The Zombie Apocalypse

You would think that a school would be the best place if there was ever a zombie apocalypse but you thought wrong. It was July 23, 2020 and Timber was at home. She went into the living room and turned on the TV. She was watching her favorite cartoon, Sponge Bob Square-pants and thinking of what the next school year would be like. She couldn't wait for 8th grade. She hoped she had the same classes as some of her friends. But, all of a sudden the channel changed to the news. Was it an accident? I think not. The Headline said " New Virus Outbreak Turning People Into Zombies".

"What's this? " asked Timber,

"It's probably fake," she said, " Zombies aren't even real."

She kept watching anyway because she was still curious. That is when all the craziness started. Stores turned into war zones, and houses started to get boarded up. Then, it was silent. After all the ruckus, the streets were empty except for scattered abandoned cars. Stores were sold out and everyone's house looked vacant with no life in them. It was like a ghost town.

Her parents hadn't returned from work yet and she was bored out of her mind. She was all alone with no one but her cat Tinker. So she decided to make Mac & Cheese. After the Mac & Cheese was done she sat on the couch and watched the news. The headline read " Zombie Spotted Near A House In Salt Lake City, Utah"

Then the attacks started to happen. First there were five zombies.

"Not a big deal. Thousands of humans against five zombies. That should be a piece of cake." Timber spoke to herself trying to keep calm. Then there were ten.

" Why aren't the cops doing anything about this or even the military?" She said, again trying her very best to keep calm, but starting to panic.

Then they were all over. There were zombie babies, zombie animals, zombie grandparents, and zombie parents. Everyone was a zombie. Everyone except Timber and her friends. Their parents and siblings were attacked the day before. She called her friends. Luckily, they all answered.

"Our best chance of survival is to head to the school for shelter. At least there we can hopefully figure out a plan to save the people and our families." She told them.

So they all went to the school. When they got there they first had to think of a plan of survival before they thought of a cure. They boarded up the windows, locked all the doors, dug escape routes, and gathered all the food they could possibly get. Once they all had a survival plan, everyone got to work. They used the chemistry lab to start working on a serum but they had to get a sample of the virus first. CRASH! They all turned to the window. They looked out through the silver where the two pieces of wood met and saw over 100 zombies and more were coming by the second.

" OK, nobody panic." Timber said, trying to keep everyone as calm as she could.

" If we panic, then we won't be able to think. Now's our chance to get a sample of the zombie virus so we can think of a cure," she said.

" We need to be creative on how we handle this. My suggestion is to find different things that zombies don't like and make armor out of it. Then we can go down, capture a zombie, kill it, and there's our sample." Mason said.

" Kill the zombie with what genius? " asked Sophie.

" It was just a suggestion." snapped Mason.

" Guys, Now's not the time to bicker. The zombies are getting closer, and they are increasing by the second. We don't have much time to figure out a plan. This is a life or death situation," Timber said. " My suggestion is instead of killing a zombie, we could just hold it down, and draw some blood out of the thing."

They all finally agreed on Timbers plan.

" Ok, let's go and find some gear for armor." Timber ordered.

Once they got all they could find including spatulas, spoons, and knives from the kitchen, they gathered back at the chemistry lab.

The plan was for the friends to go out and grab a zombie. Then they are going to dog pile on top of the zombie holding it face down so it doesn't try to bite anyone. While they are dogs piled on top of the zombie, Timber is going to stick the needles in the zombie and draw some blood out of the zombie. Then she is going to run straight to the virus tester and put the syringe in the tester. Meanwhile her friends will be locking everything up. They succeeded with plan and timber was able to get the needle in the zombie then she headed to the lab.

In the lab, they put the syringe in the virus tester. Then there was a bang, and then a rattle. She gathered her friends and told them a place to go where they are safe. While they were traveling to the place, Timber started to put together the ingredients to make the serum. She put a timer on the serum and set it to release. In 5 days the serum will activate and be released. After the serum was prepped, Timber went to find some armor and a weapon. After Timber got her armor, and a large knife from the kitchen, she then carefully sneaked out into the sea of zombies.

As Timber stared into the devilish eyes of the zombies, she was ready to defend her town and eventually her planet. As Timber started to run, she heard a voice inside her head. It was screaming," Don't do it." She ignored the voice and started attacking the zombies. There was yelling, kicking, punching, stabbing, and killing. As Timber was fighting the zombies, she felt a knife go through her back. She dropped to the ground and stayed there. When Timber's friends heard all of the ruckus down stairs, they began to get worried.

" Where is Timber? Is she even ok?" asked Carlos.

The friend group got to the place they realized that they needed a ladder because they had to climb up 200 ft. They were about to start making a rope ladder but then someone looked in the back pack and found a ladder already made. Therefore they started to climb but when they reached the top, they realized they had a limited amount of food. They had five bottles of water, six pb & j sandwiches, and 5 cans of food each. Therefore they had to make the food last as long as they possibly could.

They made it so they could only have a sip of water a day, and enough food to last them the day but after a while they ran out and needed some food. So they decided to send Cally down into the sea of zombies to try and get food but she died. She was no match for the zombies but they needed food so badly because they were about to die. Therefore they decided to send another person to get food. Kaleb volunteered to go. When he went down into the sea of zombies he was able to fight off 10 but then died soon after.

They kept sending people one after the other another till there was only one person left. That person was Mason and he decided was going to fight the zombies. He did it for Timber assuming she died because he really didn't really know. Therefore he climbed down and fought his hardest, the hardest he has ever fought before. But eventually he tired out and his fate matched Timbers. They all died to save the people they loved.

Meanwhile back at the school the timer on the serum was done to its last 2 minutes. So after those two minutes the serum was released. Therefore the zombies turned back to their original form. The group of friend's family turned back to their original form. They started putting up searching signs for the children's bodies. A day or so later they found their children's bodies and gave them a proper burial. The whole world decided to make a statue of the heroes because they saved them after all.

Everyone I mean everyone was grateful of them because if they hadn't turned to zombies before they went to the school the people might still be zombies right now. The statue took about six months to build but the statue was a picture of the friend group in armor prepared to fight a group of zombies. The people were so grateful that they even made a holiday to celebrate the heroes. They also gave millions of dollars to their families.

Every year people would dress up as zombies besides the few that were selected to be the heroes. Everyone was so happy and enjoyed their life. Until a year later when another girl named Timber after the hero turned on her TV to watch her favorite TV show SpongeBob Square Pants. But her show got rudely interrupted when the channel switched to the news. The headline read " New Virus Outbreak That Turns People Into Werewolves!"
