"Is that it or did I say something even more horrific?" he asked warily.
"Well," I said, suddenly nervous. "Right before you passed out you told me why you were upset. You told me about how you ran into Beatrice.....the girl you love."
My mood immediately deflated after I said that for some reason.
A mixture of emotions passed through his face. Anger. Frustration. Confusion and lastly, it settled on an apologetic one.
"Veronica, its not what it sounds like," he said as he started walking towards me. "Its all in the past. I swear I don't feel anything-"
"You don't owe me an explanation," I said as I cut him off and put my hand in front to stop him. "We're only friends. Its not like we're together for me to get jealous or feel bad, right?"
"Right," he said, his expression stoic.
"You can like whoever you want and so can I, right?" I mumbled the last part, hoping for him to contradict me.
"Right," he said again as he cleared his throat and took a step back.
"Great. Well, I was just a little worried because I thought you'd have a terrible hangover and since you clearly don't, I'll just leave."
Please ask me to stay and clear this Beatrice stuff out.
"Yeah, um, you should go. Austin must be waiting for you."
I rolled my eyes and exited the room. So much for wanting to stay.

I quietly sat on the couch with Jerko's hand around my shoulder as I tried putting on a brave face. It was ridiculous in a way, that I couldn't even cry. I had shed all my tears when it came to her.
"Say something SpongeBob, please," Jerko whispered as he almost begged me to speak. I found it weird that my mood was ten times better when I had woken up but after walking out of Xavier's room it had considerably worsened. I was worried, I had deduced. Worried that just like she had left me, Xavier would too.
He was in love with someone else Veronica, why would he ever reciprocate your feelings? He'd just run away once he finds out about the way you feel.
"I'm fine, Jerko," I said as I rested my head on his chest. "It's your birthday today and you need to have fun. If you and Jen sulk around with me all day, the others will start asking questions I don't think I am ready to answer."
"It's okay, honey," Jen said as she came and sat on my other side. She took my hand in hers and squeezed it lightly to calm me down.
"Bros and hoes!" Simon yelled as he came out with Kelsi's hand in his. Jamie, Sky, Roy and Xavier came behind them too. "What are we doing today, guys?!"
Jerko glanced at me, turned towards Simon and said, "Um, sorry man we aren't-"
"You guys are going to go out for shopping," I cut him in.
Jerko glared at me but I ignored him and said, "Jerko's taking all of you guys shopping. He'll pay for everything since its his birthday and the guy is loaded."
Austin looked angry, not because I was making him spend so much money but because he obviously knew I wont be joining them.
"Sweet," Roy said with a grin.
"This is sooo cool, I love having rich friends!" Kells giggled. Her eyes widened as she soon realised what she said though and corrected herself. "Not that I am friends with you because you are rich, Austin. I swear I didn't mean it like that."
"Kells, its fine, I get it. Chill," Jerko said as he gave her a small smile.
"I wouldn't have to see all your faces the entire time though, right? I'll just text you when I go to pay the bill Austin," Sky said.
