Love?
Jamie thought about the word.
What even is that? Why do we all strive for it?
She felt done with the world. A burning sensation was growing in her. All she wanted to do was escape everything she knew. It was the type of feeling that made someone want to get up, leave everyone behind, forget who she thought she was, and start new.
Does anyone else ever feel this way?
She thought to herself. Suddenly her watch buzzed around her wrist. Shoot. I was supposed to be home an hour ago. Her mother was rapidly texting her. She got up and ran to her bike. Not noticing the uneven pavement below her, Jamie tripped and flew forward. A random boy caught her.
“Are you okay?” He looked at her with a smile. He was wearing torn jeans and a white hoodie.
“Uh Yah. Thanks.” She said not noticing much else about him. She began collecting herself and dusting off her jeans. “Thanks again” she said and then turned to get her bike. She got on and began riding towards her house.
“Yah, no problem!” He said waving his hand but quickly lowering it with a look of confusion as he realized Jamie wasn’t paying attention.
She rode for a solid ten minutes and finally reached home. She frantically parked the bike in the garage and made her way in. Her mother stood in front of her. “I know mom. I’m sorry. I lost track of time.”
“You need to remember to text. Your dad is so worried. And you know him. He’s mad at you but I have to hear about it all day.” She looked at Jamie and frowned. Then she went back to cooking. “Just go talk to him.”
“Fine.” Jamie walked up the stairs
