Charles Bruder was the 2nd shark attack of 1916. Charles Bruder was a Swiss bellhop at the Essex & Sussex hotel. During his break he went out to swim. 130 yards from shore the shark bit him in the abdomen then bit both his legs off. Life guards reached him and pulled him back to shore in a canoe he died on his way back to shore
