Chapter 2

Lauren's POV

Almost six months ago

I was invited for a children's Function since I was well known as one the richest in USA.
Nothing to brag about though as much as the luxury is so great it also comes with it's disadvantages everyone wants something from a rich guy.
I was the Second of Four Children... Emily my elder sister already go married two years ago and Donald who is the CEO of a textile business since he also refused to work in our family company and Samantha was the last and also in her Final year in High school

I closed for the day and made my way to my penthouse
Opening the door I was greeted by one of my house keepers Maria
She was in her early sixties. I have known Maria since I was a little kid and she was also like a mother to me and well trusted

Good evening Maria..... Evening Lauren
How was your day she asked... It was fine how about yours... I nodded which she understood as a way of saying my day was okay
"Will you like to eat anything before you leave for your function"?
I then told her to prepare any food of her choice that I could eat without any haste
Making my way to my bedroom I took off my clothes and made my way to the bathroom to freshen up and wore my suit and hurried downstairs to where Maria was and ate the food she prepared
Mentally calculating to know if I was ready I bid my goodbye to Maria and made my way to my Kia Stinger GT-S which my driver drove to the venue

As expected there were lots of paparazzi throwing questions and flashing lights
I made my way into the Hall and as always it was full of familiar faces
After making speeches and donations and having few drinks I made my way to the garden since it was a children's Function
I felt the night breeze hit my face

Then suddenly I heard the scream of a baby from the scream I figured it was that of a girl. I made my way to the corner of where I heard the noise and to my shocking surprised I saw a woman hit the girl several times, at the sight of this I ran to where the woman was and gave her a slap which I don't normally do but I felt bad. It attracted the attention of some of the guest which eventually made a scene and the paparazzi were not left out I think they have a great story to publish and by morning the news will be flying round united states
I quickly picked up the little girl who was still crying in my arms with her head buried in my neck
"Give me my daughter"! the woman snapped at me which angered me the more
Ignoring her I called the organizers of the Function and ask them if they knew the woman which I later discovered that she adopted the baby few months ago from an orphanage. Then and there I made up my mind to adopt the little girl which surprised everyone
"see you in court Woman" I said
Shock was written all over her face but you can't take her away from me
"Watch me"... Then I requested for the CCTV footage which was given to me
Making my way to my penthouse my mind was drifted to the incident that happened at the function
Why will someone treat an innocent baby with such wickedness. Taking a glance at the little creature that was sleeping on my lap. She is sooo small, fragile and beautiful... Unlocking my penthouse I made my way to one of the rooms in the penthouse  and laid her there. Thinking of a name to give her I decided to name her Sophie. Trying to adjust her to bed my eyes caught something on her body which I looked closely and found little scar marks on her back and legs too what the hell... I explained everything to Maria who was also shocked and surprised. I made arrangements for her room to be painted and clothes to be bought for her too. Few days later I won the court case And that was how I got myself a baby girl without getting married. 🤣
