So these are all simple covers. They have an image, text, and maybe a few overlays or textures. These work best for teen fiction, romance, and other stories like that. Not to say simples covers can't work for other genres, it's just that those are the most common ones for this type.

These are minimal. There's text, and an image or shape, but they are mostly empty space. There's no textures or overlays added. You wouldn't use these for fantasy, sci fi, horror, etc.

These are manip, where you physically change something in the image and layer lots of images, textures, overlays, etc together to manipulate them into something else, if that makes sense. Heavy manips are usually used in sci fi, fantasy, horror, etc. But I do see lighter (less layers and simpler manipulation) work for teen fiction, romance, etc.
Then there typography covers, which is where the text is the main focus. They can be simple or manip and work for any genre.
