From Jesse's roots, a Branch will bear fruit in Nazareth town,

The Hebrew word for branch in a town of no renown.

Mary lived in the township with her father and mother,

She was going to be married to Joseph, as they loved one another.

One day an angel manifested to a startled Mary,

His pure and simple radiance was quite extraordinary.

"Fear not," said the angel I bring glad tidings from the Lord,

For you have been chosen to bear a child as your reward.

The Holy Spirit will produce an immaculate boy,

Blameless, unblemished that will bring you great joy.

The child will be called Jesus meaning Holy One,

He is truly begotten God's one and only son.

Mary listened but didn't question she knew she was blessed,

If this was God's decree she would never protest.

Why was she chosen to be the mother of His son?

But she accepted Gods will so let it be done.

The angel then appeared to Joseph in a dream with the news,

Everything was clearly explained so not to confuse.

Joseph married Mary and they prepared for the event,

With prayer and fasting for God's Son will be sent.

Joseph was instructed that he had to pay his dues,

They had to travel to Bethlehem with this untimely news.

Mary travelled with Joseph on a donkey mounted,

With sacks of Shekel earned and carefully counted.

When they arrived in Bethlehem tired and dusty needing bed,

There was nothing available only a stable instead.

The stable was foul-smelling but at least it was warm,

Animals were calm waiting for the Messiah to be born.

A white lamb in the corner stood in the night,

As a child was conceived just before midnight.

With only the donkey and lamb to witness the scene,

A healthy boy Jesus Christ was born a Nazarene.

Prostrate before the crib, they marvel at the helpless child,

The divine light in His eyes made them both delighted and smile.

"Holy, holy, holy is the child in this story,

Hosanna in the highest the earth is full of His glory.

During the night there was a knocking at the door,

Shepherds by night gathered twenty or more.

An angel had revealed to them that the Messiah was born,

And a star had guided them just before dawn.

On entering the house, they saw the child with Mary His mother,

This beautiful offspring was like no other.

Later came wise men of renowned that were old,

They were acting on prophesy that had been long ago foretold.

Offering gifts of frankincense, myrrh and gold,

It was such a phenomenon and a blessing to behold.

Through Him, God's will would always be done,

Through Him, temptation and evil would be overcome.

Jesus was not laid in a manger by accident oh no,

It was a spiritual symbol that was clearly on show.

Animals go to the manger for physical food,

But humans go to the manger to be spiritually renewed.

Jesus feeds us with the Word and the Bible,

So, we can be born-again and become a true disciple.
