HERE IT IS!!! Bon appetit :)

BEEP* *BEEP* *BEEP*

Ughhh.... not now please...

*BEEP* *BEEP* *BEEP*

No...It’s too early for this...

*BEEP* *BEEP* *BEEEEEEEEEEPPPPP*

ARGH!! THAT'S IT!

I slam my hand straight on top of my desk conveniently placed next to my bed for such occasion. But instead of destroying my God-forsaken-annoying alarm clock to smithereens like I had hoped, I knocked over my floor lamp causing it to collide with my shelf over my bed. All my textbooks, dictionary and --surprise, surprise-- my alarm clock fall onto my face in a matter of five seconds. It's a record. At least I got my alarm to shut up.

"Carmen? Are you up yet? Did you turn off your alar--"

My mom opened my bedroom door and saw me in my bed head surrounded by chaos and a clock balanced perfectly on my head. Ignoring the mess as always, she just smiled.

"Oh good. I was hoping you would get up. I put the alarm up there so you wouldn't keep on breaking it. This is your 12th one you know."

I grumbled

"Angie's coming in ten minutes and pancakes are down stairs."

As my mom walked down the stairs humming, I just sat there gawking. I love my mom, just not right now.

Wash face. Brush teeth. Comb hair.

Unlike other girls, I don't take forever to dress up for school.

T-shirt on. Jacket on. Put on jeans. Slip on converse.

I don't wear designer brands and carry around a Chanel. I'm just a simple, normal girl attending a school were multi-millionaires and and CEO's send their kids, if you can call that 'normal'.

Put on glasses then I'm done.

"CAAAAARMEN!! Angie's here"

I'm already out the door.

* * * *

Once I jump into her mustang, she takes one look at me and grins like the idiot she is.

"When are you ever going to lose the homeless person get-up?"

I grumble something about not enough cash and no need for expensive clothing.

She does a dramatic sigh. Wow. The drama club is doing wonders for her.

"Really Carmen? I told you that you could borrow my stuff if you wanted--"

"But I don't." I snapped back and I sighed--it's contagious--"I'm sorry I just had a...Umm...eventful morning."

She laughed, “Your whole life is eventful. You have the worst of luck and I should know..."

"Yeah..." I said grimacing as the wind swept past my face remembering the last few day of freshman year, when Angie first met me.

She chuckled, “Well I was shocked when I saw you practicing in the gym. Who knew that scholarship girl would be break-dan--"

"SHUT UP!"

"aww..." she patted me head like I was a puppy, “It’s okay wittle Carmy. I would nevwa tell anybody."

God, I hated when she does that.

We drove right into the parking lot. Lucky for us there was an open spot near the front. Unlucky for me because of who got out of the car right next to it. Hailey Bryant. Principal Bryant's little princess and Lakeview’s own Drama queen. Oh, did I mention she is a total bitch?

I quickly get out the car as fast as I can and try to keep my head down and eyes averted. I feel a jerk and find that my backpack strap caught on the door.

Dammit.

Hailey looks up in surprise then her signature smirk crawls up her face. God, I hate her more than I hate Angie's baby voice and that says A LOT.

"Carmen? Is that you?"

Double dammit.

The moment she started walking toward me I freeze. Wild animals are more scared of you than you are of them, seeing that Hailey is a cross-breed of stupid and stupider it shouldn't be a problem.

"I haven't seen you all summer! How have you been?"

Great. Just great, Hailey. Do you know why? You weren't there.

"Aww... did you miss me?"

No and I never will.

"So...these clothes”, she picks up the hem of my sweater as if it was contaminated by a disease, “...are you creating a fashion statement or are you trying to look like a hobo? If you are, it’s working. My dad said he'll pay your mom to work in the cafeteria if it will make a difference. What does she work as? Oh yeah, a nurse? Well, the pity-look suits you."

I'm paralyzed and cemented to the spot. She is dead. No. Beyond dead. I will throw her into hell personally. Actually, the devil might not even take her. I bite my tongue until it feels limp.

"Oh are you going to the winter ski trip? Oh wait...that’s right. You can't afford it. Don't worry though. I'll make sure you get a nice souvenir."

My face burned red. Sophomores get a special winter ski trip. Principal Bryant rents out a whole hotel and resort and the students get to stay for three days and two nights. Apparently the scholarship doesn't cover the crazy expensive trip so me going is out of the question. My mom doesn't know about it. She'll be so stressed knowing that she can't send me when other families can. I just can't bear watching her be like that.

Get the hell away. Get the hell away. I glared at Hailey some more, trying to send telepathic messages into her brain. Whoops. I forgot. She doesn't have one.

"Bye scholarship-girl!" She smirked while she waved and went to gossip with her little posse waiting curiously a couple yards away.

To hell with her and her stereo-typical blonde minions, I got class and I'm not going to be late.
