There is no worst enemy than anger which destroys both our inner and outer happiness!

நகையும் உவகையும் கொல்லும் சினத்தின்
பகையும் உளவோ பிற‌.
                                                -குறள் 304

Explanation:
Getting unnecessarily angry spoils our beauty of life and self image. We should stay calm and not create a dangerous enemy called "anger", or else it paves way to our foolishness.

Look before you leap/ think twice before you react!

*****

It's not good to forget someone who benefitted us; It's better to forget someone who destroyed us.

நன்றி மறப்பது நன்றன்று நன்றல்லது
அன்றே மறப்பது நன்று.
                                         ‌       -குறள் 108

Explanation:

When someone helps us, we should be grateful to them and never forget those people in our life. We need to value them as much as they valued us.

But if someone wants to destroy you in the name of hate, we have to stand up against it by completely boycotting them, that's forgetting! We needn't react to them as revenge is a weak point.

Thiruvalluvar has explained these two couplets in a very versatile manner. It has a deep meaning inside!
