I love summer, specifically summer nights. The ones where it's not unbearably hot or too cold and the sky is clear so you could see it adorned with millions of stars. I stargaze in the garden every night I can, I have since I was a child. By now I can recognize constellations without trying. It's funny how balls of light made up of hydrogen and helium millions of lightyears away can look so pretty. Tonight I set out earlier than normal, needing some time to think. I laid on a blanket spread over my favorite patch of grass. I stared at a few stars that slowly made their appearance as the sky transitions from day to night was about to happen.

My house-elf Petal would join me if she wasn't extremely busy with my parents. Petal has been with my family for a few generations. She's one of the only people I can trust. In some ways, she's more of a mother to me than my own. Petal always knows what to say to make me feel better. I promised to set her free once I graduate even though she's told me countless times she would never leave me. A smile made its way onto my face when the familiar pop sound interrupted my thinking.

"Achilles, Master Peleus wishes for you to come inside so they can begin dinner." Petal smiled down at me and outstretched her hand for mine. I sighed, knowing it was better if I left now so he wouldn't be mad at me. Connecting our hands, we gradually made our way out of the garden and back to the manor.

I made sure to smooth my hair and dust off my dress before I entered the dining room. There I was met with my father's cold stare contrasting the bored look on my mother's face. I saw a familiar figure I didn't know I'd be seeing tonight, standing in the door frame opposite of me. Immediately I rushed over to their place "Uncle Severus!" He pulled me in for a hug which I gladly returned. "Surprised to see me Lea?" he asked, smirking as he knew he pulled off the surprise well. Nodding, I looked to my mother "How could you not tell me Uncle Sev was coming for dinner?" She sighed before looking at uncle Sev and back to me, "He asked me to keep it a secret so he could surprise you." I laughed and hugged uncle Sev once more before making my way to my seat. Uncle Sev took a seat opposite me and winked before the attention focused on my parents.

My father cleared his throat, eyeing me as he turned towards my uncle. "Yes, Severus, we are so delighted you could make it. We have much to discuss." Their eyes met, and it seemed they were having a conversation with no words needed. My mother's hand reached over the table and grasped my father, which pulled him away from the silent conversation he was having. "That can wait until after dinner, for now, let us enjoy a meal without such serious affairs." Her voice was smooth and calm but her eyes were hard and serious, daring my father to go against her wishes. Recognizing the tension in the room, I made a conversation with my uncle. "Uncle Sev, anything worth my attention being discussed in potions this year?" He smirked as he replied, "I assume you have a good guess as the materials list was distributed." I sighed and slouched against my chair "I don't mean the topics we have to go over. I mean something I will find interesting, something challenging." Before an answer could be said, Petal and the other house-elves severed dinner.
