It was a rainy morning, and knowing how much I hated the rain, I opened my umbrella and started to wonder what could be happening that would cause such a thing. Holo, my fox, moved closer to my side as the rain deepened. I allowed her to walk closer to my side and watched as the other tenants of the fire district went home to evade the oncoming storm. I came to realize that the other tenants were watching me out of the corner of their eyes.
Holo told me, "I will climb onto your shoulder now."
"Go ahead," I said, as she climbed up my arm I lent her. We both knew that having a fox as a representative was extremely rare, as was having any canine representative as well and being as such, was very ... odd, to put it nicely. We both hated being stared at, so we'd rather she be hidden. "How is your tail coming along?"
"The Black and White tail have finished growing," She said, her tails swishing on my back, "Yet it still aches as I have four more splits in the original, and they have yet to show any form of color or grow more than the others."
"Okay, that's both good and bad, good because we're stronger, bad because we don't know our abilities yet."
"Should we go tell your parents?"
"Not yet, let's go to the training ground and see what Black and White do after we tell them we're going to practice."
"Sounds like a plan." She said, settling around my shoulders. We walked by my house and saw the youngest sibling, Hestia, with her small leopard, Tam, sweeping the front porch.
I asked as I came up with the front steps, "Hey, Hestia. Mom and Dad home yet?"
She looked up at me and said, "Nah, but they did say that they were going to be late coming back from the camp."
Okay now as much as I supported the war, I did not appreciate the fact that mom and dad were fighting in this war as I had friends that usually had only one parent come back, and usually have the eldest sibling either go fight to get the same income, or they have to go to work at one of the two cities. As selfish as it seems, I was glad I wasn't one of them.
