I've grown to love the smell of coffee in the morning. Who doesn't? The freshly ground coffee beans permeating the room with a deep and pungent smell that covered your body in goosebumps and sent tingles down the spine. It was refreshing to wake up to after an otherwise restless night.
I smell it all the time. In the early morning when my mom is getting ready for work, when I wake up in Tsukki's bed at 4am when he has his "late night coffee crash" on the few occasions I spent the night with him, and every time I enter that cute little cafe that's just down the street from Tsukki's place when Tsukki and I have our weekend coffee dates.
Tsukki and I are coffee fanatics. Ever since we became teenagers and coffee was coffee instead of poison to our parents, we became obsessed with it. It became such a problem that now part of Tsukki's usual clean laundry and bourbon cologne smell was traces of coffee. Whether it be deep in his linens, or very faintly in his breath when he spoke or kissed me, coffee became a part of Tsukki's smell and taste. Somehow, it fit Tsukki.
Now that I think about it, coffee remind me a lot of Tsukki. Typically bitter to most people unless you add something sweet. A musky, aromatic scent that you could smell without being completely near it. Refreshing. Rejuvenating. Refined. And most of all, for me at least, can't get through the day without it. Oh, and of course, I love coffee. A lot.
