This section is dedicated to the various characters of this book. The section will be updated each time a new character shows up or something important needs to be added about one of them.
I tried to add them in chronological order, as of appearances inside of the story.

Eleanor o'Connor:

[1969 - 1976 - 1979]

Born: May 28th 1957
Nationality: Northern Irish

The protagonist of this story.
She was born in Belfast, but moved to Brixton (London) when she was a child. By growing up in a troubled family and a racist environment, she is first rised by her brother Niall, and learns about life mostly on her own skin, on the streets. Progressive rock signs her spiritual growth across all of her teen years and Keith Emerson leads her to become a musician.
If at first she appears as a timid girl, she grows a more impulsive and passive-aggressive nature to find shelter in. She's very passionate about what she loves, yet she's also quite impulsive and she rather dwells about things after they happen, rather than before. In spite of growing a fierce temper, her self consciousness will never really leave her and it will have her live her life or love experiences in quite a toxic and obsessive way.
She first belongs to the hippie movement, then she becomes a skinhead and consequentially a punk and that is noticeable in her looks too.

Niall o'Connor:

[1969-73 (L) and 1976 (R)]

Born: 1950
Nationality: Northern Irish

Eleanor's brother. He is fundamental in her first stage of her life, for he introduced her to music and the hippie scene. Though, he happens to involve his sister in that kind of wild life too soon, when she was just twelve. He is very protective towards her, but at the same time he does not realize what dangers he puts her in front of. Once he gets to know what Brandon'd done to her, he ends up in a brutal fight with him and his friends that has him come back late at night and be involved into one more fight with his father, whom eventually kicks him out of the house. After realizing his mistakes, he decides to leave London and the hippie scene to go back to Belfast and join the political and social fights occurring there. That tough environment turns him into an oportunist, cold and violent man, even towards his own sister, as we can read in the chapter "Clash". At this point, instead of supporting his sister in her individual growth, he questions every choice she makes and he doesn't think twice before abandoning her and their mother for a second time.
