I was just a child looking for love from my own
parents. All I wanted was to experience a complete family, not this broken reality. I yearned for the life I had dreamed of for so long a wish that felt impossible. But then the day came when it all disappeared, lost to a horrific misunderstanding.
Unknown figures attacked us creatures with two sharp fangs. At first, I thought they were my parents' acquaintances, but I was wrong. They slaughtered my parents without mercy. I initially believed they were just criminals after our money, but the truth was far more sinister. My parents were killed by these individuals using their fangs.

I witnessed everything. I wanted to run out and defend them, but my mother signaled for me to stay hidden. I remained silent, sobbing secretly in the corner. The only sound I could hear was the rhythm of my own tears hitting the floor.
Time seemed to freeze.
I saw it all. I watched as they ended my parents' lives. I saw them lying there, lifeless, with not a single drop of blood left in their bodies. I wanted to scream for help, but I kept my mouth shut, honoring my mother's final wish. They had drained them dry.
Tears streamed down my face. They were gone. I didn't have the strength to move. I sobbed like I had never sobbed before.

Sob...

Sob...

Sob...

When they realized my parents were dead, they began communicating through intense eye contact. It was strange I could feel their thoughts, I understood them through my mind and eyes. I realized they were looking for me.
My heart beat frantically. Visions of danger chased me. I didn't care what the future held, I only knew I had to find a place to hide. If they caught me, I would be next. But what haunted me most were the final words of one vampire: that I am the one destined by the prophecy to take the lives of many.

What kind of thought is that? I’m only five years old, for Pete’s sake. I don't understand what they imply.
Driven by those deadly words, I ran as fast as I could. I ran blindly through the tears, not even noticing my surroundings. As I fled, I felt a strange, surging power within me, allowing me to run faster than humanly possible. I didn't care who I bumped into the only thing that mattered was escaping this hell.
One thing I need to tell myself  Vampires don't exist.

"No, I will never be a vampire!"

Those words eat at me like hell.
