Things Are Not Always What They Seem

The storm raged on. Flashes of lighting streaked across the night sky. The wind whipped the trees about, their branches groaning and creaking. Sara sat huddled underneath the blanket on the couch. She was home alone and not liking it one bit. As she peaked out from under her blanket, for the 100th time, her wide scared eyes looked towards the scratching on the window. Crying out, she ducked her head under her blanket again. She was sure she saw long sharp claws scratching at the windows.

Slipping her hand out from under her blanket, she fumbled for the telly remote. Just as her fingers' found it, the lights flickered. Once.....twice.....and with a loud clap of thunder and a flash of lightening, the lights went out. She was left in total and complete darkness.

Shivering under the blanket, her whole world having been thrown into total darkness by the storm. The wind and storm continued to rage on. Sara slipped the blanket down. Just as she did so, another clap of thunder sounded, and lighting flashed. She began to shiver again.

A mouse squeaked and scampered across the wooden floor. Catching a glimpse of it, she screamed again. 'Oh, this night was getting better and better' she thought. Not only is she in the dark and scared to death. Now there is a rodent scampering around in the dark house as well.

As she got up off the couch, she heard a noise come from upstairs. Something that sounded like feet. 'Oh great. A robber' she thought worriedly. She went to the fire place and grabbed her grandfather's rifle that hung over it. With it clutched in her hands, she mad her way to the stairs.

She was about to step onto the first step when, a clap of lighting lit the house up. She looked up and saw a person standing at the top of the stairs. Just looking at her! Then the house went dark, then was bright again with more lighting. She looked up and the person was....gone?!

She was so scared, that when she heard the mouse squeak, she tried pulling the trigger on the rifle. Not having heard any bullet whoosh or bang. She realized that the safety was on. She started up the stairs once her heart was beating normally, again.

She made her way up the stairs, quietly and slowly. Making sure not to step on the creaky parts. Once she was at the top of the stairs, she looked for any sign of the person. Seeing nothing, she made her way to the first bedroom to the right.

She opened the door. It creaked a little, but she still opened it. She looked around and saw nothing out of sorts. Until, she looked at the window next to the bed. She moved closer and closer until she was a foot away. The window was wide open and the lace curtains were extremely wet.

Just as she moved to shut the window, something moved behind her. She was frozen with fear. Sara turned around slowly,  and was face to face with....her half-brother.

"Oh my God!!" she screamed as she fell to the floor.

Sara woke to the sounds of machines beeping and the smell of blood. She opened her eyes and saw a dark and nasty looking ceiling. She tried sitting up and couldn't. She looked down at her feet and saw chains on her ankles. Then she looked at her wrists and saw they were chained to the wall.

She looked towards the door as she heard it open. Her half-brother walked in. Now a normal six-two guys look hot and very handsome. Not the case with Jason though. Jason looks like the other side of hell. Patches of hair were missing. His face looks like a cat attacked him and he looks as if he hasn't eaten in hour months.
