Prologue

Long ago the queen of the Gods, Hera, befriended a young queen by the name of Andromeda, these unlikely friends would in time change the world.

Andromeda was the new queen of Aedis, a peaceful city off the coast of what is now known as Greece. One day Andromeda was notified by the city guard that a great army was approaching its walls.

Hera seeing her friend's disheartened expression asked what troubled her. Upon hearing of the approaching army readying to attack Aedis, Hera feared for her friend's life, for Andromeda was only mortal and most likely would not survive this battle.

Hera's mind was fixated on the fate of her mortal friend and she came to a decision. She appeared to Andromeda the next day, finding her in the midst of readying, for the coming battle. Hera led Andromeda through the city to the city square where there stood a large fountain. Hera placed her hand on the edge of the fountain and at once the white marble turned to pure gold. Turning around she instructed Andromeda that the golden fountain would give anyone who drank from it, godlike abilities and if every citizen of Aedis drank from this fountain they would never lose a battle again.

The battle against the foreign army was won in an hour and the celebrations lasted for weeks. However, soon word spread about the tiny victorious city and the magic fountain. Invaders from all over the continent came, intent on fighting the people of Aedis in order to drink from the golden fountain. Andromeda in an effort to discourage the invaders had the golden fountain destroyed. But still the invaders came. In a particularly harsh battle Andromeda's husband was killed. In a fit of anguish, Andromeda called out to Hera and begged her to save her people. Hera answered. With the help of her fellow gods she created an island far from the known world. Hera

informed Andromeda that if she wished for her people to survive, to sail to this island, for they would be safe there.

Soon a thousand ships left the city of Aedis. Guided by the queen of the gods herself, they arrived on the sands of their new home which was named Aedis in honour of their beloved city.

Soon after settling on the island Andromeda gave birth to a beautiful baby girl which she named Danea. However even with a goddess by her side, Andromeda did not survive the birth and passed away an hour after the child was born, but not before she made Hera promise to look after her child.

True to her promise Hera brought Danea to Olympus, the home of the gods, and raised her as her own. Growing up in Olympus Danea knew that she was different. Though she was faster than the average human, she was not as fast as her immortal brother and sister, Apollo and Artemis. But to young Danea that did not matter. The siblings still had as much fun as any human siblings could have, perhaps even more. The other gods also grew fond of Danea and attempted to teach her everything they knew.

As Danea grew older, the gods became more aware that they would one day lose her, just as Hera had lost Andromeda. They devised a plan. It was quickly concluded that Danea could not be made into a god, for she would then lose her human heart. Therefore, it was decided to instead make her soul immortal. This meant that although Danea would remain mortal, her soul along with all her memories would incarnate into a new body with each new birth. After broaching the subject to sixteen-year-old Danea, she agreed for she did not wish to lose the only family she had ever known. So each of the gods poured a piece of themselves into her soul, imbuing it with immortality.

Life went on nearly the same as it always had for Danea, after gaining an immortal soul. Though she now found that she was now able to easily keep up with Apollo and Artemis, and for a couple more years she ran around Olympus without a care in the world.

After turning eighteen Danea began to wonder about Aedis, the place her birth mother was from. She began to wonder so much, that after a tearful goodbye and the promise to visit often, Danea left Olympus and travelled to Aedis.

Five years later Danea was crowned the new queen of Aedis. During her rule Danea created the Aedayen Guard a group of highly trained warriors, who scoured the world protecting humanity from the monsters who had escaped from hell. Towards the end of her reign, Danea along with her uncle Hephaestus, created the Andromeda shield, a great barrier which protected Aedis from monsters, but also hid Aedis from the eyes of anyone not from Aedayen decent. Effectively making the small island look like any other patch of water.

Fifty-four years after she was crowned, Danea second queen of Aedis, died surrounded by her immortal and mortal family. Over the centuries the daughter, of Queen Andromeda had been many people, but though her body changed, her soul did not.
