No One Knows

Light night,
red eyes.
Fresh cuts
on her thighs.
Soaked cheeks,
no surprise.
Feels so broken,
just barely alive.
4 am,
still awake.
On the verge,
about to break.

Next morning,
fresh start.
But still the pain's
in her heart.
Washes face,
brushes hair.
No one notices
her slower pace.

She gets to school
and ignores everyone.
Friends wonder
where she goes.
It's been awhile,
but she hides it all
with a smile.

"I'm fine"
she lies.
the food she denies.
no one hears her cries,
and no one will know about
the rope she'll tie
tonight to come.
