, and a lighter colour so there's some highlights. It should look something like this:

Step 12 Do the same thing for the clothes (I used two dark colours rather than doing highlights) and when you make all the layers visible, it should look a bit like this:

Step 13 Turn off the visibility of the original photo so you just have the painted layers left. You'll see that there's probably a few white bits and it looks a bit messy.

Step 14 Fill in the white bits with either the skin colour, hair colour or clothes colour until there are no white bits left and tidy up any messy edges, and then you'll be left with something a little like this:

Yeah, it's not the neatest and I'm sorry I forgot to screenshot some stages but I hope this was helpful and I'd love to see your vectors once you've tried it out! And you can always add more detail if you like, this is just to give you the basic idea.

I changed the colour of her top to fit the colour scheme. It's not the best lol but it's just an example of how you can use it.
