"Grace!" I heard my twin brother yell my name at the top of his lungs. "Grace, please!" I felt his hands on my shoulders, shaking me. My eyes fluttered and all I could make out were a couple of blurry figures. The rest—darkness.
"Mmf," I mumbled. My head was throbbing. It hurt so, so badly. I squeezed my eyes shut to keep the tears from slipping down my cheeks, but to no avail. I balled my fists, cringing. I hated for them to see me like this. I had never wanted anyone to see me like this. It was never supposed to get this far out of my control. Yet, here I was.
"Grace!" Another wail. "Wake. Up!"
I couldn't. His voice faded. All I could hear was buzzing with the occasional sentence or two from my brother. My stomach continued to tie itself in knots, and I felt a cool hand on my forehead.
"I'm so sorry," came a whisper. "So, so sorry." Over and over again, telling me he was sorry. For what, I didn't know. This was all my fault; I had brought this upon myself. That was the last thought I had before I slipped into unconsciousness.
