Basic controls for Minecraft java (The one on computers.)

Quick note, A mouse is extremely helpful but not necessary. I highly recommend it.

Controls

W, A, S, and D

Allow you to move forward, left, backward and to the right.

W: Move forward

A: Move left.

D: Move right.

S: Move backward.

Double clicking W will allow you to sprint and move much faster but It drains your hunger more then walking does.

Pressing the space bar will allow you to jump.

Space: Jump

Jumping while you run will allow you to move faster, but like sprinting, it will drain your hunger.

Left clicking your mouse is attack or break.

You must hold down left click to break blocks.

Jumping or sprinting while you attack will allow you to do more damage with your attack.

Right click is use or place.

If you put your crosshairs over a furnace or a crafting table and Right click you will open it up or "Use." it. Right clicking on beds will allow you to sleep in them and so on.

Some items must be used differently, such as a bow with which you must hold use for a full second to reach full charge. And a fishing pole that you must click at the right time to catch a fish. If you have a sword or another non usable item in your hand then you can click right click to use a shield. (If you have one.)

If you have a block in your hand and you right click you will place said block wherever your crosshairs are.

If it is one of the few blocks affected by gravity like, sand, and gravel, It will fall unless supported by a block beneath it.

This can be useful but also dangerous so be careful.

E: allows you to open and close your inventory.

Q: will drop the item you are currently holding in your hand. If you are holding a stack of items it will only drop one.

Clicking shift while you click something has an interesting property. For example if you shift click on wood planks that you have just crafted it will craft as many wood planks as it possibly can.

Shift clicking on armor in your hand will instantly put it on.

Shift clicking on something in a crafting grid or a furnace will instantly put it in your inventory.

The only way to really learn how to use shift clicking is to play the game.

Clicking the numbers at the top of your keyboard will allow you to switch between items in your hotbar.

Clicking f5, not the F key and the 5 key, but the key at the very very top of your keyboard the has f5 on it. Will allow you to go into third person mode where you see your person from above and behind instead of from their view
