Chapter 2- The Nerd has Fire

Jakes P.O.V.

I walked around the mall with my best friend Reece Stiles.

"Dude I'm so glad we ditched today. Mr. Martin's class sounded so boring."

I told Reece as I raised my hands over my head and stretched. When I did I heard faint giggling coming from a group of girls nearby. I winked and flexed my biceps at them. I grinned when they all swooned. Reece chuckled and punched my arm,

"Gross man."

I shrugged and we continued to walk. Suddenly, Reece froze beside me. He was staring at something in front of him, dazed. I frowned when I saw Madison sitting on a bench. I chuckled under my breath at the panicked look in Reece's eyes. He may be the biggest player in school but when it came to Madison he was a blushing virgin all over again. I dragged him up to Madison with me and shoved him on the bench next to her. I sat beside her on her unoccupied side and said,

"It's no fun to ditch by yourself ya know."

Madison laughed lightly and admitted,

"I'm here with Adriana. We went dress shopping. Look!"

She pulled a small black dress out of the bag at her feet in triumph. My eyes widen at the skimpy piece of fabric. Please tell me my little Nerd was going to be wearing that. Madison giggled gleefully to herself,

"Adriana is going to look so gorgeous in this at the party tonight."

My heart nearly stopped.

"Whose party."

I demanded. Adriana in such an attractive dress would get eaten alive at a crazy house party. Madison looked surprised and replied,

"Evan Stemer."

Reece piped up,

"Ha what a coincidence I am going there tonight. Wanna be my date?"

When Madison turned to him Reece winked flirtatiously. Madison had a bored look on her face when she replied,

"I actually want go have fun at the party, not be put to sleep."

Reece's grinning face fell and I chuckled. Madison grumbled under her breath,

"Where the hell is that girl?"

I stiffened. Was she talking about Adriana? When I asked Madison blinked in confusion but begrudgingly told me,

"She left her wallet at the store but she hasn't come back yet."

I stood up, feeling angry for some reason.

"I will go get her."

When Madison opened her mouth to object I glared hard at her and she closed her mouth with an audible snap. As I was walking away I heard Reece say something and a loud slap followed. I chuckled and walked toward the outlet.

I blinked in surprise at what I saw. Adriana was standing in front of a cashier holding a pile of money, counting it. I leaned against a wall and watched. I heard her faintly say,

"$20. Nice haul."

I saw a glimpse of her face. It was angry and the look in her eyes was blazing and heated. Her entrancing green eyes were shooting fire. My jaw dropped when she ripped the money clean in half.

"Too bad I'm worth more than $20."

When she stalked out of the store I was fascinated. Most nerds were sensitive, shy, and weak. I knew for a fact she was bullied so how could she have such fire in her eyes? Then I saw her face as she walked out. Tears silently fell down her cheeks. The look of watery eyes and a trembling lip was oddly sexy. I shook my head in confusion. Did I really just think the Nerd was sexy?

"No way..."

I mumbled to myself. That never happened. I walked into the store and saw the cashier picking up halves of torn bills.

"Crazy-ass bitch..."

He mumbled under his breath. I leaned against the counter and asked,

"Hey man what happened?"

The cashier raised his head and I realized it was Isaac, the biggest jerk I knew. Me and Isaac used to be best friends till I found out he slept with my older sister then broke her heart. I could never bring myself to forgive him. Isaac threw his hands into the air in frustration and anger,

"Crazy ass bitch ripped up my money. My buddies betted I wouldn't flirt with the ugliest girl that came to my check out and I did and they were paying me and she came back like a thirsty ho and ripped up my money. Can you believe it?"

I clenched my fists at my sides in anger. Was he really that arrogant and stupid? I grabbed the collar of his ugly work outfit and leaned forward over the counter so our faces were inches apart. I snarled,

"You deserved it. Don't you know girls are sensitive?"

I shoved him away in disgust. Isaac glared at me. I spun on the heels on my leather biker boots and spat over my shoulder as I left,

"And one more thing. She could never be the ugliest girl anywhere."
