It's one of the few occasions that Bucky makes his way into town when he sees you. You're wearing a red dress with white flowers on, and you're standing with a group of friends laughing at one thing or another. You turn to the left with a beaming smile, the one that fills him with warmth and you walk into the open arms of another man. Bucky watches as the man leans down and presses a quick, careless kiss to your lips.

Automatically he's scowling. Who is this guy? And does he know how ungrateful he is? He gets to hold you in his arms, kiss you whenever he wants. And that's the best he can do? Pathetic.

Before he's able to walk away, you've noticed him and are waving him over. Reluctantly, Bucky makes his way to you and your friends.

"Bucky! Hi! These are my friends!" you say, motioning to the group behind you, "Guys, this is Bucky. He's been staying with us."

Everyone waves politely except for the man who possessively has his arm around your waist.

"Hey man, how's it going?" he asks.

When Bucky just stares at him, he huffs annoyed, turning to you instead.

"Is he deaf or what?"

"No, Chad," you reply with a roll of your eyes, "He's just shy. He doesn't say much."

"Where you going, Bucky?" you ask him.

"Store." he answers, pointing to the hardware store behind him.

"I'll go with you!"

"No, it's okay" he says, not wanting to take you away from your friends.

"I don't mind, honest. I'll see you guys later" you say before walking away from the group, not paying them, or Chad any attention. You fall into step with Bucky and silently walk into the store.

"Who are those people?" Bucky asks on the walk back home.

"They're my friends."

Bucky nods. "And Chad? Is he your boyfriend?" he asks.

"No." you laugh, "Well not really. He's just a guy I'm seeing. Why? Would it bother you if he was?" you ask him teasingly.

To your surprise, Bucky nods. "I don't like him. He's mean."

"He's not so bad" you sigh, "Once you get to know him."

"I don't want to get to know him." Bucky answers childishly.

"Okay. You don't have to. I'll be sure he doesn't come to the house, okay? You're a guest here, I don't want to do anything that makes you feel uncomfortable."

That's worse Bucky thinks to himself. That means that instead of Chad coming over, you'll be leaving to meet up with him and do god knows what. That means Bucky will have less time to spend with you. You shoulda just stayed quiet, idiot.
